I feel like you guys nailed this one. Mostly because it's so dead simple, but still. That bit of Gimme Shelter made me feel things.
I think it was okay. They should try again by busting.
3:18 A wild Jim Root Tele appeared in the background...
I saw that too.
nice job noticing that
-_-
Is that your very own beard?
+Nathan Rae That's Jim Root
Sound like Rory Gallagher, he never gets a mention anywhere these days.
Best Irish guitarist ever
Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore were the best Guitarist to ever come out of Ireland. In my opinion.
fender stratocaster, Vox AC15 or 30 and a Treble Booster
@@KeeperOfPoops and out of this world talent and skill!
@@KeeperOfPoops 😎😎😎
The SFT overdrive pedal is probably the cheapest way to get the 1969 though 1970's Stones tone (which happens to be my favorite Stones period).
Sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan please
Yes please!
easy peasy
classic 50's squier strat
tubescreamer (you could go even cheaper with the many clones)
any fender blackface
annabelleshaus I just want to see rabea play srv tunes
annabelleshaus or just a lovepedal super six
Would be good to have a 1x15" amp.. I know peavey do a blues type one with a 15" speaker
Do a sound like Frusicante with busting the bank.
They did
They did, they even mentioned it in the vid
+Jack Malcic I meant BY busting the bank so no limit in money.
Oh I see, my bad dude
Yessssss!!!!!!! Or hendrix with busting the bank
Hey guys,
Appreciate all the feedback and comments as always!
With regard to the Ronny wood comments, we basically recreated the sounds from the record, and used Ronny's gear and rig as reference to get somewhere close in sound.
We also used a LOT of live footage for reference, simply because the recording quality was better.
Most old stones records are so muffled in sound and generally noisy records, it's hard to hear the true tone of the instruments and rigs.
Either way, we had fun on this one. Same time next week, for a new episode :-)
Noisey and muffled? Those records sound amazing..
My gosh gear is expensive in the UK
They forgot the heroin Fedex'd in from Thailand
Ahhhh major step they forgot i disliked the vid because of that
Cocaine from Merck
Or the hashish in the hallways!
Sound like Ritchie Blackmore!!!!
Oh, and Cliff Burton too.
+James Florin he's a bass player dude if you know anything about anyone its cliff burton=bass player
Yes! Please!
Yesss
Ive been posting this comment on all of their videos xD
Sound like Hendrix please.
yea
Definitely
I think rob did that at one point.
But it's combined with other people, low quality and kind of old
+DamageIncM no one said that, roflmaoltrololol
What if at least SOME people actually discussed how they did, how the gear was, and what they could've done better and instead of thousands of comments just requesting new artists?
bang on
I'll second that.
Well go on then
you're right! everyone wants to request but no one acknowledges what they did on videos.
I have to respectfully disagree with you. Logically, it would be courteous for people to critique and suggest methods to improve their videos, but figuratively, if the audience keeps asking for more artists...then they like the previous videos, in terms of quality, right? Think about it.
Stones by busting the bank.
then tey can get a satisfaction fuzz cos the Fulltone 69 was WAY OFF
William Allison they were pretty bummed too, they were sold out at the time. RIP
Ampeg VT-22, Telecaster Custom, MXR Carbon Copy or other analog delay, MXR Phase 100
The new Joe Bonamassa signature Twin and a Custom Shop Tele. Maybe a clean boost and reverb
@Ajoep they can't get the Joe Bonamassa twin because the rule is No sig for someone else's rig
Thanks for covering my Favourite band guys. Great job! Would love to watch The Stones with busting the Bank too. Mick Taylor style?
DO TAME IMPALA PLEASE!!!
Yaaaaaaaaassss
Yes!
Please do!!!
It'd be hard; Kevin's sound (post innerspeaker) is really all about Rickenbackers.
i know but they could do the video "by" busting the bank!
Way Huge Havalina Fuzz nails that Satisfaction tone with the tone at 1-2 o'clock and the fuzz knob pointed straight at the blue LED, the 69 MKii is great too! Great demo, thanks!
