Hello!!
This is a double pastel portrait of a baby child and her grandmother. It was really challenging work! The baby was so small and delicate..The work was made on Canson paper using soft pastels.

I find it interesting how you seem to go from the lights to the darks.... in oil painting we generally go from darks to lights....

Hello Graciella, what kind of pencil are you using for the lips. That is my biggest challenge when I make portraits. It's hard to keep my hand steady going across as I draw lips. Especially when I make a decision to oil paint a sketched charcoal.

I also have a lot of troubles with the lips..I think that working only with pencils don't make a natural look..
This is why I start with a pastel base first, that allows me to paint the details with pencils later...

can i knw....how to correct when we do mistakes on doing our art with pastel?can it be erased with normal eraser?

Hello Bob...Good question.
It is really difficult to correct a mistake. You can if it is a small mistake. But you can´t erase...You can cover or conceal sometimes..
Sometimes I had to restart the work due to mistakes...If it is a big error it is better to start from scratch.

Hello Graciela, those pencils that kindv look like marker or brush tips that u use over d chalk pastel in adding more details.. What are they?so far, I've got chalk pastel and pastel pencils

WOW. Here I am struggling with charcoal and graphite and you’re creating pastel portrait drawing seem so natural that everyone could draw them.
I’ve seen this video before but watching it tonight was inspiring, especially after having a really bad day. That’s when I pull out paper and pencil and start drawing.

Dear Madam..Kindly suggest me that do u use fixative spary to fix the pastel colors ? I m interested in portrait. I used cretacolr pastel, gallery soft pastels and spray on canson sheet and my portrait gt dusty and dull

Hello, can you please tell me what you use for the skin tone colors? I'm a newbie on pastel and my art teacher likes realistic art and we're doing chalk pastel, and i'm trying to figure out about the baby skin tone. Please do tell!
While the skin tone, do you put the medium color first, then dark, and lastly white? I'm still a little confuse about blending what colors goes first. Sorry for asking lots of questions. >~
StarSkyArt Start..It is really up to you in which order you put the colors..What I can tell you is that is is always easier to darken some colors than clear them...

Boa noite, lindo demais seus trabalhos artísticos, me inspiro u a iniciar o mundo das cores, ja faço desenhos com grafite razoavelmente bons, tenho um pouquinho de daltonismo mas enxergo todas as cores, não resisti a beleza de seus trabalhos e vou iniciar, com pasel seco , vai ser um pouco dificil mais com a inspiração de sua pinturas e muito trei no vou conseguir, também com as bençãos que me vem do Céu,,, cinceramente obrigado.

It looks like a pastel holder with a hard pastel that has been rounded with use

Koh-i-noor makes a lead holder and it used a slim stick of pastel. They call it chalk. I think amazon carries it. The pastle comes with six sticks. I think that is what is being used. I hope this helps. Maybe Graceiela can explain it. Gioconda chalk!
