I’ve seen this a few times, what is good about it is that you can spend time taking many pics if you want. These trains block streets up to about 15 minutes each time. So I’m sure there are some angry people that live in the area. I just hope none of them decide to beat it to the crossings. Thanks for watching my video, I’m glad you liked it :-))

Kathy simon oh right okay I got ya what you meant lovey but say looks like this two lads look like they are having a chat just as the driver of the locomotive stopped by
FYI One of the famous B/W rail photographers captures a classic Southern RR passenger train sweeping through night passing through Bristow Station, in Virginia. It was the Southerner or Crescent I believe.
Wow that sounds very cool ! One of my friends is a great photographer in the area, he may know that photographer and or know the photo you are talking about. I'll message him. Roger That thanks ! I'm happy you watched my video, stay safe :-))
This train crew stops and makes a change here every day but I don’t go out there very often. The last time I was going to film a crew change it wasn’t in the place they’ve made a change before, that and I was on the wrong side of the tracks to walk down to catch it. I’m just glad I caught this one in the right spot, LOL ! I’m glad you liked watching my video, thank you :-))
Thank you David, at least this time I was on the correct side of the tracks and down where most of the crew changes happen. I’m glad you liked watching my video :-))
That would be a good thing if they would do that but I guess it would take too long. This train is headed southbound which means that there is a steep hill it’s stopped on. I don’t think a conductor would want to walk down the hill for about 2 miles then walk back up. I guess that’s what the detectors do, they check for problems the train might have. Thanks for watching, I’m glad you liked my video :-))
@@kgirl4078 you're welcome. What I meant was here in Canada, a crew member stands on each side of the train and watches as the locomotives and each car roll by, then after the last car rolls by, radio the departing crew if all is good. No walking any great distance involved. :)
Yes that is a great idea. I doubt the conductor or engineers want to wait around as the train take off, but it probably is something they should do. I watched a crew change northbound one day and almost as soon as the new engineers took over and may have gone a short distance, they had problems. They had to go into emergency and stop, a good part of the train was still in the same place I was filming. If I had thought about it I could have driven to another location and caught him again. But by the time I got there the engines had already passed.
Thank you very much, and I always love hearing these horns. When I go to a no train horn zone it always makes me feel like I forgot something or I was missing something and I remember it’s the horn I miss. Now sometimes the engineer will blow the horn anyway in that no horn zone. I’m glad you liked watching my video :-))
Crew change, normally takes about 20 minutes roughly. This was the fastest change I have seen. Is it because the locomotives are quite new? Enjoyed watching this video. Thank you 😊.
I don’t know if this locomotive is new or not, the crew that was on the train may not have had any problems to let the other crew know about. I have seen the crew talk for a good long time at times. This train may have been behind schedule and needed to get back on schedule. The crew I’ve seen have always been very nice. I enjoy watching these crew changes, this location has about 4 a day. Thank you very much for watching my video, I hope you liked it :-))
@@kgirl4078, the retiring crew was polite to greet you too. Seems that you have edited the footage, so I really can't be sure about the time taken by them. Thank you David, at least I’m on the correct side of the train this time for a crew change, lol one afternoon one of the trains were northbound and I saw a northbound train last year have a crew change on the other side of the crossing so they wouldn’t block the street. Well this northbound train went a block past that spot, and guess who was on the wrong side, LOL ! And not only that but he blocked the street for about 15-20 minutes. The crew are always nice to me and some of the regulars. I’m glad you liked watching this video, thank you :-))
Thank you very much for watching my video, I’m happy you liked it. It’s always nice to see a crew change and I missed the one before this as I was on the wrong side of the tracks and up the block at the crossing earlier this day, so I was happy to catch this crew change. Hi Kathy . Excellent catch. Any idea how long they're on off shift is . How long did it take them to get it back up to speed .Have a nice weekend. As always enjoy.
I believe by law they must be off for 8 hours, when I worked in DC and we had crews stay, they had to be off for 8 full hours. The hotels would be in trouble if the guys were not able to sleep. I don’t think it took too long but most of the cars were down hill from where they started from. I sped up the train so it looked as if he got up to speed quickly but that’s not the case. Tonight’s video is a slideshow of the different Locomotives I’ve caught over the years and in different locations. But I’m happy you watched my video of this crew change. If you could give me a little more info on the time frame I might be able to look into it further :-))
I believe the train was moving too slow to keep the interest up of my subscribers, so I sped up and took out some of the train. Also I had to make my video less than 15 minutes long. I’ve already went thru that process but on this video it was giving me a hard time about the length, so speeding it up and taking out a portion of the train was my answer at the time. I don’t like doing things like that but it was the only option I had at that particular time.
Thank you very much for watching my video. Does the Canadian Pacific railroad spike look any different from the other spikes ? I used to always find old rusted up spikes then about 2 years ago I found a brand new spike. It didn't look like it had ever been struck. Some how it must have been dropped and not picked up until i came along. Still had its protective coating on. I was wondering why you decided to watch this particular video of mine. I have been to this location several times to watch and film these crew changes. I like catching them when they have a heritage leading especially ! Thanks for your comment :-))
I’m not sure if they were hogged out, they schedule a crew change for 203 each day here, also 214. But this is the first time I’ve heard it referred as hogged out. Thanks for letting me know !
Loved this! I have been a USA train water for a couple of years now & I adore watching them. Soooo much bigger than what we have here in Australia! I reckon those guys would have one of the best jobs in the world! I couldn't think of anything better. Thanks so much for sharing this; absolutely loved it!
No he doesn’t stop at a station or what we think of a station. He stops at a location that is designated for certain trains to make crew changes. Passenger trains will stop at a station. I’m happy you watched my video, thank you :-))
They no longer have crew changes at Bristow, VA. there is an office there where the crew leaves their cars. Now they just change when their time runs out. I enjoyed filming at this location. Once in a severe thunderstorm, I lost my keys and the windows were rolled down. It was a soaking experience. Now I live about 90 minutes away. This is on the B line in Manassas, VA. Thank you for watching my video, I hope you have a wonderful week and summer. Happy Rails to you :-))
There are several reasons that it could be. Trains 203 always has a crew change here at Bristow, Virginia These trains come south from the north west, they run thru mountains so the image might be different in track miles. With all the twists and turns they do have slow down. Also the crew could get off and take train 204 back and do it all over the next day. Also this is an stack train, they could have worked a yard or the VIP ( Virginia Inland Port). This is where the stack trains add or remove some of the containers to go to different locations. Thank you for watching my video and asking this question. Please take care and stay safe :-))
It depends on how many hours this crew has worked. If they only work about 6 hours then they could take 202 back or if they worked all day then they would go to a hotel the NS has set to use. Then the next morning would take 202 back. Thanks for watching my video and thanks for asking this question, many people don’t know what they do. Take care :-))
Thank you ! A few of my family members have worked on Southern, RF&P, CSX, and Amtrak. I like the UP’s paint scheme but also the BNSF. I haven’t seen much of the UP this year. This video is several years old and NS does not have crew changes there anymore. Happy Rails To You :-))
Nick Pettit an engineer always waves, sometimes he gives a great horn show along with a great wave. I get a lot of waves and sometimes more horn salutes than most guys. The guys all say because I’m a female I get more. I hope your dreams came through for you. My late father in law was an engineer for 40 years and his father worked for the railroad for 50 years. Several other family members also worked for the railroads. Not all of them loved it but it was a job for them. The crews no longer stop here to recrew. Thanks for watching my video. :-))
Beats me but evidently a lot of people like to watch them since they don’t do it everywhere there’s a station. This video has more hits on it than my heritage units crew changes. Thanks for your comment. :-))

