hi brandon hope ur well love your videos
Big whoop, you have a VZ-61, get two, no balls
We need a petition to get Brandon as an arms dealer in the next John Wick movie
Yes, totally
Nah, we need him as his right hand man, i'd be a pretty good combo imo.
I completely agree! He has to give a breakdown of an AK-50 for John as well during the movie! He should have a line like "yeah this random guy has started making these, you have to know him to get one."
I think we got Ian for that. Asistant, yes
Too bad they already filmed it. That would be awesome
Is it just me or is Brandon starting to look more and more like a Black Ops Cold War operator
I don't know but he's hot that's for damn sure

Greetings from the Czech Republic. I have some interesting things for you:
1) Vz.61 is an abbreviation, the whole word "vzor 61" = "pattern 61", that means that in 1961 the weapon was introduced to the armed forces. This marking method was used for various Czech weapons, but also for civilian equipment and machinery from 1945 until 1989.
2) This weapon was originally intended for tankers, motorcyclists, and other military specialties who needed a small weapon because the vz.58 automatic rifle (pattern - see above 😀 ), popularly called "kosa" ("scythe"), would be too much for them. But soon the police and secret services from all over the Warsaw Pact and other countries took a liking to her. That's why it appears in so many spy movies 😀
3) Currently, this weapon is still used by armed forces in more than twenty countries.
4) It is often claimed in the literature and on the Internet that this weapon was the inspiration for the Uzi submachine gun. But that is not true. The Uzi submachine gun is structurally based on another Czech weapon - the ZK476 submachine gun.
it is also known as a gun used by Paramilitary organizations or the "T" word like the IRA for its low profile
also favored weaponry of the Serbian paramilitary unit active during the Yugoslav Wars Scorpions
with where accused of IRL "cheating"
It is popular amongst British criminals too. I believe the securitas robbers used it and it's killed a few people in Liverpool recently to name a couple
I thought it was meant for a concealed carry weapon for the secret services.
@@ggjoska generally speaking the Czechs weren't real big into that stuff. They were never an enthusiastic member of the eastern bloc to say the least.
The idea behind the idea was to give it t somebody who's likely use for it was laying down down suppressive fire while bailing out of a vehicle, hence the .32 cartridge. They wanted to maximize capacity while maintaining compactness.
If you actually want to reliably 'end someone rightly'.... yeah, you're going 9MM at least these days.
@@ggjoska nope, for that they used the makarov pistol /copy of walther ppk in 380 auto or 9mm/, KGB agents have had a special holster on their belt to shoot it directly from hip without "proper" aiming

The Vz61 was also issued to tank and armoured vehicle crews as a personal defence weapon. The Russian-built tanks and APCs operated by the Czechoslovakian Army were fairly cramped affairs, so it wasn't feasible to accommodate standard-sized weapons in the crew spaces. When I was serving as a reservist in a Canadian Army armoured reconnaissance squadron a long time ago, a submachine gun was our primary issue weapon, again for the same reasons - compact size and limited space inside the vehicle.
Which submachine gun you were issued? MP5?
@amadeusagripino6862 We used a Canadian-made version of the British Sterling L2A3 submachine gun.
The Canadian version had a different front sight and bayonet lug arrangement (but it could still accommodate FN bayonets), and the metal parts, save for the magazine, had a Parkerized finish.
More details on the Sterling here:

The Skorpion is a weapon for the crews of armored vehicles, and these are mostly short people, because there is not much room in a tank or motorized howitzer, so it is a weapon of excellent dimensions.
And concealable too
@code066funkinbird3 Concealment isn't the biggest concern when you're driving a military vehicle. Compactness and ease of carry, however, are. You don't want to lug around a full size rifle if you are unlikely to get into a firefight, but for the one shit day when the front line comes to you, a handgun won't cut it.
I think the idea was for this weapon to allow a short burst of suppressing fire to force enemies with bigger guns to hide, while your buddies can get back into the tank or escape the scene. Alternatively, it allowed various bodyguards and stuff to pack quite a significant punch into their pockets to surprise the attackers, who may be armed only with pistols. In both scenarios, this is a gun for surprising your enemies in asymetric scenarios.
Or they could have possibly made it to shoot people with.
Fun fact: The Skorpion was called the "Klobb" in GoldenEye after developer Ken Lobb, because the name they originally wanted for it - Spyder - was an established paintball gun model/brand, and they didn't want to risk a lawsuit.
I loved playing Golden Eye. But always hated getting stuck with a Klobb.when that's all you could find. It took like a whole mag to take out one enemy. Very weak and not accurate in the game,. So I guess they got that right.
It was also used by Lady in Devil may cry 2
@@davidkohler7454 the Klobb was the weakest gun in the game, it took away the least health per hit.

