I'm probably in for this. I LOVE TCG products that are playable "off the shelf" board game style and this coming with all the accessories you need and the table is really appealing to me.
its a pity that the basic evolution lines are only 1 card and no 3-3-3, that will be absolutely worth it to pay that much amount of money for it. Still the mat for playing and the holo oaks, energies and DCE its very tempting.
Deff supporting the yellow boarder. I like my holos centered with room to breathe. I think holo everywhere is looks like a gawdy sticker you would put on your grade school trapper keeper 😂
@@shuckletcg I would have been probably fine with them if that’s how we always had them, but now we’re in this weird transition period we’re half of your deck is yellow and the other is silver. I don’t like that. I really wish they would have waited to change the color until after 151 drops.
Over about a year and a half, I've gradually collected the complete Base set, fossil, and jungle theme decks. I want the Rockets, but they've jumped a good bit in price so we'll see. I bought them all used, and I have enjoyed teaching friends and coworkers to play using the original decks. The amount of eBay listings with one of the decks minus the holo card, where the owner mailed off the holo card for grading during peak covid, was really frustrating. It's a bummer that people will just parse this out for sale or grading. We'll see.
It's gonna depend on price point and scarcity for me, but as of right now, I think I'm gonna pass on it. Super cool product for sure, and I'm thrilled for the vending Mr Mime, but for less than the cost of this, someone could build these decks with real cards. Of course you won't get the exclusives or the fun trinkets, but those can be substituted. Regardless, cool product
Honestly I would like to see a version of this product that is “cheaper” and more “affordable”. I was thinking what if they came out with a version that is $20~$30 similar to the Battle Academy Product. Instead of all the cards being holographic they could be “all” non Holo versions of the cards featured in the three decks. This way it will allow both types of fans to be able to purchase the Premium Version or the more affordable version.

Hi. Target demographic for 151 era Pokémon. I’m much more a player than collector. In that sense this appeals me much more than collecting the 151 set. Also, I will likely do both.
Was looking into these. I seen them at the local shops but info seemed to be scarce. Cool set for sure but $400 is a tall price for non graded cards you can't officially play with. If I'm going to have cards I can't actually play with, they are going to be graded for value purposes.
The product is amazing but the price point is eye watering. I’m more interested in the accessories than the cards, so hopefully I can pick that up at a good price 🤞🏻
im personally not bothered by the non-holo boarders on the English cards. in fact, im not really sure how I feel about this particular holo effect in general. its ok but im just not that crazy about it.
Was originally excited to buy this, but I was exciting multiple copies of charizard, blastoise, and venusaur. 1 copy of each won’t be any fun to play. Also mixing all the different Pokémon in there like a sun and moon Hypno feels cheap and ruins the nostalgia for me. I don’t mind them being non tournament legal it’s just a shame that they had to spell it out like that. Should have been a symbol and then they could write in there website that it’s not legal.
Why must it always be based off value? Like how much the deck boxes cost, how much the counters cost and seeing if it's "worth it". If you like something and have the disposable income for it then buy it lol.
almost every FB group I'm in, every one will be breaking these collector sets to get the cards graded, or resold. I know maybe a handful of collectors that are keeping it as a full set. the rest have gutted these for parts. Same for the Japanese versions. Grading has become ridiculous.
The reprints are cool, I like playing physical retro formats and this helps a lot actually. But I am not a fan of holo cards in general as they bend. This product is also overpriced.
Exactly, this set gives me more of a collector’s vibe as opposed to a player’s vibe. Make this set mundane as possible we couldn’t careless how boring it looks!
I live where its impossible to get in person vintage battles, so I think the fact that its 3 complete vintage (well, mostly...) decks could be worth a buy - if it doesn't get scalped to high hell. Having complete decks full of the classics (big 3, mewtwo, pikachu) ready to break out is extremely appealing. Does give me an idea about purchasing the base set theme decks (brushfire, zap etc) and upgrading them with oaks/bills/searches and adding in like Charizard to brushfire, venasaur to overgrowth etc. Just balancing them, giving them more playability, and adding more classics to them. Maybe that would be better. That would be a true classic experience. Maybe there's an idea for a future video for you haha. It does feel a tinge overpriced so if it gets scalped (or people "invest" ugh) I will in all likelihood pass. I have no interest in supporting those kinds of people in this hobby.
I feel ya. I don't mind people buying products as collection pieces for themselves, but the mindset of scalpers or "investors" gets irritating. Hopefully it gets a massive print run and stays around MSRP.

It's the mass buying out and storing of otherwise useful vintage (or current) product that ends up excluding many players and collectors. As for the Japanese vs English card borders, I didn't really care. But I had a second look last night and those golden borders on the Japanese cards should have been standard in English since base set! They really make all the old school cards look beautiful. Dont know why they went to the fat yellow borders.

I don’t know if you meant you were going to actually buy them and add the cards from the classic set to improve the old theme decks or were you suggesting for TPCi to rerelease the old theme decks with better cards from the classic set.
@@skillracoonful Sure! There's a lot of nostalgia with the base set theme decks, but they're not particularly consistent decks, lacking draw/search trainers/double colourless. But the good thing is that they're all around the same power level (well, blackout is pretty strong, but anyway). If you add those types of cards (and things like Charizard etc to the appropriate deck if you want) and play them against each other, it probably would create a more consistent and enjoyable experience that is base set only (!!) rather than just playing the unedited theme decks out of the box against each other. And since Pokemon like Charizard arent viable in the actual base set format, a controlled environment like upgraded theme decks would be an environment where it could get some actual play use. You dont need to buy the tcg classic set to do this. All the base set trainers are fairly cheap.

This set looks cool but it just seems like it was aimed at collectors in mind with all the fancy stuff in it. If this was aimed at actual players all things in this set would look mundane comparison and not so fancy-looking. No holos, and no leather deck boxes. The playmats look too fancy as well.

No holo border is a deal breaker for me. If i find it in japanese, I might, but this is a huge disapointment for me wanting premium fixed decks.
