I was just going to suggest a baby gear packing vid. This was great, thank you! We like bringing a sound machine too for naps and night time so the little one stays down and we don’t have to be silent.
The sound machine is a great add. We will try to put out some more specific things around toddler traveling. Additionally working on standing up a website to be able to provide even more specifics. More to come. Emma & Jack
I'm so glad I found your channel! My family and I (which includes my fiance and two littles age 4 and 9 months) are cruising to Alaska in May. We are so excited, but I've been researching nonstop for what to bring for all of us, so this was very helpful!
Thanks for all of your Alaska videos - very helpful. Important: Binoculars - don't forget to bring them with for an Alaska cruise watching wildlife and scenery more clearly. Especially for whale watching binoculars are essential. I've experience - here in French-Polynesia we have whale watching season (July to October) at our beach or on boat (see following notes about my home). I will be on a 9 day Alaska cruise in October only with carry-on !!! (it works, have done already "test-packing") because I have short time frame between international and domestic connecting flight at arrival in US. And on ship I have free laundry (loyalty status 🤩). Why going in October for me - okay, it's colder, but in average only 4 days of rain and there are much better chances to see northern lights. So, I'm soo excited. It might seem funny for people, but I do miss the cold seasons (I'm European and moved over to South Pacific). Greetings from Moorea (sister island of Tahiti) in French-Polynesia 🌴 🏖 😎 🇵🇫 🇫🇷 🇪🇺
We've been to Alaska 3 times and I think you pretty much nailed it as far as the packing. Moving on up in the world with a sponsor.... you've 100% earned it though, I always enjoy your content :) Also going to check out level 8, as it turns out the airlines busted one of the roller wheels on my wife's suitcase on our last trip.
Thanks so much BlueMooMoo! We appreciate your support. We feel blessed to have had you as a member for going on a year now. Hope you all are doing great up in Canada and ready for the Spring to hit! Emma & Jack
Thanks so much. Here is the link to Jacks rain coat: amzn.to/4dkFpR0 Emma’s specific jacket isn’t available anymore but it is vineyard vines Packable Jacket. They have newer options. Poppy’s coat is from Target.
It is usually around 70. I (Emma) tend to take a sweater or sweatshirt with me around the ship because people are always going outside to see views so sometimes cool breeze. (And you might want to hop outside to see a whale or nice view for a minute) Live a Little Emma
we are considering an alaskan cruise and enjoy your videos to help us choose/plan. however, we are a carryon suitcase (with a backpack) only family. do you have recommendations for that, or do you always check bags?
We typically always check bags since it doesn’t cost us anything extra and we have had to check car seats and strollers anyways. But Jack travels for work and just uses a carry on. His favorite is the aluminum sided cases.
We would suggest no earlier than May. From weather to having all the shops of activities open, mid May is the earliest we would suggest going. But love the Encore and the itinerary!
If you plan on renting a car or using taxis a lot during travel than we would suggest purchasing travel car seats. Some countries do not require car seats but everywhere in the US will require them to be in seats. Otherwise you can add a car seat to many rental companies but it has an additional cost that adds up.
We took your advice. We booked Alaska on the Encore May 2025.
Woohoo! We hope you have an amazing time!

Thank you for the great ideas😊
Thank you!
Great video, thanks heading on our cruise in early August. Did mosquitoes and gnats bother you while on the ship, in towns or just excursions/hikes?
Thanks much. Mainly while on excursions/hikes.
Question for anyone.. How warm is it just walking around the ship? Do I need another layer if it’s cold?
It is usually around 70. I (Emma) tend to take a sweater or sweatshirt with me around the ship because people are always going outside to see views so sometimes cool breeze. (And you might want to hop outside to see a whale or nice view for a minute)

Did you guys check the travel backpack on the plane? Did you put it in a bag?
Yes we check it. It can with a travel bag that we use.
Do you use the car seat throughout the cruise? Do you use it at the ports?
Yes we carry our car seat whenever we travel. It is super easy for rental cars to taxis in ports.
we are considering an alaskan cruise and enjoy your videos to help us choose/plan. however, we are a carryon suitcase (with a backpack) only family. do you have recommendations for that, or do you always check bags?
We typically always check bags since it doesn’t cost us anything extra and we have had to check car seats and strollers anyways.

We have a 3 year old and a 2 year old is it a MUST to have a travel car seat?
If you plan on renting a car or using taxis a lot during travel than we would suggest purchasing travel car seats. Some countries do not require car seats but everywhere in the US will require them to be in seats.
