@Nathan Southwick Actually had a clean section in an early draft of this video, decided to cut it out though. x'D Maybe I'll do a level 11-20 followup video where I'll include it! : D
Love #8....reminds me of nothingface, who would routinely add samples from horror movies into their songs to build atmosphere. Not sure if metalcore, but an amazing band with unbelievable riffs and groove 🤟
Ah yes! metalcore and those edgy teenage days. Thank you for reminding me it still exists. Nice video btw. From level and 8 and onwards, it's just metalcore meshuggah fusion.
Perfect Music! The evolution of riffs! 🔥 Hi sir, Can i use this beautiful instrumental of yours as a background music in my video reaction channel? if its okay with you?
So, if you start to master metalcore, you end up drifting to djent. Then you return to metalcore. And so on and on, endless spiral. Thanks for knowledge, Mr. Ouroboros )
Miss May I is a cool one to get into, same with Trivium =] I used to live where Miss May I lives at too and even have one of their old guitars as well :P Not as good at playing much as you are anymore though x.x
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial Same bro. Tim Lambesis - unfortunately he did horrible shit - but I learned harsh vocals originally by imitating his style. "Confined" and "Through Struggle" some of the first guitar shit I ever learned... yea they were extra strong mid 2000s. ABR , just always crushed it lol I saw them live for the first time back on Feb11 at The Tabernacle in Atlanta with Killswitch and my God the show was unreal
I'd rather prefer this than the Octane Core that's happening now. I don't mind bands going mainstream and pop. In fact, I listen to allot of pop music too like BTS, Maroon 5, Ariana Grande etc. But this new Octane Core thing is just so...bland.
Did I miss any level? \o/
Level 11 - The Clean Interlude/Intro?
@Nathan Southwick Actually had a clean section in an early draft of this video, decided to cut it out though. x'D Maybe I'll do a level 11-20 followup video where I'll include it! : D
We just want 10 more.
@tehllama42 Haha, let's see if I do a followup someday!
plot twist: this whole song and video was procedurally djenterated
Haha, don't tell anyone my secrets! : D
As I Lay Dying's Shadows Are Security and Bullet For My Valentine's The Poison combined, 2 all time greats.
Level 1 to 3 is just straight up from "Through Struggle" haha
Haha, was a long time since I heard that song!
One of the best from AILD!
You absolutely nailed it! You played everything I love about 2000's Metalcore! Amazing melodies. Good job man!
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it! : D
If you like the older vibe, then please check out my band Widow Anchor. We have 3 singles out now! We've been compared to AILD, ATR, KSE and Trivium.
I love how the ending of this video is literally the opposite of the ending of your 10 Levels of Djent video 😂
Haha, that was intentional x'D Glad you watched them both! : D
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial the 10 levels of djent was recommended 🤣. They’re so funny to watch back to back
Awesome. I absolutely love 2000s metalcore
Thanks! : D
Basically my entire spotify playlist explained in under 3 minutes.
This is melodic metalcore!
As it should be
I've written a riff like the one at 1:35. Four taps and a slide.
Nice! I think most musicians in that style of music during that time wrote similar riffs to that, haha : D
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial I just realized bloodmeat by protest the hero also has a similar tapping part.
@Travis Payne Haven't heard that one! Need to listen to it! : D
1:35 Arch Enemy - Enemy Within
Love #8....reminds me of nothingface, who would routinely add samples from horror movies into their songs to build atmosphere. Not sure if metalcore, but an amazing band with unbelievable riffs and groove 🤟
Actually haven't heard of Nothingface, but it sounds interesting! Need to check them out : D
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial here is one of their heaviest riffs: ruclips.net/video/LRlltYhKPMI/видео.html
@Fake Name I liked that song! : D
Will always love level 4
Glad you like it! : D
Let's open up this pit has to be one of my favorites
Haha, glad you like it! : D
This new djent thing has no place in my 2000s metalcore!! Loved the video though, nailed it!
Next level - generated metalcore! please!
Haha, would be a fun project, no doubt!
This slapped harder than my mom when I forgot to empty the dishwasher after school
*punching down, kicking backwards* BLEEEEEGH!

