The Cherry Red Epiphone Riviera was used for the Don't Look Back In Anger video. The Union Jack Epiphone Sheraton TSB was the Maine Road gig. The Epiphone Sheraton Union Jack was the Maine Road gig. The Epiphone Les Paul Cherry Sunburst was used when Oasis came out in 1994 with the Definitely Maybe album and used a lot in that album, you can also hear his Les Paul in the Supersonic recording. Noel used the black Gibson Les Paul, Les Paul Florentine, Epiphone EJ-200, Fender Pink Paisley Telecaster, later used Martin D28. He used Vox, Marshall and Bonehead used Orange Amps. Harold Hughes Well, whether they realised it or not, Matt was actually much closer to Bonehead than Gem with the Epiphone Dot, and they mostly played riffs from Definitely Maybe, nothing from Gem
Gem Archer used Noel's red Gibson Es-355. Paul Arthurs used an Epiphone Riviera, and Noel played an Epiphone Sheraton 2 until he bought more expensive Gibsons and Fenders. The Union Jack guitar was an Epiphone Riviera his girlfriend at the time had made for him.
Noel mostly played a wine red MIJ 83 Rivera in the early days (after Les Paul’s). Thr Union Jack guitar was a Sheraton from Maine road with added extra inlays. Some say it was a 60s model but I believe it was one of the short run of USA Nashville made epiphones in 1995 (as was the sunburst one from knebworth).
Great job! Really got that Oasis sound! Can you guys do a Radiohead Sounds Like? Johnny Greenwood and Ed Obrien would br a pretty awesome 30 min edition of Sounds Like. Cheers and keep up the good work from across the pond.
Cool stuff. Noel Gallagher's the reason I play guitar. He's not the greatest guitarist, but he's good and wrote great songs (still does). And the Dot is great as well, I've one of those too. Really affordable and versatile. You can't go wrong with them. I fancy getting a Vox, but thinking of either a full valve AC15 or a hybrid AC30VR.

Awesome vid guys, I'm a HUGE oasis fan and I'd say you got fairly close considering the budget. Also considering that oasis used epiphones early on, and the fact that epiphones are not too expensive means that someone on a budget could still get an authentic oasis feel from the guitar
for Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead, get a Fender Squier Telecaster Deluxe because Jonny uses a killswitch on his tele and the tele deluxe has a killswitch, also get some kind of phaser and maybe a digitech whammy

*Oasis fan pedantry* Gem is pronounced with a soft G. And he mosly played a Gibson non-reverse firebird (but obviously that wouldn't be in budget so fair enough)
Yea, despite they said they were trying to sound like Gem, they seem to have (whether intentionally or not) picked a spot-on Bonehead rig, so it's worked out ok :)
Sam Brenton great way to promote the higher end lol ok the tubescreamer was on Noel's board but you can get much cheaper and still get the same sound I used the behringer od and that worked fine. I got VOX vt20 amp and the overdrive replicates the tubescreamer and it's only £150
The emphasis would be on Lemmy's tone, but I'd say going for both Fast Eddie and Phil for the guitars so you could go back and forth between classic and modern Motörhead.
People wondering why you'd want to sound like Oasis, here's another perspective. I'm learning guitar, trying to, but I lose motivation fast. I have a Squire Telecaster piped into a Line 6 Spider 3 amp and I just don't like the sound of it. I want to learn by playing Oasis songs, and the only way I'd stay motivated is if the fruits of my practice sound like what I'm learning from, I'd feel like I'm making progress if what I'm doing sounds like the original. Obviously a Telecaster isn't suited, so I'm in the market for something that will be. Funny how this video didn't age well, those Sheratons are now £650-800.
Buy yourself a used semi hollow- Epiphone- Harley Benton-Aria- Tanglewood-Yamaha- doesn't matter as long as you have humbuckers. Get it set up properly. Buy some used Epiphone pickups (they're not expensive) if you don't lke the ones it came with. Get your Line 6 set for crunch. Telecasters are great guitars and if you do continue playing you may want one down the line as you develop, but you need some humbuckers really yo get that Oasis tone.
Ritchie Blackmore would be hard to do because he is utterly insane and his gear reflects that. For most of his Deep Purple career I believe he used a Strat with the middle pickup disabled, a modified tape deck as a pre-amplifier (which was so unreliable it needed its own specialist to keep it working) and a cranked Marshall amp which was modified to sound like an AC30. Otherwise I don't think he used many other effects than delay, a treble booster and a reverb. The wiki says he sometimes used a wah pedal but the only song I can think of that sounds like he did is Mistreated. Also remember the Smoke on the Water riff was originally played in finger-style which has confused rockers for many years. This is a guy who went out of his way to stick a strap-lock on his guitars headstock just to confuse people and has stated 'if I come across something I don't like I won't work through the issue, I'd rather just go sulk in the corner'. A total nutcase.
for someone that has oasis as their favourite band, as soon as he pronounces Gem as Jem and claims that he thinks that the union jack guitar was used at knebworth, after 1:53, i switch off
I, too, would love to see them do Dream Theater. Easy to do guitar with a Sterling JP model or maybe an Ibanez RG. Would be more interesting to see where they would go with amplification and effects.
The issue with the guitar is that even the Stirling version is a high price for the budget (being £799). John Petrucci uses very expensive Mesa Boogie amps and a variety of effects. I think they would have to look for a basswood super-strat with HH pickups and locking tremolo such as the Jackson JS32 Dinky DKA-M at £259 to match up with a lower cost amp around the £500 mark and finish with pedals including the Mesa Boogie pre-amp pedal. It is the only way I figure they could get close to the sound without blowing the budget and this cuts out the more modern DT tracks that are played with a 7 string guitar.
YESSSSSSSSSSS can’t believe it took so long! lol I know there aren’t any super complex solos and the lyrics are either amazing or terrible depending on the song or who you ask, but still... Oasis ROCKS!
Benji (the bass player) used A Epiphone Thunderbird and Ashdown amps on the Balcony and switched to a Jazz Bass with a Fender Bassman valve amp (using the built in overdrive) for the RIde and all the recent tours.
Nice video lads, thanks. Love the demo of the TubeScreamer, been thinking of getting one for a while (already have the Epiphone Sheraton and Marshall amp). Think I'm sold. One thing - why VOX amps? I've seen Oasis / Noel 11 times and it always seems to be Marshall rigs, perhaps sometimes I can remember a few Orange stacks. Can't remember seeing Vox.