The real Czech guys holding it in one hand😃 Hello from Czechia.
I'm not even a gun person but I find this stuff wildly entertaining.
Fun fact about the Skorpion: The reason the fully automatic selector is designated as "1" is because 1 is the number of rounds that will hit your target when discharging the entire magazine.
Like the Halo Scorpion MG in Halo 1
0 had a 1 before it originally for the 10 you could hit
And here I thought it was just in binary for the fun setting.

Hello from the Czech Republic, the problem is not with the stock, but with its placement in the shoulder. The stock here rests on the cheek, not the shoulder. I had this gun in the military as a backup along with the UK-59T. Have a nice day.
Does the angle of the stock seem off on the one he has too? I think the adapter plates we have in the US because of SBR laws spaces the hing out farther making the stock hinge down a few more degrees. Mine certainly feels off.

If you are evaluating a weapon, it is a good idea, as in this case, to study the military manual for that weapon. There you learn that the folding stock doesn't actually have to rest on the shoulder, it rests on the cheek. Yes, that's right, if the shooter is a really big guy, it's very difficult to shoulder the Sa61, but it's about the face. The recoil is minimal, he wants to try it - it is described in the manual. I own this gun, so I know what I'm talking about. Have a good time man.
Your comment is absolutely spot on. I learned to shoot this gun exactly the same way while in army. Resting on the cheek makes it perfectly in line eyes and sights, no problem for the shooter of any size. The stock has another great feature. When folded down it creates perfect hold for supporting hand when shooting bursts in full auto. (Eyelet just under the muzzle-index finger through). I would love to see the reviewer to give the folding stock second chance, using these Czech tips and maybe update his review on this very well designed gun part
@@miroslavnavratil7100 That explains it. I personally thought that the stock looked as if it followed the arm ergonomics, and was designed more to support firing from the hip position.
Love my VZ 61 SBR. I have a shoulder holster and use it as my CCW during jacket weather. The thing is so small it's not really any less convenient than carrying a normal full size pistol.
Few fun facts: The rate reducer really makes it way slower and more reliable too. There was also a shoulder holster for this boy. The 32 ACP was not picked up for size sake as it was later introduced in 380 and 9Mak while keeping the original size. The reason for that was that 32 ACP was used by the Czechoslovak police since 1920s and it only made sense to use the same cartridge. 9mm Luger version existed too known as Vz 68 but was way bigger.
i was expecting you here
Thx for the trivia. I thought the 9x18 mak was the first version for some reason.
There is also theroy, that .32 ACP was proposed by sneaky guys to be able buy amunition during sneaky ops in rotten capitalist world.
It wasn't actually THAT much bigger tbh. Still fits the form factor more or less, and still smaller than an MP5K
I’m actually a big fan of the .32 ACP round, of course the days of cheap ammo are gone.😢

