My first Alaskan cruise is in July 2024. This video was wonderful and I’ve already sent it to my friend who I’m cruising with! thanks for all you share.
Thank you so much! That made my day! Hope you guys love Alaska as much as we do!
If there was one more video I would recommend you watch before Alaska it would be this one… it has a lot of great info in it! m.ruclips.net/video/KKTke0ULxtE/видео.html
In Ketchikan, you can ride the city bus ($2 per person each way) to either Totem Bight State Park or Saxman Native Village ($5 per person). In Sitka, the Alaska Raptor Rehabilitation Center has native birds of prey on display, educational talks for $15 per person.
Great options! Thanks for sharing!
In Juneau I went to Costco . Guy named Ryan runs shuttle for 12.00 RT from area where shuttles dump you in town.
We are going on our first Alaskan cruise June 2024, I have to say this is by far one of the best videos I have see on Excursiones. We don’t have kids, and some focus just on what to do with them. You guys hit all the points with and without kids. I have to see I was freaking out when I saw the excursion prices from the cruise ship 😮. But wow you guys put me at ease. I can do a lot without having to spend so much more than we already have with the cruise. Great info. Thx!
Thanks so much! Hope you have an amazing time! And you can honestly have a great experience without breaking the bank in each port.
Totally agreed with the ghost and Goodtime girls tour. Underrated in my opinion.
It was well worth the price!
im so glad someone went out there
If you have 4 people in Skagway. We rented The Green Jeep. It was fabulous. You drive up the road close to what the railroad does, can see the train most of the time. It plays a CD, telling you where you are, and the history. We drove up into Canada, stopped and saw sled dogs, actually saw a momma bear and cubs on side of road. It's gotten expensive, but was great. Able to stop when you wanted, then went shopping and dropped off jeep downtown.
That sounds like a great idea. We are headed back this year and may have to check it out!
We rented a car but the cd idea sounds great. Wonder if I can get something like it or a phone download to play in our car?? Leaving in 3 weeks. Repeating our Skagway rental. Where were the sled dogs? Was there a fee?
@@lisabarron2258 I can't remember exactly where, but remember it was on right side of road. It had to be easy to find, as we did not plan ahead of time, just saw it on the drive
Wonderful video. Planning a cruise in the next year and this was SO helpful! Thank you!
Thank so much! We have content twice a week so stay on the lookout for more topics.
What fun ideas! Excited to try some of these since only done the ship excursions.
Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy!
Great informative video on excursions. We are trying to decide if we book through our cruise line RC or on our own. Jotted it all down and you both gave some great ideas especially renting a car in Juneau. Our family likes to hike and Mendenhall sounds great! First cruise to Alaska in July so much appreciated all the tips.
Thanks so much! Enjoy your trip!
I am just starting to plan our first trip to Alaska! I found your channel through a search, Great videos. Very helpful and you are so easy to watch and listen to! Thank you!
Thanks so much. Glad you found our channel. We hope you have an amazing time. We love going to Alaska!
I havent been yet and I already know I want to go back! lol.

Thank you for watching! Hope you got some good ideas!

You gotta rent a car in Skagway!!!! Drive the south Klondike highway up through Canada! Dont miss the gold rush cemetery and waterfall! Still left us plenty of time walk through town.
We will have to check out that option this year!
We are also going in July. This is my first Alaskan cruise.
We hope you have an amazing time! It is such a unique experience.
Thanks!
Welcome!
Once cool excursion in Seattle was a bus tour from the ship with a few stops throughout the city and then it ended at the airport. Great wat to kill some time if you have a later flight and a ride to the airport!
That is a great way to get to the airport!
Was this through the cruise line or through the City of Seattle?
@@sherylscali1309 sounds like that is with the cruise line. But if you want to do it on your own… with the port of Seattle you can have your bags delivered to the airport and explore on your own. (Fill out the paperwork on the ship before the last day & coast same as if you brought the suitcase with you)
Can’t miss the crabby Bloody Mary at The Crab Station in Hoonah
We will have to add that to the list for this year!
Just discovered you 🙂We are looking for a cruise in July to Alaska first time. Another great trip we plan is Norway. I saw you did both. Any pros and cons to do one at first? We live in California.
We would suggest doing Norway as soon as possible as some of the key landmarks won’t be accessible. They passed a law requiring electric ships to visit those ports.
But for ease of travel Alaska will be your easiest from California and actually offer options from California to Alaska.
Push comes to shove Alaska will be there for you in the long term so Norway is the best option in our opinion.
Love the review! How did you rent the car in Juneau? What did you use? Turo?
We used Turo. Super easy and had a great experience.
@@lindsayslivealittle where/how do you pick up/drop off your rental? Did you rent prior to going or when you got into port?
There is a parking lot near the docks where we met the person we were renting from. He met us there and then we dropped him off at his house in town and on the way back we picked him up and he dropped us off at the ship dock. We booked prior to the cruise.
How do you use turo to book for the same day returning the car?
Rental car is a good idea
Thanks! It was nice to have the freedom to go and explore on our own!