Appreciate the information James!
Like re-form Rainbow as of last year with the only original member as himself and have his wife on backing vocals?
Nice work. Especially like the explanation on the sound differences of the Sheraton.
It's a amazing sounding rig. This video gave me some light bulbs! Loved it
The Sheraton guy didn´t make an effort to take the licks right lol
stone roses please
I would have loved to hear "Some might say".
had to pause and drool over that David Gilmore strat in the background at 0:38, beautious!
Joel Crow I know, right? I'd sell a kidney for it if a serious buyer came along
You really sound like them, great job!

Jonny greenwood
Jeff buckley
Johnny marr
Adam hunn
J. Mascis
Stevie ray vaughan
Thurston moore/lee ranaldo

John Squire and Graham Coxon.
J. Mascis did a Rig Rundown.
+samhailes but his rig costs more than 1500£ and you can't get these instruments new at Anderton's, so I really want it, too. :D
literally everyone I want to see
Haha, two guys who have never listened to oasis Google their gear, then play from tabs...
and sound pretty authentic
Rabea politely hates them
No way they’ve never heard Oasis they’re in the UK
There’s literally no way they haven’t listened to oasis. They are in the uk
@@fredsystra7584 you copied my comment
@@austintexas9440 didn’t see it sorry m8
Sound like Green Day (convenient timing with their comeback)
literally just a marshall dsl blues driver and a strat for old stuff or a les Paul junior/ telecaster with humbuckers for new stuff
I know, got basically that set up already. People know the set ups they just wanna see how Bea and Matt would do it.
Green Day already sounds like Green Day without busting the bank.
The Sheraton sounds great with the Vox.
Calling Bonehead "Paul Arthurs" gave me a laugh. Also, Gem's got a hard "G", mate! Sincerely, I slways enjoy Andertons videos, Thanks for the upload!
Sound Like Megadeth Pleeeeeeeeease!!!!
yesss
that'd be awesome
yess!!!!!!!!
yeeeeees
YEEEES
You should of used an Epiphone les Paul and a orange or marshall guys!! And bonehead with a dot!!
for someone that has oasis as their favourite band, as soon as he pronounces Gem as Jem and claims that he thinks that the union jack guitar was used at knebworth, after 1:53, i switch off
dukey2007 That was probably sarcasm
It was sarcasm
You sound like a right prick
Sounds like SRV! Loved the video btw
HUGE Oasis fan. Amazing watch! Very informative. Fuck yea
Do a sounds like Black Sabbath!!
Would love to see a sounds like of JoyDivison or maybe the Smiths or the Cure!!!
How about a sound like Dream theater or Alter Bridge?
they already did one for mark tremonti
I, too, would love to see them do Dream Theater. Easy to do guitar with a Sterling JP model or maybe an Ibanez RG. Would be more interesting to see where they would go with amplification and effects.
+Cullen James Exactly
Dream Theater would only work totally destroying the bank.
YESSSSSSSSSSS can’t believe it took so long! lol I know there aren’t any super complex solos and the lyrics are either amazing or terrible depending on the song or who you ask, but still... Oasis ROCKS!
watched the U2 vid, then this. subscribed. really enjoying your approach.
The Verve
Sound Like Tame Impala!
Sound like catfish and the bottlemen (including the bass)
vox ac30 and semi hollow/telecaster/les paul
+Alec_Sander_ neither use vox both Marshall and fender
+Dom Kelly (Domm) He used a Vox AC30 equipboard.com/pros/van-mccann
+Dom Kelly (Domm) and regardless it isn't a too hard tone to recreate at all
Benji (the bass player) used A Epiphone Thunderbird and Ashdown amps on the Balcony and switched to a Jazz Bass with a Fender Bassman valve amp (using the built in overdrive) for the RIde and all the recent tours.
When they both kicked into Supersonic, that was bada$$
Nice video lads, thanks. Love the demo of the TubeScreamer, been thinking of getting one for a while (already have the Epiphone Sheraton and Marshall amp). Think I'm sold.
One thing - why VOX amps? I've seen Oasis / Noel 11 times and it always seems to be Marshall rigs, perhaps sometimes I can remember a few Orange stacks. Can't remember seeing Vox.