Aksu weren't classified as SMG technically, but they were used in same role in army. Also they were (probably still are) widely used by police forces. During 90s when crime rates were skyrocketed police patrols with AKSU in their hand were very common sights in urban areas and on the road block posts.
Man, I've watched this video like 3 times already. I don't know why I love these little things so much, they're just so freakin' cool.
The Scorpion was used by drivers for its small size in the military..when your had a BMP or a tank you needed some thing compact like the Scorpion or the Ak you had in the video. My father was a driver of a OT64 Scott and he had a Scorpion. Love your videos! Best regards from Slovakia!
In some way they developed the PDW mere 30 years before the west had the idea.
@@HappyBeezerStudios No
@@HappyBeezerStudios Western counterpart would IMHO be the MAC-10, it was created just a few years later. And it's not a PDW, the idea of a PDW was to make something almost pistol sized, but with way more armor penetration (because ballistic protection got a lot better and more affordable since the 1960s).
@@AndrewCZ47 even with ballistic protection you don't want to be on the path of a skorp magdump. seen a few "results" of those in the '80s and '90s and, well, it was effective enough to send the targets on the morgue slabs. the cctv of the execution through a glass door of a russkie _businessman_ in Paris was an eye opener on the potential of this "ineffective" caliber when used _rightly._ kinda like the guy i saw shot with a suppressed Drulov or a few reports from successful .22lr derringer users. as always, training and familiarity with the weapon you use and shot placement matter but it's the same with everything except maybe .50 Cal and up.
I can also see it being useful for their form of Secret Service low profile it would be hidden inside of a suit jacket

Makes sense.

@@ID-8491 It was listed in service at the anti-terrorist group "A" as a sqb weapon in the early years of its existence (70-s), but there is not a single evidence of its use in real operations of the KGB of the USSR. According to former operatives it was perceived as a "toy" with which to shoot only at the shooting range and no more. In the army special forces of the USSR this submachine gun has never existed at all and in the special forces of the KGB (group-A and group-B) it was replaced somethere in the 70s by the OTS-02 Kiparis. Which was in run-in station until the 90s. There is also information that the VZ-61 was used for a short time by the troops of the internal forces of the USSR which were involved in the protection of sensitive strategic facilities.

the vz 61 is not a submachine gun, it would be much closer to a machine pistol, but in this case it is a PDW and it was even created to be used by soldiers who perform functions such as tank crew, artillery personnel, etc. Making a parallel would be the same thing that happened with the m1 carbine, which was created for soldiers who didn't usually go into combat, but needed a better weapon to defend themselves since this type of people used to use pistols.

Easily one of my favorite PDW's of all time! Thanks for doing a video on it. As for the 32 ACP, it may be pretty weak but the VZ-61 works on the "quantity over quality" system.
It's sufficient for it's designed role, a PDW doesn't need a lot of accuracy or power at longer ranges. Its purpose is to dust bad guys at close range or keep their heads down at longer ones while you get the hell outa there and for that, a wider pattern isn't all that undesirable.

61 was not created nor designed to be SpecOps/Spetsnaz/KGB units, it was created to make a weapon for Tank crews, Helicopter pilots and other vehicle crews that would be small enough to fit into holster (with the 10 round holster) while still being able to provide crew with enough firepower. Another use was for Paratrooper Squad Leaders that either used Vz.58 S (Folding stock version) or they can carry this. Another usage could be for assistent MG gunner so he can carry more ammo or for another support units or as a secondary weapon for MG gunners, AT gunners etc.
Sure. But it was favourite gun of special units of Ministry of internal affairs, special police units, secret police, because of its firepower to concealability ratio. Practically invisible under coat or longer jacket.
@@petrklic7064 Yes. Never said it was not used by them. Just that they did not developed it for SpecOps.
I think Ian said it (the baby Skorpion) was meant for Tank Crews long ago: Meant for self defense and nothing else.
It's also just as controllable holding it like a pistol in full auto, too.
Czech prison service used this gun till 2018… and if i say we used it, that means that this fucking little shit was issued for officers on guard towers… especially in prison that were in urban areas. Other prisons had VZ.58… now we have EVOs
As we know from current events, tank crews probably don't need self defense weapons because if the tank goes up, nobody is walking away. I guess if it merely broke down...
It was used by tank crews and pilots. Very small, compact weapon with enough accuracy and fire rate to be used in self defense.