Bass part:
·Bill Wyman
-Epiphone Allen Woody. Wyman used a short scale semi acoustic, with a big body and humbuckers, like his famous Framus, in the early years. I think this is the best choice because is easy to find it and you can balance the pickups
-Vox VX50 BA. This amp is the most affordable Vox bass amp to emulate the classic tone of the Stones. Because of the semi acoustic bass, you should set the amp with more treble than mids
-Pick
·Darryl Jones (the actual unofficial bassist)
-Squier VM Jazz Bass 70s. Darryls plays with Lackland jazz basses with maple neck. He's got a signature model but it would be for a BY busting the bank.
-Ampeg BA 110 V2. He uses Ampeg with the Rolling Stones
-Fingers
·Charlie Watts
-He's been playing on Gretsch drums for many years, using a jazz kit. Of course Gretsch Catalina studio (20x14 bass drum, 14x14 floor tom, 12x8 rack tom, 14x5 snare) on mahogany. Meinl cymabls give a warm and pretty sound
Percebe ,I think charlie doesn’t use meinl, he uses vintage zildjian hi hat and ufip china
Lets see how long it takes for them to say "i reckon"
4:35 eh
since you did the Stones, you could do The Beatles now
like, they have great stuff too, distortions and curious tones
Ikr
Yeah!!
Yes Beatles!
Such wide ranges in tones, even just between lennon and Harrison on the same album but I still think it would be interesting and do able!
Bea played my old #1 guitar!!!....I played the Squier Vintage Modified for two years...and then I got the Chapman ML3 T in the blue.
I thought Rabea's tone, particularly, was spot on. Amazing result!
Sound like Eddie van halen or randy Rhodes
Oi Oi 😉
A little, bassist-hating birdie told me rhandy rhoads is coming up some time in the future
+jbal695 *randy
Greetings fellow GnFR fan :)
+jbal695 mhhh I have absolute no clue where you got this secret information from
Don't ever stop making these vids so useful.I would like to make a request for Tom Scholz from the band Boston if possible.
that's a really tricky one, would love to see it
use his rockman stuff with a les paul
Definitely tricky as he built his own amps and I would imagine modded his own to personal taste and very defferent to the ones he made for production as well as his guitar, would be interesting to see them try though.
Hey guys, just FYI Keef was famous for playing a black telecaster custom just like Bea's in the 70s and 80s, so it is historically correct.
Not to mention only had 5 strings in an open G tuning
@@Jonthebard errr...I think you just mentioned it. Lol
So glad you guys brought back the shopping in these vids!
SOUND LIKE ALEXI LAIHO
he uses passives with a boost so i'ld like to see you guys adapt to it on a budget
oh yeah!
seconded
he has a relatively affordable sig guitar and he uses 3 BOSS pedals with a marshall, so not too difficult really, just use a DSL 40 in place of his JVM
thirded
I've been requesting this for months.
Sound like videos I'd like to see:
Jimi Hendrix
The Beatles
Eric Clapton
Alice in Chains
Green Day
Aerosmith
Third Eye Blind
U2
Black Sabbath
Good choices!!
Is that in order
+Fabien Dolan no, not exactly
+Wallace Moss thanks!!
Old Green Day is strat and marshall, new Green Day (post American Idiot) is pretty much les paul jrs. Jason White uses an es 335 I think.
You guys rock. Awesome viewing and great entertainment. Keep them coming! Peace from London x
Great and informative video as always, but kind of funny he talked for a few minutes about getting Ronnie's tone but played only one riff from his RS episode, and in completely different way to boot.
You guys should do Fleetwood Mac. Mix in the original 1960's stuff and the later '70s stuff. :)
Jimi hendrix
...sucks
+Mai the psychic girl ooh aren't you so edgy
+Mai the psychic girl ... at nothing.
Jonno the First already done
samB it hadn't been done when I commented
Excellent video. Thanks for the discussion about loud driven clean amps vs pre driven. A lot of bedroom players haven’t experienced the driven tone. I’d like to hear sound like The Black Crows without busting the bank , gov’t mule or the north mississippi all stars
Great Keith Richards quote, "5 strings, 2 fingers, 1 arsehole" :-)
Going on a road trip today. This vid makes me want to listen to some Stones.
