As strange as Kel-Tec designs are, I gotta admit, I want them simply because they are such unique designs and are the perfect representation of Methed Up Florida Man gun designs. When I worked at the gun store, we had a regular customer who bought every Kel-Tec that came out but never for any specific purpose other than, and I quote "I think they're neat pieces of plastic."
They're fun and goofy kinda remind me of stuff like the calico. I have a buddy who has the 308 bullpup. It's pretty much a novelty company.
Despite his low opinion the sub2000 is actually a good gun for what it is. I have one and it works well.

As a german I would be glad to even own a KelTec Sub2000, because the only thing I can legally own here without paying a huge amount of money and time is a crossbow.
Funny ,in my area crossbows aren't legal for people with the ability to draw the string of a regular bow ...but I can buy a 10mm.
damn, i didnt know germany's gun laws were that strict.
@@GanjaDroid They aren't impossibly strict, but just frickin stupid.
@@hannes5437 I asked my cousin in mexico how their gun laws are and he said the same thing its stupid. To legally buy a gun you would need to buy a license first to own which is a long wait then to travel to Mexico City and buy it there. Why you pointing that at random people you paranoid f
AK folding stocks take a lot of length off, a lot more than you might expect. If you're running plastic furniture with a triangle folder, the paratrooper spec, it's a surprisingly light gun. Lately, PSA also has AK-100 series pistols in 5.56 and 5.45 so you could also get one of those with a folding brace, and now you've got a pseudo Krink with almost no recoil
They make these things called revolvers and pistols that are, small, easy to carry concealed, and deploy, light weight, and if you know how to shoot, far more accurate than that piece of crap.
Pistols aren't as easy to use as a carbine in any regard.
More concealable yes. Easier to shoot no.

My range toy (MP7 at home)CMR30 busted a rail in the extruded aluminum upper receiver, they fixed it no questions asked too, good warranty policy with them
I had a similar issue with an RIA 9mm 1911. Took it to the range, and halfway through the first magazine, the safety fell off. Contacted the company. They sent me a shipping slip, paid for shipping both ways, and the warranty repair was free. Gun is great now!

Finally got my Gen2 SUB 2K9 & only a month left on the $100.00 Factory Rebate.
Brand new with rebate $300.00! After 50 years of shooting and servicing my older firearms, this is a blast, and very affordable. I have KelTec Pistols for CC, for 15 years now, and they just never disappoint me! All of them field strip without tools, in seconds, blindfolded, lol! Being lightweight as they are, the .380 & 9mm can feel a bit snappy, but what sturdy little tools I can carry effortlessly, and still depend on their reliability. They even still offer parts & accessories for their discontinued models. My P3AT just turned 20 years old this year! Wish I could afford one of every model firearm they made/make! ( I am definitely one of the poor-boys, so laugh away)
Sister Mary Margarette is that YOU?
I do own a Sub 2000 (not my primary), and I like it, but I like it for what it is; it's not a small rifle, it's a big pistol with a shoulder stock. I bought it because I wanted a Smith & Wesson M&P9, and a local shop had the Sub 2000s that took the M&P mags and made me a good deal on both.
I keep the M&P in my truck console and the Sub 2000 folded and tucked behind the truck seat, just in case I have to shoot my way back to my gun safe.

The mcarbo accessories are a must for this,i completwly decked mine out with mcarbo and it definitely makes the rifle better.
Mcarbos tube cover makes the cheek weld more comfortable.
And their trigger and trigger spring set makes the trigger about 30 percent better and I also changed the plastic feed ramp and plastic take down lever and got the double finder charging handle.
The folding sight mount is the most expensive out of the upgrades but makes it way better.
@@darknature79 Fully agree! I did the same (except the double finder charging handle - just went with the charging handle grip cover). Mine isn't a home and property primary firearm, but it is when my wife and I are RV camping. The ability to put it in a backpack while hiking and exploring and the limited area we have to defend ourselves in while in our camping trailer (plus the low cost factors) make it one of the many tools that I have in my toolbox to protect those I love.
To be honest, I don't have any issue with the Sub2000, but when I decided to get a PCC I went with the Ruger PC instead. Yes, it separates into two pieces instead of folding, but I have no problem with an optic on it and it tucks away nice. Not to mention also takes Glock magazines which is nice, and I've seen integral suppressed barrels for it as well.
I always pictured it as a "behind the bench" gun. A gun to leave behind the seat in the cab of your truck that folds up so it doesn't take space away from the random tools, extra oil, baling wire and other things that find themselves back there. A "screw around" gun that's always at the ready if you meet up with buddies and end up wanting to take pot shots at something to pass the time.
I would never leave it behind the back seat in the cab, otherwise the illegal immigrants being smuggled back there would have access to it. 😂
Hell yea I get that. I’ve got my old marlin 3030 behind my seat lol for just that reason and have for years. She’s pretty beat up now but still shoots straight

@@richwalter3107 😄 luckily I never found myself owning one. For some reason this gun just makes me picture my highschool days and the random guns everyone had behind the bench seats in cobbled together old farm rucks.

