I drank beer with axel rose, Shannon Hoon and John Mellencamp at a musical festival in Bloomington Indiana in 1993. Best day of my life other than my kids being born
So I was dating a young lady who's brother was in a band with Shannon before blind melon. My girlfriend brother asked us if we wanted to go to a winery called Oliver's before a big music festival a little further south in Bloomington. Long story short, Shannon was with him at the winery!! We had some wine tasting and cheese and then we all went to the concert together and had a blast. A little before it was over, Shannon gets a message from a rodey for John Mellencamp who was working for one of the bands. The message...... do you want to come to Lake Monroe to John's house for an after party. Apparently John and axel were either back stage at the concert or observing in cognito. So of course we tagged along, because we'll who wouldn't and John said it would be OK. Elaine Irwin who was John's wife at the time told the security to let us through the gate. Next thing I know I'm in a room with these 3 incredible musicians and quite a few more people. I'm not going to exaggerate and say that we became best friends, but they did know my name within the hour or so being in their immediate presence. I'm guessing there were some other famous people there that night but my full attention was with the fact that I was sitting within 10 feet of these 3 guys, who I absolutely loved, and felt like I was part of their inner circle. John actuality gave me tickets to the Hoosier basketball game against Purdue for the following winter. I think it was January or February 94. John actually had his own little personal space at assembly hall, so we met him in that room before the game for a few minutes and went on our way. Needless to say I cherish every minute I spent that day and could almost recite the entire encounter. Thanks for asking me to relive this and share my story.

I'm a huge GNR fan. Slash is the Goat. Actually growing up my family had a Rottweiler and I named it Axel Rose after the GNR singer.
Oh man...WHAT a voice that Axl Rose has...omg..

Yellow is my favorite too
Kill your Idols was something Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols said in the late 70s. Additionally Kill Your Idols was an American hardcore punk band from New York.