Creedence Clearwater Revival? Or Megadeth off course...
Yasss, Fogerty is the man!
+Ian Anderson yeah man!
CCR would be awesome, I saw Fogerty live a couple years ago and he's an awesome guitarist
Richards used a Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-1 pedal on Satisfaction, if I recall correctly. There have been re-issues by Gibson and clones, etc. You can get an original on ebay for about 400-500 bucks US last time I checked.
I think you guys nailed a lot of those tones. Great job!
Sound like the who, the smiths, the cure and Mick Ronson
U absolutely nailed Brown Sugar
+Joshua Knight also if u do Mick Ronson, one of you should play an acoustic 12 string to emulate Bowie playing
Sound like Kiss without busting the bank
Yessssssssssssssssssssss
For ace- lp 3 pickup and Marshall.
For Paul- iceman and Marshall.
+GunsnRosesfan2012 There is an Ace Model By Epiphone
Sound Like Jimi Hendrix with busting the bank
I love it so much when they pick up a classic vibe!....
Sound Like
Brian Setzer
St.Vincent
Mötley Crüe (Dr.Feelgood Album)
Failure (Guitar and Bass Combo)
Chon
My Chemical Romance
I love your vids...did you try the fender mustang III? you'd get good sound and have money in your pocket!
+1 for the whole Classic Vibe series... have the 60's strat and its super... next up.. the cv 50's bb tele
this is it! the video that i was waiting for. thanks Rabea and Matt :D
i haven't been this early since i was born
same
Avenged sevenfold please
Schecter's are pretty expensive so that would be a challenge
+Alex Wales they could use ibanez
I've been asking on a ton of videos!
They actually have a pretty simple set up, this would be good
Syn was using Marshall Amps and Boss Pedals, his set up was really simple
woood. i really learnt something. -> good job guys. the mkII sounds great.
Stunningly close to the Stones. Great video !
i think a really cool one would be SOUNDS LIKE PERIPHERY. they have a distinct tone with a tone of mid presence and really use the OD pedals to the max! id like to see what you guys can do without busting the bank!
That would be awesome but axe fx wouldn't be in their budget
Do Oli Herbert from All That Remains! 'Two Weeks' 'Six' 'This Calling'
Really Like the "Series". Nice, accurate playing as per the particular artist. Like your detailed explanations of guitars, amps, effects, what works and why. Thanks for sharing your experiences with other players. Would love to see a video on getting that great '59 Les Paul PAF tone as inexpensively as possible, ala Mike Bloomfield. Thanks.
One thing I noticed that was not mentioned was the use of small tube amps..namely keith's tweed champ cranked in the studio for a huge tone was his signature sound
You should do a Matt Vs Bea episode, see who gets closest!
How about the Eagles? Or Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers? Just a thought, thanks for the videos I'm a big fan of this series
Showing some Catalinbread love! Great pedals.
Excellent work, guys. I’m a veteran guitarist and lifelong Stones obsessive. You definitely point the uninitiated in the proper direction.
We all knew who would be Keith when they said "let's decide in the end"
Please do The Rolling Stones by busting the bank!
Glen did a video visting Andertons an said he did something with Matt an Rabea video of Sound Like Randy Rhoads without busting the bank. That is the one I was looking forward to this week.
you guys are the best...like literally
G&L make nicer guitars like the squire tele you picked, but I'm not sure if Andertons carry G&L
Exactly what I thought. The G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy would have been a perfect and affordable fit. But judging from their webshop, they don't sell G&L.
+Alexander Langer yeah I don't care too much for the G&L stuff but I'd rather have that then a squire
The Bluesboys (and all G&L Tributes) kick butt. Excellent finish and fantastic fretwork (at least the ones I've played or checked out). I own a US G&L and if I had tried a Tribute first I would have picked up a Bluesboy in Orange for less than half. (And very good prices on the secondary market as well.)
Yeah, I really hate that I have to sell my G&L Tribute Series ASAT Special: those pickups are the ultimate single coils.
Yes please do the beatles!
Nice job... Sounded spot on.
Great video! Keith actually did play a 1975 Tele custom in black so that guitar is perfect.