Never even thought about using mine for a defensive gun but it is a lot of fun. Everyone that has shot mine has loved it. It is uncomfortable with no drop in the comb but that is why I am very particular about what over/under and side by side shotguns I buy.

You may sit at the council, but we do not grant you the rank of Master.
Looks like a very neat little thing to have as a discrete car gun or on a light bag while you go on a short trip as a self defense gun if you intend to go light and inconspicuous, and you can pair it with a glock ccw to avoid carrying different types of mags. Still, as always, kel-tec is great with gun ideas but hit or miss in execution.
Maybe a bit taller, high visibility sights, a light polymer cheek rest that also works as a barrier between your face and the charging handle and a machined or at the very least die cast aluminium trunnion (even if still a bit precarious) would be relatively inexpensive upgrades that would make the gun a lot better for what it is and for what many folks would intend it for
It is definitely a kind of gimmicky weapon, but never had a malfunction with one. Like the fact that it can support multiple mags with the multimag too.

S&W agreed enough to copy it sideways, and kel tec just dropped the gen3 with a twisting barrel and shroud. Nobody picks it over a 10.5" AR pistol or Draco with a brace. Great review. Everyone should own one of these. Why not.

"I wouldn't be caught dead with it, unlike some people." Excellent job with the multiple references to a recent event.
It’s a great buyout gun for survival. And it can take down most of your small game without damaging the meet
Or the meat
I own plenty of AR’s, Rifles and shotguns . I bought the keltec over the s&w folder because it came down to optics vs ammo and at the end of the day Glock mags are cheap and 50rnd mags are fun on the range
On a technical level the fact that the barrel can fold like that and still operate is pretty cool.
its not
Ima fight u
It’s no different than breaking down an AR. Just a shitty version.
@@dohminator_gaming I personally don't care for 5.56, for the area I live in its meh.
it folds like every back pack and survival rifle ... ever lol
As someone who has worked in a gun shop for many years, I can tell you that Kel Tec is good at making "Can I hold that?" guns. They don't sell for shit, but they are interesting enough to make people who see them ask, "Can I hold that?" and then hand them right back. The KSG is probably king of that in the shotgun world as well.
Lol, that's me! I like to see them, but with no interest in owning one.
I work at a gun shop in Houston and people love to hold the KSG. “This is from John Wick!” Real cool shotgun
Me when the KSG-25 came out. Coolest most obnoxious gun ever.
I’m also 6’7 and that fucking thing looked huge on me
it gets worse when you realize how much it jams too, but it kinda looks cool doing it I guess. made for cod, guns
Don't sell? Around here they can't keep them on the shelf/racks.
I have one. Excellent gun. Did upgrades to it as it clearly needs.
Can confirm, the charging handle eats beards.
'I wouldn't be caught dead with it....unlike some people'....
That's a whole new level of savage, and I'm here for it.
Well,as long as you have that gun, perhaps you won't be caught dead.
This is one of the ones you watch immediately because you don’t know how long it’s gonna be up
Yeahhhhh
I just picked one of these up in trade. It has the optic mounted at 45° so it can fold.
I like mine because it’s weird, and it pairs well with a glock 34. Fun to carry around the desert, no jams yet. I got a pellet gun too, doesn’t mean I’m taking it to war lol. Sometimes it’s just fun to have a cheap to shoot toy.
I like my sub2k. Its just something i stick on the side of my backpack when i go camping or hiking. So far it has taken down a rabid raccoon, a snake of indeterminate species, and a coyote that was getting aggressive with my dog. Not exactly the greatest of threats, but exactly what i anticipated using it for.
I spent a bit more for some mods from MCarbo and it helped the shooting comfort quite a bit.
Just curious as a non-US citizen, isn't it illlegal to shoot animals on other grounds than your own or the ones you have permission to hunt on?
Camping… that 9mm won’t stop a bear or a big cat. Grab your self a Glock 10mm
@@SweWince not necessarily, depends upon the circumstance.

For any young bucks who don’t know , FPSrussia was the greatest gun RUclipsr of all time hands down not even close .. daddy government didn’t like his antics of harmless gun fun and explosions, so they raided his home ,,, twice. Then someone (government) mysteriously murdered his partner and arms supplier in broad daylight, there were no witness, no camera , just a body laying in the man’s own gun store business with a bullet hole in the back of his head , to this day no one knows who murdered Keith Ratliff. Shortly after he was charged with a felony so for some BS , so they essentially made it to just so that he couldn’t own a firearm .. his videos are still getting millions of views years after his channel not being uploaded to ..
FPS Russia , (Kyle Myers’s) on his Chanel played a Russian character with a Russian accent , to this day millions of people still think he was really Russian (dimitri politiv) .. is you like fully automatic guns of the variety you’ve never seen in civilian hands, fully automatic shotguns, flame throwers, tank rounds and dangerously close explosions, you’ll love FPSrussia’s Chanel ..
As a young person I do know FPS Russia and he is truly one of the channels of all time also the video with the big ass machine gun is probably still one of the best videos on his channels
I remember watching his stuff. Never really followed the drama of what happened to him (I stay away from doom-and-gloom as a force of habit these days), but man, that’s dark. He and his partner never deserved that.
Was it the ATF that went after him and his partner?
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639Same way they went after Waco. The ATF knows how to fuck up a person's life especially when they take all 400k worth of your guns.

