I never really use the presets in the phone app, also I find that they don’t really work too well. The stability is good for me, I haven’t had any problems with it, the only way I could see it being a bit wobbly is if you would lean on to the desk with your full weight maybe. Also, for the same price there’s perhaps other/better options available. If you have the option to go by a store to see the desk in real life before you buy, I would highly recommend it! It’s an investment, but it’s definitely worth the price and it saves your body (i.e. if you are prone to RSI, etc.) Hope this helps! If you have any other questions let me know, happy to help!
@@doubleu1446 I ended up going with the Vert desk from BTOD that was priced for a little less with free shipping no tax and I will get a butcher block counter top from Lowes. But I did like your video thanks for the reply.
Hmm, I think it could work, but I would not recommend it. I'd go for the original table top as it's made for the frame. However, if you specifically want the Karlby top then it could work, you'd just have to make some minor adjustments and maybe drill a few holes in the bottom of the table top to attach the frame of the Idasen. I'm sure there's some reddit forms or ytb videos about that option in particular. Make sure to do your reseach before you buy the set! Best of luck!!
@@doubleu1446 yea I am searching for it .The original top is ok but I think the thickness and the weight of the karlby will make it more stable. I saw see some people did this set up.Will see how it goes .Thanks again for the information and keep up the good work 👍
About the desk going up when you want it to go down, today I was at an Ikea store looking at this, and it did the same thing. I thought something was under it, and this is a safety mechanism, but after seeing you're having it too I'm a bit worried, but maybe it's some cable blocking some sensor, I don't really know.
Hey! Yes, I'm indeed a little over 6'10. Luckily the desk is changable in height, so if i move it up its not that big of a deal. Are you the same height as me?
@@doubleu1446 No. I'm just 5'7" You did not say in your review that you are a really tall man. I just assumed that you might be very tall for you to hit your knees on the underframe. You should tell people how tall you are so that they would have a reference whether the product would match them or not. God. Over 6'10". That's really tall.
You can buy the table top separately! The table top has pre-drilled holes on to which you can screw the legs. However, for the Ikea Adils legs you would have to drill more holes in the table top yourself, and I don't recommend doing so. I'm sure Ikea also has other table tops which look alike the Idasen one, which DO have pre-drilled holes that fit the Adils legs. Its probably best to ask Ikea which table top to pick. Good luck!
Hi doubleu, i think i found main reason of this weird regulation problem. There is a cover for panel control and i think it works worse due to clearance beetwen cover and switch. I installed only panel control without this cover to my desk and works fine. Don't you feel like you make not enough pressure on switch when it happen or something does skid inside?
hey, this could be something. I recently moved to a new appartment, and I don’t have the desk with me here, so I cannot see if this works. But thanks for the tip, I will definitely see if this works once I have my desk again!
my same desk has a strange issue, it's doesn't stop and go back, but instead half of times when I try to move it, it will stop after 1 cm like it is blocked or something and afterwards resume after 1-2 seconds while keeping pressed the lever. This glitch might happen 2 times in a row when switch from set to standing presets or the other way. The reset doesn't fix
Thanks for the video. Quality was fine. Think it would have been worth while showing the desk change height as that’s what most people would be interested in seeing.
Hi, thanks for the review. I have the exact same desk and am thinking of installing a monitor mount (or two), but not sure if the desk is sturdy enough as the tabletop is made of particle board with honeycomb paper filling according to Ikea’s website. Have you experienced any issue with your desk and monitor mount?
Hey, thanks for your comment! I have not experienced any problems with my monitor. The monitor I use is a 24inch touchscreen monitor, and its quite heavy. If you have 2 light monitors, I'm sure the desk will be able to hold it. Make sure that you put something soft in between the desk and the monitor arm to make sure you don't damage the desk! Some monitor arms come with soft padding already. To spread the weight on the table top, you could also go for 2 separate monitor arms, instead of 1 which is able to carry 2 monitors. However, this might not look to nice, but that's of course something you have to decide for yourself! Hope this helps!
@@doubleu1446 Great to hear you haven't had any issues! I saw some postings from online about some other Ikea desks damaged by monitor arms, but that's probably not the case for the Idasen. Hi matey, I read (in another comment thread) that you can make the table automatically go to the next stored height:maybe you’re triggering that? The positions can be set with the ios/android app, maybe run that and see if the max height is stored in one of the slots.
Hi mate! I looked into it but the app said that I didn't have any prefixed/favorite positions set yet. However, when I moved my desk up and down, it gave me an error called E59. I looked through the product guide and found that the error stands for a 'Safety limit switch activated on channel 1'. It says that a potential cause for this error could be that something hit the desk while it was moving. Now, I'm sure nothing hit the desk, but perhaps for some reason the desk thinks that it did and that's why it went back to its original position. The guide says that there are 2 solutions: Removing the obstacle & Initializing the desk if necessary. I tried both but they don't seem to work unfortunately.
Isn't this desk Bluetooth or sth programmable to set some predefined positions? I want to switch sitting/standing frequently and I don't feel like keeping this button pressed throughout this transition, and also fine-tune the height again.
Hey! Yes, it is indeed, you can set up to 3 predefined positions in the app. However, you still need to hold the button in the mobile app for the table to move to the preferred position which kinda sucks. You can also use the desktop app, which i don't like either. You need to pay an extra fee of around € 10,99 to make use of premium functions such as bringing your desk automatically to predefined positions without having to manually touch a button all the way through. I really like the desk, but Ikea could do a better job improving their app!
@@doubleu1446 guess that pressing and holding is for stupid safety reasons. Using the app for predefined positions? Eh stupid. I'll either buy different desk, or just make my own controller with some Arduino lol.
@@doubleu1446 maybe I'll just buy Rodulf and add a controller to it; just need to count rotations somehow and should be able to connect something between the original buttons and the "motor unit", that's all. Those Ikea motorized desks are pretty slow tho, but with automated control shouldn't be an issue.
@@OYeahan The rudolf is a great desk too i guess! I think the desk goes up and down so slow for a reason, but I could be wrong. It doesn't bother me that much, but I could see how it becomes annoying if you change positions often
Hey, thanks! It doesn't really wobble at all while I'm using it. I would recommend getting a chair that is tested/designed to be ergonomic. Most 'game-chairs' i.e. aren't ergonomic even though they look great. I actually contacted a dutch chair reseller which focuses on ergonomic chairs and they gave me a ton of information. You could do the same! Oh, and ask if you can try out different chairs before buying one! Hope this helps!

