Thanks to your educational information, I actually left a dealership happy for the first time in well over twenty years. I had to walk away from one deal, and I really liked the truck, but hated the costs associated to own it. 18% interest and a payment in the low 600’s, all because I have a less than impressive credit score (it starts with a 6xx). I walked away and the salesman tried again and got it to 480-500 @ 13%. I told him I wanted to check with my credit union and they wanted a lower price due to LTV and the wouldn’t budge past $500 off the list price. I was approved for $18,500 on that truck, but something told me to look closer one more time. The next day I found a truck four years newer and 400 dollars more @ $18,900. I closed that deal with 6% interest and low $400’s per month, taxes and registration included all with the same credit score. Thanks Mike!
Jeremy Cribb Wow! Nice!!
How did you get them to do 6%
13% to 6%, performing miracles there
Good job. You used the number one weapon that all buyers have in their arsenal, but many don't use. And that is the power of walking away.
ChevyDude: Especially millennials, ESPECIALLY YOU, MILLENNIALS; You need to pay attention to this really, really closely….
Me being a Millennial: *Turns phone screen from vertical to horizontal*
Haha exactly
hahahahahaha facts
Yea my friends are hard headed
🤣🤣🤣 facts
this guy just spoils us with this info, just crashed my baby looking for a replacement and chevy dude walks us through step by step what to look out for and what to avoid/what not to say etc. love it. im not a GM guy but i would def go to u
Love all the information you provide to your subscribes and viewers. Thanks for sharing Mike.
Thank you for making me more knowledgeable and comfortable in car buying. I’ve been researching for a few months now and I’m ready to make a purchase. Ur awesome 👏🏼
Great integrity! Honesty is refreshing in today's world whether you're buying a car, furniture, or a garage door. Thank you!!
Your videos on car buying are awesome. I jotted down your “9 Fees not to pay” before going in a dealership. It saved me like $3-5,000. NO LIE!! This video will help out a lot too. I’ve asked before for the “No BS” sheet when handed worksheets that make no since to the buyer.
Used your videos to purchase my new Ranger, very informative. It's not the world's greatest deal, but it's a smaller dealership. Besides as you said, profit is not a dirty word. Business still needs to run .
So far 4 dealerships all Chevrolet for a New 2020 Colorado Z71. Would not remove 1095.00 delivery charge. It was on the sticker price so they were double dipping. Charged processing fee of 500 not the 75.00 state one. On average; at dealer for three hours each. Trade was valued at $500. $2,000. $3500. and $2,000. Had check in hand. They all said they participated in the GM discount. None gave me the discount. And I qualified for 2. I was hoping the things you tried to teach us; would work, but I was not surprised when it didn't. So disappointed. Not buying anything now. My other car is less than three years old. Will drive my car in to the ground and then buy from private sellers only. The only good thing was that I didn't get upset, because I knew the BS was coming. It made walking out so easy. Good luck to everyone else!!!
I have Colorado’s in Stock. Let’s connect and get you the truck you have worked so hard to get. ChevyDude.com
Great video, as usual Mike! I'm in the early process of buying a new truck and have already run into a few of the negatives you mention.
Good video. Love the template. Seems like basic info. But it's nice to get a refresher! Thanks!
Thanks this information help me out tremendously along with other videos you have. Plan on purchasing a car very very soon have my eyes on one just took notes about to make it a great deal. Keep being awesome
Thank you for demystifying this whole process of buying a car 🙏🏽
Go check out 'the homework guy' on RUclips. Help show you more!
great video Mike! Thanks so much!
Chevy Dude you have empowered a man who was filling powerless when it comes to this subject.
Thank you for the info. You know how it is when they see a women walk in. So, I always try and prepare myself, and walk out when I don't get what I want.
