Huge thanks to Eric and Terrence for driving!
It was train show weekend, and Eric, Terrence, Thomas, Tim, Armeen, and myself had planned for months in advance to hang out at the train show and railfan afterward. But after the show was cancelled last minute due to the coronavirus, we had the entire weekend free to do whatever we wanted. After railfanning in Atlanta all day on Saturday, we decided to railfan in Chattanooga all day Sunday! We started our morning at Coffey’s Cliff, a location that overlooks Norfolk Southern’s DeButts yard. There is almost always a train here because of the various yard jobs, which typically use standard cab EMDs. That was the case on this day, and it was great to hear the EMDs throttling up and down as they shoved in and out of the yard. CSX’s W&A Subdivision also runs by the cliff, but we didn’t see any CSX action in this video. Our first train of the day was NS 202, daily intermodal traffic from Rossville, TN to Rutherford, PA. And with a little bit of luck, we caught a 4-train meet between two yard jobs, a local, and 202. Next we saw train 142, which had just stopped for a crew change.
Eric, Tom, and I left Coffey’s Cliff to go catch train 171 at Tenbridge. This railroad bridge crosses the very beginning of the Tennessee River, which flows out of Lake Chickamauga through the Chickamauga Dam. Train 285 was right behind 171, and we caught them slowing to a stop at the bridge as well. Moving further north to a rural crossing near Soddy-Daisy, we catch train 215 heading south with auto racks up front and intermodal behind. Since we had a little time before the train came, I set up my old video camera across the tracks for a second angle. 215 was hauling tail, and the wind from the train almost knocked over my tripod! Behind 215 was 229, and we caught them farther north in Sale Creek on old McDonald’s Farm (not joking). Mr. McDonald and his wife drove by while we were waiting on the train, and we chatted with them briefly. Very nice folks, and they have a beautiful piece of property.
After grabbing lunch, we jumped back south to meet up with the others and to catch 215 meeting 142 at Tenbridge. Once 142 cleared, 282 showed up with two sets of brand-new FEC intermodal wellcars in the consist. Our last train at Tenbridge was train 122, and the engineer gave us a friendly “shave and a haircut” horn salute. On our way south, we stopped for one last shot of 215 at Collegedale, TN. Again, I set up my CX-290 to get a different angle. Thanks for reading this description, and thanks for watching!

Hope "your leak" came out alright lol 😂😂😂
Oh and some nice rail action you captured there!
🤣🤣 glad you got a good laugh out of that! And thank you sir! Very glad you enjoyed. I always enjoy reading your comments :)
Loved all the yard action!!
Thanks!! Yard action and switching operations are one of my favorite parts of railroading. I have tons of more footage of the yard action on this day, but I only included the best clips here. Glad you enjoyed it!
Hate to tell you this, but "the very beginning of the Tennessee River" is in Knoxville, where the French Broad River and the Holstein (sp?) River come together. That said, you have an excellent vlideo. Keep it up!
No, no, I appreciate the correction! Thanks for saying it nicely and for your compliment of the video :) There is no way for me to make that correction without re-uploading the video, so hopefully people see your comment!
Chock full of great train action. You deserve more subs, that's a fact.

I'm gonna' go take a leak . . . Who said that?
I'm glad someone finally noticed that haha. I drank a large water from QT that morning, and we had just arrived at the cliff after a 2 hour drive. It just-so-happened that I made the first video cut right as I said that, so I went ahead and left it in lol. Sorry if it was offputting in any way!
@@ICE6365 OK. . . Funny!
