These tips are priceless. Have you ever found that people learn by different methods? There are those that can learn by reading and they know it. There are those that must be shown and have their hands on it to learn. I fall in that slot. Nothing fancy, nor high borough nomenclature, just hard facts and actual doing and sharing. Larry the pop rivets work great! I was looking for regular tubular rivets but the have to be drilled, I even tried 22 shells but difficult to drill out. Pop rivets is the answer. 3/16 x 1/2 is perfect! Thank for your help Larry! Mike on Cape Cod! Full Steam Ahead!

But I wonder, what would you estimate the time required is to make one, from start to finish, including painting, staining, spikes, etc. Also, you may have your reasons for using the Dremel to cut the tube, but, as you noted, they can be a bit squirrely. (You did the deed out of view.) And that kind of cutting can produce fine metal shards, or grit from the sanding disk, that have a way of getting in the worst places, including your eyes and lungs. I'd recommend using a copper tube cutter. Small ones, suited to your needs, cost $10 to $20. Brass Craft makes one. It's all over in a few quick turns. Very clean.

Not really that only takes about 5-10 minutes with a dermal drill. My first one took a lot longer but after that you become an expert real quick because there's nothing to this. Just do it, you see what I mean
Thanks so much for this video! I'm new to modeling and am working with HO scale on a very very tight budget! I think I can adapt the shade fixture and size to use on my railroad layout. I am surprised, though, that you don't use resistors. How many of these bulbs do you put on one adapter and do you wire them individually to the feeder or connect them together first? I know, this video is 2 years old, but it's a method and skill that doesn't change much with time. Better access to parts, perhaps. Evan Designs sells a wide variety of sizes and colors of LED bulbs. I run a set of wires along the underneath of the layout and depending on the size of my transformer will determine how many light's I connect to the 2 runners. Small transformer will only allow a dozen or so and the large one I have had, I have had over 60 lights on it and it still showed no sign of bogging down. If you want to use just one transformer then I suggest you get like a cheap 4 amp 12 volt battery charger and you can add a hundred or more to this unit. I don't know anything about diodes, and I have never used them. I don't fell I need to. I use 4mm 12 - 24 volt mini lights, I bought from Edmundeton Scientific there on the web. I think they where like $20 for 100, a cheap price at $.20 a piece. Hope this helps and thx for getting in touch. Send picture's if you can Thx
@@muss1951 Thanks so much!! I had some of those mini led Christmas lights, there are 10 bulbs on a string and they run off 2 AA batteries. I adapted those to an adapter so I can run them off AC and not have to mess with turning them on and off or constantly buy batteries. And that works great for a string of lights, but now I'm ready to light buildings, and I could buy street lights, but it's so much more fun to scratch build when one can. I'm really new to this model railroad passion. I'm 70 years old and this is my first layout. When I was a little girl, my brother got a train for Christmas, but I couldn't play with it because girls played with dolls. My how times have changed. Anyway.....Thanks again for your video and happy railroading!! ,

Gosh no I used a small trickle charger because I had so many non LED lights and they over powered my small transformersI have a box of transformer from all kinds of items, look on the bottom for output and go from thereI would say the average transformer should do 15 to 20 lights or more, I had like 80 or 90 lightsHope this helps thx
Could you tell me where you got the lights from please and would it light up powered by solar power lights you would use for say the pathway. I have experimented with using the top of the solar power, with the bulb that comes with it to then insert/fix to the top of the roof so i have lights in my building at the bommom of the garden at night. The only thing is my soldering is not that good, so the bulbs you shown look like the ones i need. thanks

I buy a lot of my branches from hobby lobby when they are 50% off, which is every other week. There called asparagus ferns, the flocked style not the plain. I also use some of there other branches but not sure of there name to try a different look. Hope this helps
hey boys and girls it seems that a lot of my tags don't come up in all 14 videos. Some videos wont come up on any tag. If anybody knows how to correct this I would greatly appreciate it. I have looked all over you tube and nothing seems to help. Thanks
I usually solder them in an area that is not so easily seen, then hide em with scenery when I can, if I cant go directly under the track where I want to solder them

Yes they wouldn't be safe outdoors there only 12 + voltsI used them on my bait house on my pondAs long as everything is sealed your good to go
