Hello. I am in the process of making 14 pillows for an event, and I just wanted to take a minute and say thank you for this great tutorial. Easy to follow, and my pillows look amazing! I honestly can't imagine why anyone would make pillow covers any other way.
Thanks for the tutorial! I’m making Christmas pillows with matching throws for friends& family this holiday.. Your method will make this a breeze! Happy Sewing
I can't tell u how many of these directions I have watched. Yours is the answer to my prayer. So I can use yours for any size pillow. I give u a 10. Simple precise and tomthe point.
This is hands-down the best video I've found on how to make an envelope pillow cover and I've watched quite a few while trying to figure this out! Thank you!! 🙏
Thank you so much! Such a great tutorial!! I was able to make a pillowcase I ignored for YEARS because I was afraid of trying something new and sucking at it. Uhhhh MY PILLOW LOOKS FANTASTIC! Thank you!!! I've made 3 pillows in the last 2 days and I'm feeling so excited to try to make something else.
Good morning from Lewiston, Maine 💙. I'm 53 going on 54 and am ready to revisit sewing that I have only ever done from middle school sewing class! Basically, I am learning to sew all over again. This is such a beautifully perfect tutorial! It looks like the perfect project to try first after I relearn how to use the machine I have. What a beautiful time to be alive with the ability to learn almost anything online! Thank you so very much! I'm subscribed!
This is actually Bill's wife, Charmaine. I am not much of a seamstress, and I secretly hoped my mom would offer to make the pillow covers for me, but she told me to look on RUclips...so I did! I am so proud of myself so far, 3 of 6 made today. Your directions were so easy to follow, so thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial. This was my first sewing project and your video was so informative. You are a talented, gifted teacher. I appreciated your lesson. I did my best, and finished the project and now I’m excited to find a new one. Thank you!
You couldn’t be more clear! Thank you so much. A perfect problem solved. I said yes I would sew a cover and then found the perfect person to show me how.
I have not sewed since Jr. High and I am well over 40. I was always intimidated by the sewing machine. Your directions were clear and easy. I am buying an inexpensive machine and this will be my first project. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I've had pillow forms and fabric in my closet for a few years (yep, years) My children are grown now but I felt intimidated and out of practice. This is a perfect way to break in my new sewing machine.
Wow this was the best pillow tutorial I have seen! Thank you for making this project seem less daunting to me. I just purchased a supply of fall fabrics and I'm excited to get started. Thank you so much!
Wonderful instructions for sewing the easiest pillow covers ever! I needed 30 inch pillows to make a couch for my front porch out of a twin bed ... and needed BIG pillows to act as a more solid "back" ... these instructions were exactly what I needed. My first pillow, for some reason, had kind of "empty points" at the corners (the insert's stuffing doesn't make it out to the corners very well), so on my second cover I rounded the corners of the cover, and that solved my problem!
Absolutely love your tutorial! Pleasant to listen to and your explanations are on point. My sister and I are beginners (at out late ages 😁) and we made four beautiful pillows today! Thank you!
Easiest pillow cover I have ever sewn. I was able to do 2 pillows in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. I will be referring friends to this tutorial. Thank you so much for such clear instructions.. 10 stars !!!
Thanks so much for posting this, I have three made today and a bunch more on the way for my 2 couches-I even reused the old pillow inside that were in decent shape as the inside on a few. 👍🏻 I've only sewn two things, rectangle runners for my end tables. Your tutorial was so easy to understand for a brand new sewing guy and truth be told I did a heck of a good job thanks to you. My two nieces for Christmas will get throw pillows with funky fabrics, I'm so excited for the possibilities. By happenstance I made a grocery bag from a nice print old throw pillow I replaced, it's the perfect size.❤️ Being able to wash these is key and the simplicity of making them with an excellent look is so appreciated., I subscribed.😎
You are a genius! Thank you so much for this wonderfully clear and detailed tutorial. I made a beautiful set of pillow covers and am so happy with them. Much easier than the 3 piece envelope cover tutorials I found elsewhere.
My mother used to collect saris. Now that she's downsizing so gave them to me. One of them matches the new rug I just bought and I'm going to make pillow covers for my living room. Thank you so so much for this tutorial.
I just made this! I must say this was the best 8 min tutorial I have ever seen, it was quick and very easy to follow! I am so excited to make more. Thank you for sharing!
Nice, clear easy to follow instructions! For non-sewing people (well, those who aren't confident sewing much at all:) these instructions have been VERY helpful! Thank you!