If you are talking about me greeting the black man, he and I talked about 30 minutes before the train arrived. He told me when it was to arrive and that there would be a crew change there. All that information I knew in advance. He was very nice, I was not sure what he does for the railroad or if he’s just a friend of the crews. He’s been going there for years, sometimes I see him and sometimes I don’t. I try to talk with all railroad employees on their way to or from a train. I do appreciate you watching my video, thank you so much :-))
Hello. I have two questions. 1. why does the new crew not check the locomotive equipment? for example, there may be some kind of breakdown that the old team did not notice. 2. what punishment will you receive for violating the rules of using brakes?
Many times the defect detector will tell the conductor and engineer what kind of problems that the train has. If a conductor knows of a possibility of a problem they will tell the new crew what might happen. Unfortunately the new conductor can’t walk the train, sometimes the trains are up to 3 miles long. There are rules that the crew must follow that allows them to use the brakes or not and I don’t know what they would be. Thanks for watching my video :-))
This is a fine video. Many thanks for sharing. It's not often that I see four units on a train. Lots of horse-power there. Keep up the good work. regards, Ed, Cincinnati
My in-laws were also railroad workers. One worked in the office for Southern RR, one was an engineer with Southern. Another worked for RF&P RR then for CSX when RF&P became a fallen flag. That’s how I got into rail fanning. Thank you for watching my video :-))