This is like an ointment for my ears. My favourite era of metalcore!
Sweet mother of As I Lay Dying! 😮
like listening to the very first bfmv album 😍
Glad you think so! : D
Ah yes! metalcore and those edgy teenage days. Thank you for reminding me it still exists. Nice video btw.
From level and 8 and onwards, it's just metalcore meshuggah fusion.
Glad you enjoyed the video! : D
So much Darkest Hour influence in these! 🔥🔥🔥☺️😉😊👍🏽🙌🏽
I actually didn't listen to Darkest Hour that much back in the day. x'D But glad you liked it! : D
Thank you for the as I lay dying cover
That Djent section reminds me of Violent Sleep of Reason, sick riff 🤘
Level 0-9: LITERALLY THE PEAK OF 2000'S MUSIC \m/
Level 10: why are you gae
Cool all
Sounds sick! Do you program the drums?
Can you explain your settings and what it’s etc you used to get this metal core tone. It’s sick bro !
I enjoyed this a lot, great job!
All levels are so good! :D
rock (metalcore...?) solid as always
Thanks! : D
love the level 6!
I'm glad to hear! : D
Perfect Music! The evolution of riffs! 🔥
Hi sir, Can i use this beautiful instrumental of yours as a background music in my video reaction channel? if its okay with you?
Bro casually wrote the best Adept song in the last 5+ years... oh wait
Awesome video
So, if you start to master metalcore, you end up drifting to djent. Then you return to metalcore. And so on and on, endless spiral. Thanks for knowledge, Mr. Ouroboros )
It's the circle of life! : D
And it still sounds amazing IMHO
Damn right!

FCKING KEWL! nice play btw m/
What about the 200% Gain???
You should check the brazilian band: IT'S ALL RED, check here in RUclips
sir can i use your breakdown and tapping style from this video ?
Im sorry but i have to ask this. Do you use a compressor to get that attack sound when picking open strings?
my guess is a boost pedal
New As I Lay Dying track is sick.
Haven't heard it actually!
Any chance you would consider doing mixing tutorials?
Actually working on a couple. Stay on the lookout in the coming weeks!
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial You absolute champion!
How do I break out of playing inly this 24/7?
Haha, maybe go back and listen to some of the bands of that era? : D
Such a talent👏
level 8 and 9 went hard af
Level 8: Huge smile on my face
Level 9: Stankiest face I can possibly make
Hahaha : D
Amazing!

As a kid from the 2000s this rules.
This definitely gave me early Asking Alexandria vibes
Thanks! : D
I want 30 more levels;)
I know its meant to be a joke...but i was taken away by it. Headbang Mothafkrz!
Level 8 = Defender's breakdown by AILD
Actually haven't heard that one! Gonna take a listen (:
@@DennisMartenssonOfficial You'll enjoy that song, it's so perfect!
It was the best of times
It was the worst of time
God damn I miss it
There are only 2 levels of Metalcore. Level 1. Drop tuning to play hardcore riffs. Level 2. Insert Iron Maiden leads. That's it.
LETS OEN UP THIS PIT :D
Level 4 F*** YEAH
Glad you like it! : D
But level 5 tho
Miss May I
👌🏼
Bro just dropped a B4MV banger
I love you.
Aww!
Basically how to as i lay dying
Bro this sounds like the first 3 in flames albums of the 2000s..😂
Fuck i love metalcore!
Same! : D
brah its literally through struggle by aild
Less is more 🤘
I have a sudden urge to listen to BFMV
As I Lay Dying meets August Burns Red
Haha, definitely two bands that heavily inspired my younger self. (:

I dig it tho
new djent thing, dude you like literally living in 2012 xD
Haha, that was kinda written from the pov of someone in the 2000s : D
Level 1 is level 10 Djent.
*Where's the twin guitar solo?*
Nah! Screw it!
Haha, that's too high of a level for me x'D
Level 6 is only what annoys me
ВКУСНО
damn bro you left out arpeggios
Haha, I'll include it if I ever do a part 2!
i hope someday bands reanimate this genre, not djent it.
Spent the whole video wishing it was djent. Until number 10,l hit lol
Haha, couldn't help myself : D
FACE REVEAL AT 1 MILLIONS SUBS
deal
I don’t think people used dissonant chords in early 2000s
If only metalcore was like this without growls/screams, only clean vocals and singing 😋😋
2:26 i hate this type of metalcore 🤢🤢
Me too. Djent sucks.

Well cry about it😂 I mean it‘s not necessarily metalcore but still epic af