Sound like Rival Sons, or maybe Biffy Clyro? Please!
Please cage the elephant, queen or sabbath
cage the elephant
Queen would be awesome but it's pretty obvious that he uses a Vox AC10/15 with a red classic or however this guitar is called.
+Aviation Channel - Kurzdokus und News
Red special
Both
Im not a fan of all the bands you try to sound like but i never miss 1 episode I love it!!
I love the Rolling Stones Awesome Band 👌. I love The Tone of Gimme Shelter . I love The Last Time and I can't Get no Satisfacton Start me Up . Street Fighting Man Chaile Watts Drumming is Awesome on That RIP Chaile. And Brown Sugar is a fantastic Riff.
sounds like Jerry Garcia!!
And Bob weir too!
Sound like Slayer, without the Marshall DSL40C and Egnater Tweaker
Inside of that huge wide range pickup cover, you will actually find a PAF style pickup surrounded by wax filling up the void. Fender make counterfeit versions of their own pickups.
You guys are awesome love every video I'd love to hear you try black stone cherry 😀
Sounds like Black Sabbath or Deep Purple or The Who or Led Zeppelin! Let's get some classic rock vibes going! :-D
Jimmy page has been done already
Jimmy Page has been done
A strat and a Marshall dsl40h.
Dude, this IS classic rock. We talkin about that really old school rock here! But i like what you suggested as well, though Jimmy Page has already been done.
So... Time for Alice in Chains?
Amazing as always!
Love the classic vibes 😻
aerosmith? please
That's going to be hard considering how many amps and guitars Joe and Brad have.
marshalls and gibsons
done
they used a Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute for Joe and a Gibson Les Paul Studio for Brad
for amps they got their arch nemesis the DSL40C for Joe and for Brad they got the Peavey Classic 20 head and cab for fx i can't really remember but i think they used a compressor
Just watched it, actually. No compressor, but they had Archers (klon clones) and GE-7 EQ pedals.
They already did Joe Perry and Aerosmith...
Chuck Berry please
R I P man
He stole the opening bit of Johnny be good just saying
As a Rolling Stones fan and especially an HUGH fan of Keith Richards (He is the one responsible for inspiring me to pickup the guitar almost 40 years ago) I really like this video you all put together. Thanks!!!
Great video guys, In Australia, at least, these are $1800 - $2000 amps, on a budget using the most accurate but affordable gear they can find !!!
A sounds like for robby krieger would make my world
Sounds like buckethead please?
pedals, lot's of pedals 😂
Kill switch!
great work guys!
Awesome Video, Sweet Telecaster
You guys should do Alex Lifeson, show us Rush fans some love
Exactly
They did..
Sounds like Korn and Deftones please
Really enjoyed this one! The more expensive amps helped massivly imo.
Really good job on this guys
Sound Like Andy Summers (The Police)
PLEASE DO GEORGE FORMBY !
Wow pretty impressive. one of your best ones imo
Exceptional job, as always! Thanks gents! I've got an easy one for you. Martin Barre of Jethro Tull. A seriously underrated guitarist that is pretty much guitar straight into amp.
Sounds like Yes! Or Dream Theater!
PLEASE DO SOUND LIKE THE PIXIES!!!!! :) Thanks (sorry for shouting...)
Hey guys!! I really enjoy all of your videos but with this one I was really surprised you didn't go for a Vox amp. Especially since the Stones became really popular for playing them (as did The Beatles) and also the supposed fuzzbox used in Satisfaction was also Vox. The Vox break is really signature with that kind of Stones sound (Brown Sugar, Gimme Shelter, etc etc) and that's why I really was expecting any ac15. And just to be clear I am not related to Vox in any mean (except for the fact that I own an ac15c2) ahahah
Cheers from Portugal and keep up with the great job with this series of videos
great video guys! it would be awesome if you did Sound Like Razorlight next
Do this BY busting the bank
Time for Radiohead guys.
Really enjoy these videos, btw :)
Great job guys, I've watched all the Sound likes. I'm sure it's pretty difficult to achieve most of these sounds but it must be fun to do. I'm sure it has already been suggested but how about Sound like Andy Timmons? Keep up the good work!