It would've been cool if you mentioned that it was originally designed as a PDW for tankers and the like, as well as for police, much like the AKs-74U, and was only adopted for sneaky KGB stuff later down the line.
And since you mentioned the telescoped bolt, it'd be cool if you did a video on the Uzi, since it's pretty much the first successful firearm to use that system.
A bit innacurate Both Scorpion and UZI were inspired by Vz 48 and telescoping bolt was already a concept in handguns (where the bolt is integrated to a slide.
@@Artanis99 that's why I said first "successful firearm" i never implied it was the first one to use it ever, only that it was the first to use it and be successful.
And pistols are a different thing altogether, their system can't be considered a telescoped bolt at all.
@@DesertAvenger That would depend on your definition of successful. I'd consider 100 000 run military adoption and multiple exports as success
OFC both of its successors were much bigger sucesses
Love the Scorpions. Klaus Meine has a great voice for metal.
Is that why it looks like it was made for a smol person? It was designed for people who can fit in soviet tanks?
From CoD 4 onward this has always been a top spot in my machine pistol picks. It's such a neat little piece I love it
Ya I can relate to that whole ringing in the ears thing.
honestly, looking at all soviet guns, vss, ak 47,72,74 , Sks, the Vz, pp 19 bizon, the ppsh 41.
they all look so nice, i love my polymer ar, but you can never beat a wood finish on a gun.
it just feels right in the hands.
The clip of the guy going "Oh, there goes the folding stock, hey there" is fantastic
The semi/fast semi auto switch is like an on off switch....and fun switch 🤠😎
6:02 I would love to see a shooting animation like this on a video game, I busted out a good chuckle
The skorpion is really nostalgic for me. I remember using it in black ops 1 w/ a suppressor in order to keep my iron sights clear from muzzle flash that way I could cross map people because the skorpion has extremely low recoil in that game.
These bots are starting to get out of hand.
And then the rest of us remember it because of Golden Eye
It also killed in 2 shots up close which made it fun to use lol
It has really low recoil in real life too ;) It is almost like shooting Flobert gun...
You had to dual wield them for maximum memepower. I remember a youtuber called xcal used that a lot.
Scorpion + vz58 = border guard combo. Those guys back then trying to escape to Austria had no chance
3:25 I wonder if it would be possible to use a denser material like a tungsten alloy, in order to get enough mass in the bolt to be able to handle 9mm rounds. It would definitely be an interesting project.
Brandon, another excellent video, interesting content and the entertainment factor, 9+ Thanks
How happy you were to show us the suppressor is so wholesome.
One of my favorites. 🔥
The crippling tinnitus part got me, I had a buddy fire his 30-06 in a hunting blind and im forever fan on high.
Brandon's little chuckle after shooting the Krink makes me smile every time.
No cry of WOLVERINES after firing the krink is disappointing..
@@hakimcameldriver I actually stopped watching the video because of this. If there is an afterlife, Patrick Swayze is pissed in it.
A full auto VZ61 with the OG Yugo suppressor is one of my dream guns. Thanks for sharing!
Great vid keep on keeping on 😎🤘🍻
Love the FPS Russia line. Legend. Have nice day. Also soundtrack to this vid was top notch.
I cried out loud when Brandon said "It's clawbering time" and clawber'd all over the place
It´s still going eh
Things are getting serious when Brandon is actually wearing boots at the range
What is the exact temp that makes AK guy go from flip flops to boots?
@@RP-ks6ly ..... Eh, roughly 55 degrees F?
Ahh the ol’ have nice day. Wish he was still allowed to play with guns too, great video.
You are the man Brandon!! Excellent video and I just picked up my own "non fun" version of the VZ-61. The gun shop FFL guy asked what the heck is this thing (censored for youtube). Quite the unique cold war relic. No AK collector can ignore all the fun commie block guns like the VZ-61 when searching for other excuses to buy more guns. Keep up the fun videos Thanks.
At 4:55 he’s so cognizant of gun safety that he won’t even flag the camera, and I don’t know why but I appreciated that immensely.
He has a cameraman. The camera shakes a bit. I'm sure the cameraman appreciates not getting a gun pointed at his head
@@bryant7542 I thought he had a camera stand during the scene I timestamped
You can see the camera move and zoom like 2 seconds after. The reason he won’t flag the camera is because there’s a dude operating it.
read my mind.