1. You can skip all this stuff he's jotting on some chalkboard. Just because he's trying to dazzle you with data doesn't mean you're going to get the best deal from him. Find out what the MSRP of the vehicle is. Determine what is a fair bottom line price. All you want to know is what the car is going to cost you "out the door" - the final price you're going to see at the bottom of the contract they write. Decide if it's a good price, and if not move on to another dealer. A lot of dealers try to add on some sort of "administrative fee". That's baloney. This figure is always flexible. Again, the out-the-door price is all you're interested in. How they juggle their numbers to arrive at the out-the-door price you're requiring is not your concern.
2. If you're offered last year's model - the dealer's new-car surplus left over from last year - you're buying a year old car. If the manufacturer and dealer aren't willing to absorb the depreciation of the older model, move on to another dealer. This older model is always going to be valued at a lot less than the current model year when it comes to the equity in your new car purchase.
3. Always arrange your own financing. The dealer will usually try to get you to use their financing plan which is, most of the time, higher than what you can get on your own from a local bank or credit union, unless you don't have good credit. The dealer makes money off the financing. They have a contract with the finance company - they get a kickback. And, don't tell them how much a month you can afford in car payment. They will use that to try to pull you into their financing plan. If you've already figured that out by calling your bank first, then it's not a factor when negotiating a price with the dealer. Your bank has already told you, based on the trade-in value of your car, the interest rate, and the ballpark figure of a car you're looking at, what you can expect your monthly payment will be. If you can't afford such a monthly payment or down payment, adjust your expectations of what car you can afford.
Take your time, don't rush into a bad deal. Let your bank or credit union be your ally.
Basically that is what he is doing...showing us how the tricks work..
Very well said. Im not sure why people still play games with dealerships in this day and age of information overload.
In my experience. Consumers are playing more games today. It’s insane.
@@ChevyDude can you elaborate on that? It may be helpful for anyone trying to buy a new vehicle and not want to cause the salesman any disinterest in them as a customer.
@@ChevyDude I'm one of those consumers. Ford Focus for $13,199 sticker.
My last deal was on a car with 6K miles. Being in transferable power train warranty I wasn't super concerned about the state of the vehicle (it looked great online). The dealership was a 2hr drive and I told the dealership I wasn't interested in driving four hours round trip to look at a car and not buy it so... 13K out the door (provided the car checks out when I get there).
"That's to low, we can't do that. 14K?"
Lose the tax and I'll pay sticker of $13.2.
"Meet us half way at 13.5K?"
My offer stands, please let me know if you change your mind.
I got a text the next afternoon with my offer being accepted.
Honest guy so far.. I like it
Love your advice! 😊👍Thank you!
Awesome videos! Thanks for all of the knowledge
Great hands on catching the spinning marker. Oh, & the info was pretty good too. LOL!
Can you change your name to ChevyDad? I’m 26 and barely getting the change to earn my freedom in the sense of learning to drive, now that I’m more comfortable and less anxious on the road, I’m looking into cars but I know there is so much more information that comes along, so having you to explain all of these things to me is so amazing and kind and very fatherly to me. I appreciate you so so much! Thank you ChevyDad!!!!
Wow, the double dipping of sales tax in Illinois......I bought my truck in Illinois in October 2018 which was 6.5%.I live in Indiana and sales tax is 7%
I paid 6.5%at the dealer and the remaining .5% in Indiana when I went to plate my truck. 3 of the last 4 vehicles we bought came from Illinois. That might stop now.
Thanks for the tips and I enjoy the channel. A lot of good info plus you mix it up with what you do so it's not always about car sales.
Great info I needed it , planning to buy a car soon
Another great video. Thanks.
Omg’ when I saw the 4 square thing I had flash backs to a local dealership in my area. I felt such a bad vibe from then once I revived that paper.
There were only 2 dealerships who gave me your way of doing the net price and they were amazing and ironically they are who I am going with. Same company just differbet dealerships
Just stumbled on this page. In the market for a KIA Telluride and trying to absorb all of this stuff. Mike, you're a stand up dude! Thanks! *Subscribed
Going to get one today maybe any luck with your buy how did it go?
@@ernestinaboateng1325 Hey Ernestina, we ended up buying a Hyundai Palisade almost a year ago and have loved it! Definitely compare the two and drive both before buying.