In Juneau, I've found out that if you hike up to the top and spend $10 at the gift shop, you can take the cable car down for free, so if you're fit and frugal, this might be a good idea for you.
That is a great option. Thanks for sharing.
This is great info. Going on my 1st Alaska Cruise with the family in 3 weeks. Wanted to know what Rental company did you use in Sitka and Skagway? Thanks!
Thanks so much. Hope you enjoy your trip! We have been renting from Turo and have had great experience.
@@lindsayslivealittle Cool! I have never used them but will check them out. Thanks a lot for the help!
Love the idea of renting a car in Juneau. Which car company did you use? Did they drop it off nearby the port? Appreciate any help possible, as we too, are going with my parents, who have very limited walking adventure :)
We used Turo and it worked great. Got picked up and dropped off at the port.
Cruising May 10th-20th. Who did you rent the cars from? Looking into this as we speak but can’t find any information on it. Thank you!
We used Turo. Enjoy!
would love suggestions for things to do if you have mobility issues. My friend will be bringing her rollator, so no hiking.
Which ports will you be visiting? Makes it easier to give you some suggestions.
Great tips! How did u book rental car?
Thanks much. We used Turo to book the rental cars. Easy to us and we have a great time!
Ah yes! Will look into it! Thanks again! 😊
I am going to Alaska in September with a handicapped friend. He can walk but do to a stroke not particularly well. What excursions would you recommend?
Which ports are you visiting? We can provide a few recommendations and the community can provide some thoughts as well.
I'm going to Alaska cruse in July are the is tours you can go from the port without booking? Just hop on and go? Any advice?
There will be non-cruise sponsored tours/excursions right after you get off the ship. However, if you are looking to do a helicopter or plane tour would highly suggest booking that in advance as they sell out before the cruise and there are multiple ships in port at a time.
Hey! I have heard that you can hike up the hill on Juneau and have lunch up there and then take the tram for free back down to Port. TRUE?
You can definitely hike up it. It would be a tough vertical hike but there is a restaurant at the top.
As for the free ride down, we can’t speak to that specifically.
What place did you use the hop on hop off in Victoria?
www.getyourguide.com/victoria-british-columbia-l551/victoria-half-day-hop-on-hop-off-sightseeing-bus-tour-t333361/?ranking_uuid=f1ef521e-0977-461f-928c-b145a02d5e56
Do they only take cash for the shuttle into Hoonah?
They take both credit and cash.
Is it really safe to hike in alaska when are bears active
Most bear attacks happen to solo hikers. We were singing “Frozen” most of the time. Best to make noise so bears hear you coming and move on. You can always put a bell on your back pack as well. Always be aware of your surroundings.
And just fyi if you see a moose keep your distance as well. They actually kill more people than bear.
Thanks for watching!
Emma & Jack
Where did you guys rent vehicles?
We rented via Turo. Worked great!
Where in the airport are the luggages stored (on departure day) please? Thanks!
Not sure what you mean exactly. The luggage goes under the plane. If you are referring to the Seattle port taking luggage the night before… then they take it to the airport and it gets checked. You didn’t see it again until you land in your final destination. Thanks for watching.
@@lindsayslivealittle how do they know about your final destination? Intriguing…
Informative video content. Where did you rent the car? Can I get a mini van or large suv for 7 people? Pls provide me the list of places with rental car to cover in Juneau.
We rented our car through Turo. Additionally, the major car rental companies (Enterprise, Hertz, Avis) are all available in Juneau.
Using Turo you rent directly from the owner of the car and they have tons of options.
@@lindsayslivealittle Turo has min rental restrictions. My cruise ship stops only for 8 hrs
@@kiranmarrapuyou can book to the minimum and message the rental person and they will work with you. They typically work with cruise visitors.
@@lindsayslivealittle Awesome. Thanks for the info. Do they bring the car to the port? Or do we have to pickup from somewhere? Does the rent include the gas price? Or do we have to fill it up while returning?
@@kiranmarrapugas is not included and for pick up that is all dependent on the person you rent from. We were picked up at the port and dropped off at the end.
Is the tram accessible to a scooter?
Cannot speak exactly to a scooter but the Tramway is ADA compliant. However, the accessibility at the top will be limited.
Where else did you drive to in Juneau?
We drove to a couple breweries and hikes beyond heading to the glacier.
Do you have to hike?
You don’t have to hike at all if you don’t want to.
Emma & Jack
A Juneau local here, your price noted to rent a Jeep right at the dock is not correct. It far exceeds $100.
We rented via Turo and had it dropped off at the dock. It is exactly what we paid.
Ok, did you mention Turo? Jeeps are rented at a hut by Taku Fisheries and they are a lot more.
@@davidthomson5183yep we mentioned that is where we have rented while in Alaska ports. Much cheaper than the tour companies offer for Jeeps. Completely agree if you rent from the excursion companies you will pay well over $100. But Turo is a great option.