your desk is waaaaaaaaaaay too low in siting position. Also according to the manual you need to wait when you set it several times. This could be the issue (heating protection), check manual?
Hey, I've gotten multiple comments on the height of my desk while using it, I'm changing my behaviour from now on, thanks a lot for the help! I don't think its an 'heating' issue, as it also does it when i haven't used the desk overnight and then move it up or down again. I got a error code nr. 59: "Safety limit switch activated on channel 1". This error would mean that something would block the desk from moving and the desk then going into sort of a 'protection mode'. However, I'm sure nothing is blocking it, and I've already tried to reset the desk without any success. So I'm still clueless on whats going on 😅
@@Nub3h Hey! No, I still haven't... 😢. I have just come to accept it, I was thinking about contacting IKEA, but they'll probably tell me to bring it back and replace it, which I don't want to do.
E59 "Safety limit switch activated on channel 1".
I bought the undercarriage or whatever it's called (basically the legs). IKEA didn't have the table top in stock & it seems like they almost never do. I wanted to go for the table top that's about 63 inches by 31 & a half inches (the bigger top) & I wanted it in your color but I may have to settle for black just so I can have something. I wanted to ask you, are the table tops uniquely compatible with the legs? Meaning does it have holes to place the screws in and brackets to mount the bar underneath the desk or can I just buy any top from any where since they're all the same?
Hey! Ah too bad that the color is not available! I've also noticed that they are contantly out of stock, quite annoying.. Yes, the table top indeed has holes to place the screws in, but only in the places where the undercarriage should be at. If I'm correct IKEA made their products so that you can combine them with each other, which would mean that the other table tops also have the same screw holes in the same position, but its probably better to ask someone who works at IKEA or visit one of their stores first! Hope this helps!
Hey! If I am correct this desk also has a cellphone app. However, I've never used it 😅. Here's the link: bit.ly/3oiwdmk I could only find the dutch site, so you might have to change the language & location! Hope this helps!
Hi! The original table top comes with pre-drilled holes to screw the frame to. You should check if your table top has these holes already, if they do then it should work, but look for the sizes at ikea.com. If the table top you currently have doesn't have pre-drilled holes you could drill holes in it yourself, but then your warrens expires I think, and you have to be careful! I don't recommend drilling holes yourself
Hi, I have 1 question. can the length of the frame be reduced ? On ikea it shows 146cm for the frame. I have a 120cm table top. So I wanted to ask if we can reduce the length of the frame down to 120cm or lower than that. Will be looking forward to your reply thank you
Hey! Yes I do think that's possible since you also have a 160 and 120cm version of the table tops. I think the legs are the same on those. I'm not sure if you can go lower than 120cm, perhaps the desk isn't table anymore then. Hope this helps! Correction: Wait, I think I didn't understand you right. If you want to shorten the frame then you could do that (the frame has multiple holes for mounting) but then the only problem is that the table top doesn't have holes for it to mount to the shortened frame. So you would need another table top! I think the only 2 possible sizes are 160 or 120 cm.
@@doubleu1446 Hi thank you for your response. The thing you mentioned that the frame can be shortened(sideways). is the confirmation I needed because making the mounting holes manually by myself on the table top is not a problem for me. Thank you.
Regarding the issue with the desk stopping and returning to a prior position: I noticed this happen to me when I was very slightly leaning on one corner while raising the desk (just to be clear, I wasn't applying a lot of force). It dawned on me that the collision detection could probably work by measuring power usage of the motors during operation and triggering it when over a threshold. I then was able to confirm it by slightly pressing down with my hand on top of either side of the desk while operating the height adjustment and this did indeed trigger the collision detection. Because of this, I suspect that it could also happen if the weight distribution on top of the desk isn't spread out evenly between both legs. Couple that with the extra weight you apply when operating the button and this seems plausible. I didn't try it but I bet this would happen much more often if I moved all the things on top of the desk on the side where the height adjustment button is installed.
It depends on how mad you'll be haha 😜, just kidding! The desk is pretty stable, I myself don't feel any wobble, but I only edit videos and do web designing. If you punch the desk it will probably move a bit but it will definitely not fall or anything like that. I'd recommend to check it out at your local IKEA (if possible due to covid)! Hope this helps! 🍀
Thanks for your comment! I've noticed from other comments too that I set my desk way too low, which could also be a cause for my rsi problems. I didn't notice this myself at first, so your comment is much appreciated!