@@shanehayes9349
will do ..I didn’t think about it to much b/c the front throws me off bit lol but how do you like it ? what made you choose it over the Kia ?
I wish I could bring you with me to buy a car T___T
Seriously, me too!! 😜
Why so you pay the MSRP price 😂 😂 he’s ripping you off
You could take him with you , ie buy a car from him
@@tingtingnoy3133 you wish you could get msrp.
@@supreme5998 do you even know what your talking about?
Thanks I really appreciate the info. There’s not a lot of helpful sales people out there.
Emma Johnson we exist, but you’re right, not enough
Learned a lot thank you for the information
Thanks for this information, buying my first vehicle in the next couple of weeks here in California 😬
How was your experience? I'm going to purchase soon and would love your feedback on your experience using Chevy dude's tips
Great video brother keep up the awesome work
Just Subbed, Great and informative videos! Any tips on when to mention you have and how much of a down -payment you have?
You are a rare gem! Thank you
Great, informative video!
Never pay MSRP price you can go online find out the true invoice price of the vehicle, plus all the options have a invoice price to , plus you can find the dealers cash back as well to get the real price
He kinda threw me off right there, saying your going to pay MSRP??? No way is that right, typical care salesman... that’s the first thing you do, get a better price, settling for the msrp is ridiculous
Thank You! Very informative.
Damn dude thank you very informative love you guy 💪🏽
Thanks Chevy Dude!
Good content. Very basic information, but absolutely necessary. I wish my daughter had asked me or watched your video before purchasing. It’s too late for me to help, so I just keep my mouth shut and say, “ Nice car Sweetie”. 😕 I don’t wish you anything but good luck, but lord I hope those doors don’t happen. 🥴
I really appreciate "the Kramer" on your wall.
He's not a good person. Kramer
That I agree with 100
in missouri they will not even figure it sales tax unless you tell them to add it. otherwise you pay it when you tag it. it helps that way cause it will help lower your monthly payment. since the bank is financing a smaller loan. the advice to take a pix of the maroney sticker or print it off is a great thing to do. i have seen a lot of crooked salesmen do the ol bait and switch car sale then if the dealer has addendums they will start the price off at the higher price and still even try to sell the add-on crap
I hope you plan on doing a video on the new 3.0 inline 6 diesel Silverado when it becomes available.
Good info Mike
hi Mike. nice vid. liked b4 watching b/c i knew it was going to b good
I want the worksheet but I don’t generally just give out my phone number. I don’t need any salespeople calling me.
Simple, fake number works best!
I was listening so intently, until the Kramer portrait showed up. Then I got so amused, I forgot how to listen. Haha, love it.
Mike great info Thanks Be Cool can’t wait to see your 2020 Vette. 🇺🇸
Ok I couldn't focus, I was too busy laughing at Kramer!😂😂😂🤣
I had that same Cramer photo growing up lmaoo. That was a blast from the past
Great video! I could not find the worksheet though
I have MRR HR9s on my TL. Great wheels, never had a balance issue.
Thanks for the great explanation, I feel empowered
Great info
Dude, You are one of a VANISHING BREED!!! An "HONEST" Car Salesman - what a CONCEPT!!! I know you can sleep well at night - all that is possible when you DON'T screw ppl over huh?!
Whoa, is that Kramer painting the original from the series, or a print. If that's the original then you sir, are the coolest person on RUclips.
Hello how are you doing this is a great video I hope to learn more. 👍
Great information To Know..
Do a video on negative equity plz
Now that you've given all your great advice on buying a car. I've thought about supplementing my income by selling cars. Some great tips on being a good car salesman, would be nice. Thank you.
Great info! The link to the worksheet that was mentioned in the video is not working.
Awesome video
Thank you for all the info you providing.. what do you think about these Telluride having "mark up " price. At least 5 to 10k mark up because the market is hot. What is that all about??