I have watched at least ten tutorials on these and they were all so complicated for something I thought would be an easy first home decor project! Yours is amazing! Thank you SO much, from a newbie! XOXO ❤️
Wow, Jann! This was such an easy project! I haven't sewn in more than 15 years and this short tutorial was SO helpful and my pillow covers turned out super cute! What a fun way to redecorate! Thank you! :)
Thank you!! I’ve tried sewing skirts and keep making mistakes that cause the skirts to not be wearable. I finally was able to finish a project that is USABLE!! So excited!
Love this tutorial. Question for you though. You indicated do a fabric cut on the length of the pillow at 18", the length of the form. I thought that you always add an inch to the form length to allow for a half inch seam allowance when sewing the two sides. Please explain your reasoning to cut the fabric to the exact size of the form. Thank you !
I don't add in seam allowances for pillow covers. I think it makes the covers too big. I like covers that fit snugly on the pillow form. Thanks for watching!
Thanks to your help, I managed to make pillow cases for my Mother last week. I'm really grateful for the short, easy to follow practical advice. Thanks!!!
@@JannNewtonSewOftenThank you so much for posting this. I am making pillow covers for my friend that owns a boutique, My pillows have not turned out good at all with the zippers, I am definitely going to try this since I have 54 pillow covers I am making.
Thanks for this fantastic tutorial! Am I right when I say that the finished pillow cover that you made is 17x17? One inch smaller than the pillow form?
Dawn, yes, you are correct. I like to make my pillow covers 1" smaller than the form size. That way the pillow cover isn't too loose, it's nice and snug. Thanks for watching!
wow - that's a great time and effort saving step - all one piece - I usually do the three pieces but wanted to see if I could learn something new and indeed I did!!! Thank you!
I am watching this video for the first time and this was the first simple pillow cover that i have seen. Thank you. I will be using this sample to make pillow.
Hi Jann! I'm learning how to use a sewing machine for the first time after being a hand sewist for many years! It takes me a long time to learn new things, but I watched your video once through and was able to make the cushion cover this evening, I can't believe it!! I know my sewing tutor will be so proud of me I only started learning 2 weeks ago (on Fridays, so about 10 hours max on the sewing machine so far). I'm going to make 2 covers to send to my nephews in Australia. I made bunting for them at Christmas in the same fabric but it took forever because I did it by hand 😂 Now they'll have matching cushions as decor for their beds. I appreciate the pace you go at in this video it's really helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much. I will definitely follow your video to make three pillows for my grandchildren. It will be so great that they will be able to take the cover off and wash the fabric. I used to know how to put in zippers but it’s been a very long time and this will be much easier.
Thank you so much!. I just came across this video and made mine In less than 15mins!. Thanks for making it seem simple. I wish I could show you a picture of what I made
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I wanted to make new covers for my throw pillows but did not know how to achieve the envelope look. Now I can do it myself. So happy your video came up when I searched on RUclips.
This tutorial is great! within 30 mins of finding this tutorial I had my first pillow done! I haven't picked up a sewing machine in years but I needed to hem some curtains and I used the extra fabric to make pillows and help tie our living room together! I can't imagine ever needing another pillow cover tutorial. Looking forward to checking out your other videos to see if there is anything else we can try for our new house! :) Thank you for making this video!!!
I've just discovered your channel. I loathe sewing zippers, and discovered the envelope type of pillow cover when i was gifted several covers with this style. Lightbulb moment. I've made six pillow covers with the envelope back and plan to make even more. It's not that i need piles of pillow covers, i just have lots and lots and lots, did I say lots, of fabric and find quick projects a way to sew down to a manageable amount of material.
Oh my word this is amazing and so simple. My daughter just spilled some bbq sauce on a light pillow. The stain will not come out! Now I have the easiest solution. Thank you for sharing this video

I'm new to sewing and I happened to have the same size pillow that I wanted to cover. This video was very easy to follow and I made my 1st pillow case. Thanks
This is exactly what I was looking for. I am making a cover for my cushioned kitchen mat and didn't want to have to cut everything just to sew it back together. Thank you so much for sharing!
This is the best and easy tutorial for pillow covers. Made two covers in about 1 1/2 hour. Now I need to transfer this knowledge to covering a loveseat cushion. Thanks so much!
Omg ty so much for this .saves me from buying so many pillows .I can just keep the pillows I already have and make covers .ty again.they were beautiful
