This was an absolutely wonderful interview and demo of the E-drums. He sounded super playing all of the different sound of the drum with true authenticity. This is what a demo should be.Thank you Omar!!!
my first e-drum was a syndrome...'83..we used it on a Prince tune...I saw Omar with Sting on the Blue Turtles Tour at the old Charlotte Coliseum., man that was the f'n bomb...
Best fuckin' HONEST interview of a professional drummer who's also an e-drummer! I was a little kid when this guy was in the high school called Music & Art (New York City). He was the baddest drummer in the school.... guess nothing has changed!!
Bee Gee...I saw your comment as the video came to an end, and I said ...'Fuckin awesome that he loves Roland'......then I see your comment! Total affirmation!!!
that's why I got my TD50, ROLAND is the best, beautiful sound and quality. I love it, all I have is Roland. TD50, spd sx se, and fa08 piano. I REALLY LOVE ROLAND BRAND. GOD BLESS YOU.
Funny how Omar mentioned "Manny's Music" on 48th Street. True story: I walked in Manny's one day, back in the 90's, to buy a pair of sticks...I was out of work, so I happened to ask one of the guys in the drum department if they were hiring. He points me to the manager, a tall, cool white guy whose name I cannot remember for the life of me but I later found out he was Buddy Rich's son-in-law. Dude hires me on the spot, just doing handy work, no sales. All drums. Anyway...a get to meet a few artistes that live in the city (Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Isaac Hayes...) and they were pretty cool dudes. One day, Omar walks in. I'm in complete awe of this dude...but he's a regular, so he greets everybody and everybody greets him like they're family. I'm doing my work, so I don't bother to go bother him. Omar does his business, says his goodbyes and casually leaves the store. About 10 or 15 minutes later, I go off duty to go on my lunch break and today I decide I'm gonna go the McDonalds around the corner in Times Square. As soon as I walk in, who's sitting there having lunch himself but Omar. I grabbed my food tray and go up to him and ask him if he doesn't mind sharing the table. Omar was so cool, so polite and so gracious....he allowed me to invade his time and he was so classy about it. I told him about how awesome he was on that solo he did on Sting's "I Burn For You" and Omar was so humble about it, he told me with a smile that he couldn't remember which drum solo I was talking about. LOL! I took my hint and rushed through my meal so as to not be any more obtrusive, then I excused myself and bade him farewell. Coolest dude, ever, man.
I also play a TD10 but I don't consider it a successor of an acoustic kit, that's just a solution for portability and the lack of an acoustic work space
While I do come from the 'old school' and do find it hard to believe that there may come a day where the electronic drums will be the 'equal' of the acoustic set. -->But, given the versatility of sounds that the kit/brain can offer --- it could be possible.... I remember being 'stunned' with the v-drum sound over 10 years ago. Now, with the latest 'flagship' offering..... Maybe, there could be a day where e-drummers get their 'props', also... Time will tell...
Hey Omar, could you convince Roland to just decrease their prices buy like 500 dollars? I'm a beginning drummer on a budget and I'd rlly like to get that TD-11kv. I know you can convince anyone! Great drumming btw, and cool story to go with it.
they have them starting at 500 $ & up ....even lower on ebay and craigslist.....lol...u won't find what he's play'n for 5oo. anything's possible when folks are desperate for cash
td30's and now 50's are top of the line and we all know that, i enjoyed tge interview up until Omar began sounding like a salesman.. enthusiasm is everything but its a bummer to hear those little comments like "lets just say some Vdrums sold that day" (smirk)... super cringy..
What a great story teller Omar is. All his interviews are really cool

What a class act Omar Hakim is. Love this guy.
this is the first guy who i feel actually knows what he is talking about-not just selling me a kit- he is a working musician. cant wait to get one!
did you get one?
My high school buddy still is such an inspiration to me filled with Omar's energy that makes him truly one of a kind.😊
my first e-drum was a syndrome...'83..we used it on a Prince tune...I saw Omar with Sting on the Blue Turtles Tour at the old Charlotte Coliseum., man that was the f'n bomb...
Who am I to argue with Omar. Great interview.

😍
Great Drummer!! Excellent interview!
Really nice kit, and a really good drummer
I like his personality and obviously talent . Could he be the next drummer for Rush ? Hmmmm
beautiful playing and promotion. just wondering about the cymbals? Don't look like the Roland things I got.
Thanks for posting!
This kit is better than an accoustic kit for many reasons, and if prices come down I ever drummer will own this kit. My opinion only.
What amplification\speaker system is Omar using at home?
Sou muito fâ desse drum mam

It doesn't matter, how good electronic equipment gets, Vinnie, Omar, Steve G, Steve S and all of their peers won't be eclipsed.

Well this is a Roland channel set up to sell Roland stuff. He's pitching to sell Roland stuff.
I’m sorry I did not know jerry Douglas has died
Am I the only one who thinks that Omar looks like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar? :)
Seem like you are the only one..hahaha
