That's mostly the most used generic metalcore riff (still sounds great tho) a lot of metalcore bands used this riff. It all started with metal bands like Ceremonial Oath, At the Gates, and Death.
I've been a fan of the genre for about fifteen yrs, it's my fav genre within metal...and my humble opinion is that this is absolutely class! That melody deserves special mention, it's sick.
Fantastic stuff! It turned into a very nice song. This actually requires way more skill than your average metalcore musician is ready to demonstrate. What's more, it seems that the bands that "made it" never really went that far. If As I Lay Dying played stuff that required this much moving around the fret, they would never have become one of the cornerstones of metalcore. More like, garnered a certain following like Sacred Mother Tongue and faded into obscurity. They even proved the point when they started to play way more technical stuff and it just became a bit overdone. Your song is a lot better balanced I'd say.
Hey Shady Cicada, do you have any materials to recommend for my guitar playing growth. I have a grasp of scales, but you were playing them different then iv'e seen. Like palm muting the lower string and playing the notes of the minor scale in sync. You sound great and you have good skills, keep up the great work.