Also, for the same price there’s perhaps other/better options available. If you have the option to go by a store to see the desk in real life before you buy, I would highly recommend it! It’s an investment, but it’s definitely worth the price and it saves your body (i.e. if you are prone to RSI, etc.)
Hope this helps! If you have any other questions let me know, happy to help!

one leg width: 70cm
thickness of 1 leg at bottom: 6cm

@@doubleu1446 i am thinking of buying karlby top which is 63cm wide to use with idasen frame .Do you think it will look good?
Hmm, I think it could work, but I would not recommend it. I'd go for the original table top as it's made for the frame. However, if you specifically want the Karlby top then it could work, you'd just have to make some minor adjustments and maybe drill a few holes in the bottom of the table top to attach the frame of the Idasen. I'm sure there's some reddit forms or ytb videos about that option in particular. Make sure to do your reseach before you buy the set!
Best of luck!!

About the desk going up when you want it to go down, today I was at an Ikea store looking at this, and it did the same thing.
I thought something was under it, and this is a safety mechanism, but after seeing you're having it too I'm a bit worried, but maybe it's some cable blocking some sensor, I don't really know.
I still haven't figured it out tbh 😅
I got mine about a month ago, everything is going great till now. Fingers crossed it stays like this 🤞
Finally new video!
I have this desk but not the electronic one and I don't hit my knees. How tall are you? About 6'10"?
Hey! Yes, I'm indeed a little over 6'10. Luckily the desk is changable in height, so if i move it up its not that big of a deal. Are you the same height as me?
@@doubleu1446 No. I'm just 5'7"
You did not say in your review that you are a really tall man. I just assumed that you might be very tall for you to hit your knees on the underframe.
You should tell people how tall you are so that they would have a reference whether the product would match them or not.
God. Over 6'10". That's really tall.

can you change the legs of the desk like put on the adils with the table top don't want the current legs on it
You can buy the table top separately! Good luck!