Mcarbo makes some major QOL-upgrading parts. If youre an uberpoor like me, start with the buffer tube pad and a brass deflector if youre a southpaw. The latter makes the rifle usable for a ledty and the former makes it an overall good experience to shoot
I actually would love to see the fully tactical sub2000
MCARBO version… look it up. It’s nice!
then you want what S&W made. You cant fully tac out a Sub2k because of how it folds.
@@Mitsurugi2424 they sell folding red dot mounts for it lmao you can actually fully load a sub2k
@@Mitsurugi2424 but how it folds is what makes it better than the S&W. Maintains its thin profile. It slips perfectly into the hydration pocket of a 5.11 Rush 24 EDC. Add Gmag compatibility? Hard to beat for an urban mobile stealth platform.
@HoboCoastie mf the bartender of backpacks
I had one of those as a kid, but mine was the upgraded version with a water tank.
only problem I had with it is that the iron sights were way too low to aim and the recoil system was a bit funky, but other than that it seems like a good weapon
Bought the gun to take to the range and have some fun to shoot with and it fits in my large pistol case along with a handgun - not to get in a shootout with some gangsters or home defense - my Keltec 12 gauge KS7 shotgun paired with my Glock G19 9mm handgun are more than enough to ward off any intruders. Not planning on going into a shootout against any AR's anytime soon but my PLR16 will definitely take them by surprise if that were to ever happen which I doubt - anyway I appreciate your open honest presentation. I've got the Gen 3 Sub2000 with rotating folding barrel with Sig Romeo5 Red dot - it folds up ez pz. This gun fills a niche but I agree it should not be your primary fighting or hunting rifle.
Some deputies in Brevard county here in Florida were issued these for potential better response times for active shooters in schools. They actually have it integrated into their front vest/carrier in the folded position.
Sounds like it might be a good use case especially if they are standardized on the Glock platform.
I like the idea of buying locally made equipment as well as the issue of time being pressed, but not sure how I feel considering… Kel-tec

@@jayebejer7431 duty weapon reliability. You don’t put unproven firearms into duty situations where they can’t fail.
Definitely one of the guns in my collection. I think I've spent more on mods from MCARBO than the initial gun purchase. The metal trigger and trigger guard made this actually shootable for me; I hated it before them.
It's one of the mopeds of the gun world. Fun to ride occasionally, but you don't really want your friends seeing you do it.

"Fun to ride occasionally, but you don't really want your friends seeing you do it." Sounds a lot like a certain "biological female" in my past....
It's a fun gun to dump $100s in for upgrades.
Smart alitteration!
Midwest Industries makes a really cool red dot mount for the Sub 2000. It's offset and can swivel 180 degrees so you can fold the gun. Supposably retains zero very well.
how much does it cost??
@@VeryProPlayerYesSir1122 $121.95 from their site and $92 on Optics Planet
As a gun enthusiast i have resisted buying one of these simce they came out 15 years ago. Like Brandon I thought it would be a great motorcycle saddle bag gun and its made here in Brevard County where I live. I finally gave in and bought it when the offered it with a rebate for $279 at PSA.
personally I like to imagine that the engineers ran a stress simulation, saw the CAD model snap in half after they accidentally added an extra zero to the amount of force applied, and decided it was a feature
Brings back that mid 2010s meaning of a backpack gun
It's in my get home bag with a G19 and an RIA STK100 (all metal g17 clone with 1911 ergos), a ton of ammo and ton of loaded mags.
Love all three of these guns. All three are accurate as hell and reliable. They all use the same mags so, it's a not so small armory in my avg sized backpack. Can't beat it.
My uncle owns one and I gotta say it’s weird to hold and aim but once you get that down it’s a damn accurate gun.
I almost bought one once, but when I went to the gun store to look at it, it literally broke in my hand. God bless Kel-Tec
I worked at a lgs back when the keltec shotgun came out.. we broke it.. just by racking it.. as well as some of their pistols 😂
Dude same and than the worker at my lgs goes I have one, I love it, but if you get it here is the list of aftermarket parts you need and I'm like oh, one or two parts it was like 5 to 10 parts
as a sub 2k owner it is one of the guns ever made... popular enough that people buy it, shitty enough for an aftermarket to exist to fix its problems, just like the pistol this one shares mags with. I'm honestly surprised he didn't mention the horrendous trigger, because it already has a bunch of creep, but then it also bends because of the beach plastic.
@@andrewschulze3865 I think that's part of Kel-Tec's marketing strategy: get people's attention with nifty, unique designs, get their money with cheap prices, then let them make the gun better on their own time and dime. I mean, let's face it, the SUB-2K's main competition is Hi-Point carbines, so you can't let the MSRP go _too_ high.
Bout time we get some plastic boy footage! Thanks as always Brandon!
Great video thank you.
