  • Big deep canals can be daunting to some people, there wide deep and to some they think they pose a challenge to fish, this couldn't be further from the truth, they are full of fish and with a few simple easy methods you can be catching fish from these type of venues in no time.
    Venues such as the Aire and Calder, New Junction canal Gloucester canal are all deep canal venues where you can catch good nets of bream roach and other silver fish species and are very popular places for people to go fishing, hopefully after watching this video it encourages you to get out there and get some fishing done.

    Great video with some good tips Kayleigh, do you ever fish the curve just at the bottom of the slope if the canal is silty. Miss watching your videos on a weekly basis by the way

    That was really helpful, thanks Kayleigh. I’m used to fishing the narrower canals like the Leeds and Liverpool so these bigger open expanses of water can be quite daunting. Is it worth feeding your initial 4-5 balls of ground bait slightly upstream if there is a tow to the canal? If you feed straight in front of you won’t the tow pull the bait away and feeding fish to the right and therefore out of range? Also, when would you top up the swim and is there another line to attach on those big wide canals? i.e. it worth trying close in?

    Could you ask preston to do smaller sizes in there clothes I'm a female angler with my husband and all preston stuff is far too big x