Is the monitor arm stable? Did it sink in? Thanks!
its working perfectly fine for me!
@@doubleu1446 cheers!
Hmmm, I haven't had this problem yet. Perhaps contact your local IKEA to see if this falls into the warranty?
@@doubleu1446 it was cause of the presets set in the app, dumb me

Thanks for the video. Quality was fine. Think it would have been worth while showing the desk change height as that’s what most people would be interested in seeing.
I agree! I totally forgot to film that part while i was in the moment. But thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
I'm thinking of purchasing 2 single monitor arms following your advice.
Thanks for your reply and the helpful tips!
You're welcome! All I would say is be careful and ENJOY your new desk and monitors!!

Thank you freaking much. I saw this at the shop today and wasn't still decided, you helped a lot. I am 26 years old working everyday at the desk and I have pain and back issues. Hopefully the possibility to work at home some days of the week and the purchase of this desk will help. Thank you again
Hey, thank you so much for your comment! I'm happy to hear that this video helped ☺️. Please don't take RSI lightly, and seek help if you think you might need it! Again, thanks a lot! 🍀
Hi matey, I read (in another comment thread) that you can make the table automatically go to the next stored height:maybe you’re triggering that? The positions can be set with the ios/android app, maybe run that and see if the max height is stored in one of the slots.
That's a good idea! I'll try it out later today and let you know if it worked. Thanks!
Yeah you're probably better of making your own controller!
Nice man, does it wobble a lot? Also what kind of chair do you recommend for lower back pain?
Hey, thanks! It doesn't really wobble at all while I'm using it. I would recommend getting a chair that is tested/designed to be ergonomic. Most 'game-chairs' i.e. aren't ergonomic even though they look great. I actually contacted a dutch chair reseller which focuses on ergonomic chairs and they gave me a ton of information. You could do the same! Oh, and ask if you can try out different chairs before buying one! Hope this helps!

Sorry for the late reply! This is the 160x80 model!!

Happy to help!
your desk is waaaaaaaaaaay too low in siting position.
So I'm still clueless on whats going on 😅
@@doubleu1446 I'm also experiencing the same issue sometimes, have you found any solution in the meantime?
@@Nub3h Hey! No, I still haven't... 😢. I have just come to accept it, I was thinking about contacting IKEA, but they'll probably tell me to bring it back and replace it, which I don't want to do.
Hey there! Any news on your issue? It happens to me too :(
E59 "Safety limit switch activated on channel 1".
Hope this helps!
how is the wobble and rocking? haha about the knees , how tall are you ? 😆
The wobble and rocking is pretty fine, you don’t really notice it. I’m almost 1.90 meters 🤪
Thank you for the review. Can you put the Ikea link? I want to make sure if its deferent from that one that has a cellphone app
Hey! If I am correct this desk also has a cellphone app. However, I've never used it 😅. Here's the link: bit.ly/3oiwdmk I could only find the dutch site, so you might have to change the language & location! Hope this helps!
Can I use my table top i purchased from ikea already? or is it a specific kind?
Thank you.
You're welcome! Good luck!
That's actually a really good point! I'm gonna try it out to see if it fixes things. Thanks for the message!!
@@doubleu1446 I know your comment was a year ago, but did you ever try spacing the weight on your desk out more evenly? I'm wondering if that works!
hey! yes that seems to work quite well. but still some times it has this issue
i just wanna know more about the stability as a gamer there are a few moments of anger does it take a punch or two or will everything go down?
It depends on how mad you'll be haha 😜, just kidding! The desk is pretty stable, I myself don't feel any wobble, but I only edit videos and do web designing. If you punch the desk it will probably move a bit but it will definitely not fall or anything like that. I'd recommend to check it out at your local IKEA (if possible due to covid)!
