Legit one of my favorite wrestlers right now. Most of us hated the named change back then, until he started putting on bangers and everyone kinda forgot about it.
It's funny how what you prefer from your entertainment changes as your grow older. As a kid, I was obsessed with crazy spots and aerial moves. Now that I'm older, those things just make me cringe out of fear of injury for the wrestlers. Now, I love the storytelling elements, the psychology and overall mat wrestling. Gunther embodies these elements. His matches keep me captivated. I still can't get over how good that Mania triple threat match was. His recent match with Gable was fantastic too. Even though he's a heel, I'm cheering for this guy! He deserves everything he's got and more. Can't wait to see how the rest of his career unfolds 💯

Gunther is one of the only current male wrestlers in WWE I actually really like right now. He just has an aura to him that makes him such a joy to watch, especially the way he carries himself in and out of the ring! Definitely a future world champ in my eyes! 💪
In an age of captivating and complex sequences of acrobatic and very choreographed moves, Gunther has managed to feel special and standout without any of that, there is beauty in the simplicity of his work, I can't put it to words but you have to admit his matches feel different to others
This is because he has a very unique style. His moveset is limited, but he has 3 different semi finishers that can finish the match, but it usually takes multiple of them. Because of this he’s different from the signature move and finisher move formula
He seems like such a respectful & nice guy. A perfect wrestler. Hope he beats the record tbh. He deserves it for bringing prestige back to the Intercontinental title.
Like truly the modern day wrestlers have more freedom to be themselves outside the ring but they are very dedicated to their characters when it's time to put the character on

I love that he is a dominant heel without any cowardice or the need to cheat all the time...or in Gunther's case, EVER. Was there even a single title defence that he didn't win clean? I can't remember, which again is astonishing considering he actually has a stable just like Miz did. I can't recall even a single other stable of that format (1 main guy and 2 goons) where the goons didn't cause distractions pretty much all the time...Imperium is the polar opposite where more often than not they're not even at ringside for the important IC title defences
I've really used to hate Gunther, mostly for his wrestling style and over-use of chops, which amplifies his cocky character a lot. However that changed after seeing a couple interviews of him. The guy is wholesome, well-mannered, polite and honest that it's simply impossible to dislike him. It just proves how much talented performer he is 👏
How he Carries himself, how respectful he is when he speaks. Never treats himself or his persona like he's worth more. He just delivers amazing matches. Nobody deserves to break the record more than The Ring General 🔥

I got back into WWE earlier this year and for no reason I decided I didn't like Gunther but he basically forced me to be a fan through his performance and interviews. The 2023 Royal Rumble was the first thing I watched from WWE in over 8 years and I thought it was dumb as hell for Gunther to last so long, but re-watching it, it's hype af my guy goes on a warpath in that ring.

He deserves it, all of it. He’s been having classic after classic, especially after the Symphony of destruction trilogy. Longest single time in a rumble, longest wwe uk champion, longest IC champion of the 21st Century. Not so his character, but With his style in and moves in the ring, he Reminds me of Kenta Kobashi.
I would have loved to see how he responded to the picture of Jack Starz from NXT UK after their match when Starz had Walter/Gunther's literal handprint on his chest.
He really does. He never comes across as having much of a personality due to the character. Chris is also just such a pleasant, easy-going interviewer and I think that helps too.

In my opinion LA Knight should be the one to end Gunther’s IC title reign. It’s a win-win for both of them. Ending Gunther’s reign and becoming IC champion will help cement Knights growing popularity and shoot him to the atmosphere. And it will free up Gunther to have that eventual World Championship run, whether it be the Heavyweight Championship or the Universal Championship.

Honestly I love Walters respect for the ring as his whole character but if there's one thing I wish he did a bit less was using his imperium group members to attack people or run away sometimes when he's dominant enough to beat people up and wrestle solo. Guys had amazing matches as champ
