- I have finally joined the standing desk revolution.
I went for the large Ikea Idasen standing desk.
I'm very happy with it, except for....
My gear:
Panasonic GH5
Tokina 11-16mm F2.8
Rode Videomic Pro
Some experience.

I ordered this desk yesterday 04-07-2024 it is due to be delivered tomorrow. One thing to keep in mind is that the desktop is hollow to keep down the overall weight. If you add weight with a more solid too it will impact on the speed of the motor in raising the desk. I do have a solid desktop that I might swap out for the bundled one - I can always take the bundled one back.
Its a great desk, and the paper top ... is pretty good. At first i was worried it will break but few years in the solid as rock lamination level didnt give in single place.
But man, no idea why the dont include a better controller and cable menagment, the manufacturer offers them, and ikean literally sells cable menagment racks, its such a bizzare thing to not include.
Great review! Down to earth and focusing on the essentials. A solid standing desk. Bought one as well because of this video.

That’s great to hear. I hope you subscribe as well.😊
Considering getting this desk and I'm decided on getting a custom table top not sure if that would affect the 10 year warrenty or not. Probably would
Check whether warranty covers up down mechanism only.
So it doesnt wobble at heights?
@04:00
Nope, main reason i got it, its solid thick steel not aluminium or thin square metal profiles like other brands in similar price range.
I also put in folded paper between legs and mechnism tubes, which removed even the 1mm space for it, so now its as stable as a normal table.
Thanks for the video. I feel much the same as you: the top itself is a bit shit, but the sites I've found that will cut a decently chunky oak top to the Idasen's size specs are quoting over £300! May just buy this all in for now, then swap the top out for a big boy one in the future.
I’m planning on buying some scaffold boards and making my own top at some point, much cheaper and long lasting. Thanks for watching.
@@deankellytech Yeah I think I need to upskill and buy a drill and just grab one of their worktops or something! I bought the desk this afternoon so I'm excited either way :) Thanks for the great video!

Does it wobble much?
Thanks for your question.
No, it doesn’t wobble at all.
Just make sure you tighten all of your fittings correctly.
Thanks for your video! where can i download 'idasen controller'? is it also in google play store?
Does it work with Alexa or one of the others??
Don’t think so. No warp drive either! Why did I bother!!!?
wabble at the highet position? wabble overall? how would you describe the frame regarding that
Hardly any as long as all joints are properly tightened.
@@deankellytech tnx a lot!
What are the dimensions of table top
It's in the video 160 x 80 cm
If one needs to relocate, is it safe to take it apart and then put it together again?
Hi, I’d say yes - unlike most other IKEA items.
@@deankellytech thank you very much
