Was a tough day for you john, interesting getting another angle of how you were fishing it..and the pike infestation,i was lucky only getting piked twice, will have to recap your southfield vids for next week 🙂
Next match was the next day for me. I have to say I wasn't at all motivated, had to go home and set three rods up after this, everything was soaked and not gonna lie, I was miserable. I'm glad I made the effort though as I had a lovely day fishing the waggler for double figures of mainly roach which gave me 3rd place on the day and the best silvers catch (beaten by a couple of carp).
Dont beat yourself up John nothing you could have done about it , I had the same problem in a match on Medway last Sunday its so frustrating. Lets hope its your day next time mate.
I was doing so well this year, as soon as the cameras come back out, it all goes to pot, curse of the 🎥 lol. Not beating myself up, I've learned the A&C is a patchy canal, it all looks the same but under the surface, who knows. The better fish were definitely up in the higher numbers as is often the case at Pollington.
Absolutely gutted for you jon. My local is around 11and half metres wide and there's plenty off pike in there and the odd zander. There's days i only tend to fish. Lures in the winter for the pike. Best of luck for the next match 👍
A 24lber was caught the week before, I saw at least 1 twenty chase my fish in and turn at the keepnet - don't stand a chance on 2lb bottom and an 18 but I may go back with my gear to exact my revenge ...again 😉
Pollington Boats always seems to be rammed with pike and tough landing on them John! None of the tactics seemed any different than what has worked for me on the A&C however I think because of the size of the water it can be difficult to attract fish. I managed 6-8 of roach on tares at Rawcliffe on the 5m whip, probably a day or two after this. Excellent effort though and you're doing well in the league.
You start questioning your tactics after a crushing defeat like this but to be honest, whilst hemp and particularly tares wasn't the fastest bait on the day, I struggled on maggot and pinkie too. I lost so much time to the pike and they'd kill the swim for 10-15 mins every time i got hit. I think if I'd been on more quality fish and less pike, I could have caught well on the seeds.
If you think you've had a bad match ,,I once caught two flounders and a terripin ,on a river ,nobody else caught ,and they wouldn't let me weigh them in ,,😢
Come barbel fishin' John, best remedy. I've had doubles out the Swale, Wharfe and Derwent the last 3 weeks, no pike troubles either! N. Yorks rivers are fishing well, big fat girls.
It was a shocker, wished I'd never got out of bed, forced myself to go again the next day and had 11-12 of silvers for third place on the waggler at the railway pond, it was a lovely day's fishing and we didn't get wet!
We all have bad days mate. Give your head a shake and you will be back full of boyish enthusiasm, which is why, all of us are addicted to angling. We are kindred spirits.
nice spacing between pegs.. and ya get a fair bit of water to have a go at... seems like an even venue fishwise..... unlucky with pike... are you not allowed to catch pikey with a lure rod.. then put it in a separate net till match finished..? i had to laugh when you pouched in a load of maggots then ate a samwich with same hand... only us fisherman do that... good vid keep em coming
It's not as fair a venue as it looks, something holds the better fish in the higher pegs, be that walking them up the bank or whatever I don't know but it's often the case that the further you walk, the better the fishing gets in matches on there. I think I'd get DQ'd if I went lure fishing for the pike, they are big down there anyway so not suitable to place in a keepnet really. As for the maggot dust tainted sandwich, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger💪😉
Thanks mate, had an idea but it's not a term we use in my part of West Yorks. Hard luck being pestered by the pike, you showed more restraint than I would, totally buggered up your peg. Keep the vids going mate, still a nice watch on a filthy day here.@@HOOKEDFishingChannel
Some clubs allow them still to this day, as a youth I fished a club match on the Yorks Derwent once and landed a 19lb pike which counted - I won by 18lb plus as all anyone else caught was gudegeon 😄
Somebody has to be atlas it just happened to be you, the Greek gods of angling gave you the job of holding everyone else above you " absolutely out of your control that one buddy" it'll be someone else's turn next time keep smiling . 👍

Cheers mate, tried to make it happen but you know the rest. If we'd been up the top end it would have been better.
Tough luck John , did all you could , next match will be a belter ( probably) , always next time mate.

LOL that's class 🐢
John. I enjoy it. Keep going.
Don't worry I will, just fed up at the end there, it still hurts but I'm getting over it 🎣
Unlucky mate, we all have days where nothing goes to plan, nice vid though.
Hopefully getting my bad spell out of the way before the final🤞

I'll have to get the gear out, just been super busy, love barbel fishing, haven't been this year 🤷♂️
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel I've had a cracking year, Grayling out of the Rye as soon as it frosts!

Head shook🫨
Now it,s my turn, fished the River Don festival today, the 1st day. 2lbs 11oz an absolute shocker of a day!!! LOL@@HOOKEDFishingChannel

I see you have got that weed growth as we have suddenly got down here on the Avon.... You need to get that weed out.... Bad
There were some huge rafts of it come down at the start. The Selby canal is full of it so well aware of the problems it causes.
Tough day John you weren’t in the right area plus a lot of pike you had no hope 😭chin up then go again 💪
Yeah, I was cheesed off, next day was better, didn't get chance to film but had 11-12 of silvers and no pike attacks👍
What isa pommie exactly?
a small silver bream

Yes, I guess there's plenty of local idioms in fishing. Glad you enjoyed the vid, thanks for watching 👍
Always said pike should be allowed at the weigh in

pike magnet you are..try holding off with the choppy for a bit longer maybe?
I've definitely had more than my share of pike attacks this year. Good point, I suppose you don't have to feed every line straight off 👍
The real disaster is that pennywort which can ruin a venue.
You weren't last, you were tenth. 😃
That's the positive+ 😄
Tough day for you mate bloody pike, There ok if your fishing for them but not for you then, Thank you
I may be having a saunter back to take my revenge on the pike at some point James😉
is it not aloud to plug for them to put them of the feed when you catch one or two lol@@HOOKEDFishingChannel
One of those days mate, you couldn't have done any more
I guess not Phillip but you still question yourself after such a result.
bloody pike john grrr spoiled yer fishing, next time never give in
I won' t mate, dust down, we go again.

Damn those greek gods ⚡I know someone has to be last, I just never expect it to be me 😉It was a bad day but the next one was better👍