Watching this video stresses me out because I can’t stand the way some of theses dealers play games, I live in Orlando by the way. I’d rather jump on a flight and buy a car from your dealer and drive it back then deal with some of these crooked dealers here. Great video 👍🏼
IAN OLMO I live in Orlando, go to Holler Hyundai, they have great customer service and don’t play the games other dealerships play.
@@ericcantillo4020 ALL car dealers play games. They use the contract form to their advantage. They've used that form thousands of times. The best thing you can do is become totally familiar with the retail form, review all figures. Do not ask the dealer to explain any figures - they will lie to your face. Remember, if it's not written on the contract form it doesn't mean a thing.
just call him he can do it on the phone
Good info
Thank you..
Some videos on YT makes you laugh. This channel saves you thousands of dollars.
Wow ether you really care or this is your lick I hope is coming from heart because I really am happy someone from car sales aspect tell this to humans. Thank you
Well done videos and that comes from a Ford guy. How does a dealer evaluate a trade that is out of state?
Rewatching your video’s..!!!
Finally a video that isn't about the Corvette
Thank you
LOL
Yeah, I wish I could take you there with me. I’m planning to buy a new car. Thanks guy.
my town has a 0.5% car tax on vehicles added to the state sales tax regardless of where you buy the vehicle from.
Courtesy of Scotty Kilmer, don't buy a used make from a dealer that sells the same, ex, used Chevy from Chevy dealer, used Toyota from Toyota dealer. You'll wind up paying more. Buy, used Chevy from Toyota dealer, used Toyota from Chevy dealerfor example.
toyoscio There might be some logic there on dealer repairs, but I have to disagree with Scotty there. If I find and can negotiate a good deal on a decent car I don’t let anything stand in my way.
I wish you operated in Central Florida. I’d buy from you. Looking to buy before the end of Sept.
I would take a Road Trip to come and see you.To help me to get a good deal on a car. You are true to your words.
Let’s do it. We can have everything done over the phone before you arrive.
I was not able to find the worksheet on the link. I got a 404 File Not Found error message. But I took notes... Thanks!
Set there!!
Hi Mike,
Do these tips go towards a C8 as well? I am thinking it coould be difficult as there is someone waiting in the wings...its not like buying a Tahoe.
Cheers,
Kevin
Ottawa, Canada
Set there!
I am learning a lot. Will be buying a Ford Ranger...you don't happen to have Ford dealership also, do you...so I am extraordinarily interested. Question- you get to net price. That is where there profit is at its maximum and where you negotiating price begins, correct?
Hey Mike, I accidentally stumbled across your series of videos, but I am interested because my truck is getting older & I might be in the market to replace it soon. You have mentioned in more than one video to ask the dealer to write a check for my trade. But what if they are shifty and say "Sure," even though they think I am bluffing? Do I follow it through to test their scruples? Thanks for all your insights.
Unfortunately I could get sheet to download man!!! Very informative though
my dude, Chevy Dude what tips would you recommend a first time buyer with no trade in and ok credit?
Great vid Mike, now take my money and sell me a truck🤣😂
The template form isn’t listed on the webpage
You’re the ideal guy a woman should be with when purchasing a car. 💪💪💪
Yes! Can you loan yourself out when I go to the dealer!
I can't seem to get the form to work on your website for the car buying template?
Mike let’s be real payments is what makes deal . With that said they need to educate especially when it comes to payments and dealers fees. If a person doesn’t cheek online to see what average discounts are along with manufacturer rebates are on the vehicle they want to purchase they are going to be taken to cleaners .
How do I download your worksheet? I do not see it. Please help. Thank you!
Hey Brother the sheet is not available anymore. Could you update the link. Thanks!
A lease just finances the gap between purchase price and residual value. Closed-end leases allow you to purchase it at lease end for the stated residual value, so if it’s worth more than residual at lease end, you can trade it in - value above residual is yours. If it’s worth less, walk away.
So, is it different if you are actually building a truck since there isn't one on the lot with all your options already and your bank doing the financing?
awesome👍✌️🙏
The link for the car buying template is not working, gives 404 error. I can make one of my own from video I believe. Thanks for the great info.