Hola soy de argentina gracias por subir este video ! Y te pregunto si vos sabés porque no ahí videos en donde se muestre al conductor de la locomotora operando ( el manejo ) en cabina sería no?
There are some videos that show the driver but I don’t know the names of those videos are. I bet you can Google it and bring it up for you. Stay safe :-))
Sería alucinante ver y sentir el audio del motor de la máquina todo el camino . Desde el interior de la locomotora que muestre cómo opera el maquinista y también mostrar por dónde van los paisajes y demás no ?
The crew can not go more than 12 hours. Their mileage may not be that far of a distance but many of these crews work several yards before getting to this point. There are several trains that always have a crew change at this location. Thank you for watching my video. Take care :-))

Ooh thoes horns sound so good I think I popped a mini woody
The train stopped not at the station, maybe the driver wanted to stop at the second wife's house.
No he doesn’t stop at a station or what we think of a station. He stops at a location that is designated for certain trains to make crew changes. Passenger trains will stop at a station. I’m happy you watched my video, thank you :-))
Wasn't wasting any time once they got moving. Whew.
Happy Rails to you :-))
Me facinan estos trenes de USA, CANADA, son espectaculales,,🇨🇷
Why there was a crew change for around 150 miles travel?
There are several reasons that it could be. Trains 203 always has a crew change here at Bristow, Virginia These trains come south from the north west, they run thru mountains so the image might be different in track miles. With all the twists and turns they do have slow down. Also the crew could get off and take train 204 back and do it all over the next day. Also this is an stack train, they could have worked a yard or the VIP ( Virginia Inland Port). This is where the stack trains add or remove some of the containers to go to different locations. Thank you for watching my video and asking this question. Please take care and stay safe :-))
what happens to the crew that gets dropped off where did they go how did they get back
It depends on how many hours this crew has worked. If they only work about 6 hours then they could take 202 back or if they worked all day then they would go to a hotel the NS has set to use. Then the next morning would take 202 back. Thanks for watching my video and thanks for asking this question, many people don’t know what they do. Take care :-))
Great video my dad works for UP
Thank you ! A few of my family members have worked on Southern, RF&P, CSX, and Amtrak.
I like the UP’s paint scheme but also the BNSF. I haven’t seen much of the UP this year. This video is several years old and NS does not have crew changes there anymore. Happy Rails To You :-))
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954, I had my dreams and I had my plans, I was gonna be an engineer man!
@@kgirl4078 I sure hope those waves and horns are not for these bam'n cellphones thanks for the reply, and God bless.
why do foamers want to see a bunch of dudes getting on and off a train?
Beats me but evidently a lot of people like to watch them since they don’t do it everywhere there’s a station. This video has more hits on it than my heritage units crew changes. Thanks for your comment. :-))
Suka dengan suara mesin dari EMD lebih halus

Brilliant LADY, ❤️ You, your Time and Presentation,Love from India New Bharat 🙏
I noticed she didn’t greet the black man!
I do appreciate you watching my video, thank you so much :-))
I am indion railway Loco pilot
Very good, nice to hear from you. This must be familiar to you then. Thanks for watching. Stay healthy :-))

Thank you for watching my video, I’m happy you enjoyed it :-))
What’s the crew carrying in their bags 💼. Very heavy by the looks of it. Food and water , anything besides that.
Cool seeing a female rail fanner.
This is a fine video. Many thanks for sharing. It's not often that I see four units on a train. Lots of horse-power there. Keep up the good work. regards, Ed, Cincinnati
Don’t see 4 on this one either…
Check out my newest video, the Conrail at Shenandoah Jct. Has 6 then a mid DPU !
Do you know who railfan Roman is
Yes we are friends.
Thank you for watching my video ! Rowan is in two of my older videos.
Loves Trains...My husband has over 30yrs of working on trains here in Kansas and he still loves his job.😀😀👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾
My in-laws were also railroad workers. One worked in the office for Southern RR, one was an engineer with Southern. Another worked for RF&P RR then for CSX when RF&P became a fallen flag. That’s how I got into rail fanning. Thank you for watching my video :-))
cool video he was going fast!!!

That train was going in out of control speed
LOVE THAT K5LLA THAT HORN IS A BEAST
Sería alucinante ver y sentir el audio del motor de la máquina todo el camino . Desde el interior de la locomotora que muestre cómo opera el maquinista y también mostrar por dónde van los paisajes y demás no ?
The crew can not go more than 12 hours. Their mileage may not be that far of a distance but many of these crews work several yards before getting to this point. There are several trains that always have a crew change at this location. Thank you for watching my video. Take care :-))
thanks for sharing
Nice video
Keep pushing
They didn't even shake hands?
