The Icing Artist ILOUE you
The Icing Artist you butfil
Lorie I love u so much!!
I’d recommend freezing the cake you plan on putting on top. That way you could easily adjust it with your hands without worrying about ruining the buttercream.
great idea!
Perfect 👌🏾
What if the cake gets dry and is the day of the event ?
Also recommended sticking your hands in ice so the heat of your hands don’t melt the butter cream.
@@andreinamejia20 use simple syrup before icing layers
Just in time, as I’m doing my first 2 tiered cake 8” & 6” cake. Thank you very much for this video. Will be a great help. 💕💕
How it turn out!!
Same!
did you have to dowel supports for this small cake??
Omg same
Same I'm doing one too 😬😍
Love your videos! I'm a new hobby cake maker and I'm loving it! Did 3 this week, and I did the tier one today! Your advice was magnificent! Thanks so much!❤😁
While watching this video the only thing I had in mind was: "This is the reason why people shouldn't slam the face of the birthday person into the birthday cake. So many accidents have happened with people getting sticks stuck into their face. One almost lost an eye." So people!...never do that to anyone. All bakers stick things into the cake to structure them.
I've never tired a cake before, but now I'm not nervous at all about it. Thank you for the great video.
I'm literally making my mother in law's cake for her wedding and I've never ever ever made a tier cake before and this was so simple to follow.
Thank you for sharing your video. I prefer the straws as I have cut my finger cutting dowels b4 and they are strong. I haven't tried hammering a dowel through the centre as it scares me but i will have to try thins next time for extra support. Love all of your videos so helpful.
I HAVE tiered cakes. Sadly the first one I did not level well beforehand, so it looked a little wonky. The second one was levelled, and also fondant, so it held up and was lovely. Thanks for the tips!
2 years late but this is suuuuper helpful! making my first 2-tier cake for a wedding and I'm sups anxious. hopefully this guide will help me get through! thank youuu 🙌🏼
how did you do with your first 2-tier cake? I have to make a cake for 50 ppl for a 50th bday, tell me how yours turned out and how many it was for if you can, :)
@@VeryMaggs I did well! I'm not sure how many pax it was for the wedding, but it was an 8" bottom tier and 6" top tier (both 4 layers tall). pretty sure it fed up to 50 people at least! hope it helps, good luck to you!! ❤️
Thanks, this makes me stress less. My daughter wants a bottom tier chocolate Bavarian cake, top tier baked cheese cake with berries. I have told her the cheese cake would be better on the bottom but this is what she wants. I feel a little more confident after watching this, thanks again.
Thank you . You make everything easy. I appreciate you!!!
I tried making a tiered gingerbread themed cake for my mom’s December birthday...grossly underestimated the size of the cake layers, first of all 😅 then I only had bendy straws as supports, so I cut the bendy part off and made-do 😅 it survived the car ride but by the time I got to her 2nd floor apartment (no elevator), it looked like the slanted Whoville mountain village 🤣 and THEN my mom goes “I’m gonna use the bathroom” while I’m trying to hold this cake upright long enough for her to enjoy it - I yelled “PEE FASTER!!!” 🤣🤣🤣 (btw it was a spice cake with vanilla buttercream). She LOVED the cake and was even more moved to tears by how much work I put into it just for her 🥰
You’re a good daughter. 👍
Thank you for this video!! I have never done this... I have turn out some orders because of this step!! But I wanted to see how it was done!! You make it looks nice!! Thank you!
Love your cakes your recepies omg
Putting the board on top of the cake and the flipping it round...blew my MIND!
I'm about to and I'm going to use this method... I watched a lot of RUclips videos and it's took a lot of convincing to get my daughter to let me make my grandson's birthday cake.. I'm so excited!!
You are wonderful and I like your work 😋
I asked my sister who lives in the UK how to tier a cake as I’m making one for my granddaughter’s birthday. She started going on about dowels and suchlike but it was hard to understand over the phone. So... I searched on RUclips and came across this video which made the process much clearer. A really excellent video I must say - straight to the point, no unnecessary, long-winded intro, fast but not too fast and perfectly clear... now I just hope that my effort turns out even half as well!
I’ve made a two tier cake only once before, I did the second method you mentioned with a fondant owl cake 😁 unfortunately, I didn’t know your video existed when I did it, otherwise I would’ve used a longer dowel- I don’t think it even went past half of the top tier but it did still feel secure though... luckily I stacked it at the location so thankfully, there’s was less chance of any sliding accidents! Thank you for your advice! So appreciative! Xx
I have never tiered a cake before but am taking a basic baking class soon! So I can learn about all cake things. Your videos have helped me so much I can never thank you enough
That cake looks so good! This video made me hungry. :O
You hit 1.5 M!!! Let’s go Laurie!! Love your videos :)

The Icing Artist OH MY GOSH YOU RESPONDED! THIS JUST MADE MY DAY❤️❤️❤️
I love your video! Gets straight to the point!
Thank you so much for making this video it helped alot
Love you so much
I'm surprising my cousin on her birthday and this is so helpful thank you!
So the cakeboards stay IN the cake between each layer (in addition to the dowel rods/thick straws)? Or did you remove the cakeboard when putting the second tier on top of the first?
Very helpful thank you!
Thank you! That was very helpful!
You are amazing at making these! Helped a lot, your really good c
I have never ever tier two, I will try your way, you were ver explicit it, thank you
Excellent tuturial! Thank you
I love your cakes!!!!!
I’m making my first tiered cake next month and I’m curious how you know exactly where that hole in the center of your cake board is going to be if you can’t see it because you’re putting the dowel through the top of the cake?
superb video... really very helpful. I have a recipe request... eggless macrons recipe please.
Easy to follow instructions and I dig the cute background music. A+

Sharpening the Dowel with a pencil sharpener 🤯 mind blown 😄. I have never thought of that! Thanks for the tips!!
Just a quick question. When you eat the cake, won’t the dowels not let you cut into it? And what about the cardboard?
Great question. For an event like a wedding you would go to a room in the back and you would cut until the cardboard. You can cut around the dowel and remove the cardboard as you go.Hope this helps!
Thank you!
So nice cake 👍

Hi, thanks for the great video. Did you put 6 inch cake on top tier while keeping cake board underneath? If yes then do we need to make center hole inside 6 inch cake board before so that center dowel can slide thru board
Hi. Enjoyed your video. What is the best base for a large bottom tier of a wedding cake if I am going to use a walnut slab as the cake stand?
Thanks for your tips
👍👍👍👍💕💕💕💕
Thank you😊
YESSSS NOW I KNOW THANKS LAURIE
Great technique thanks
I love this thank you!
Hi, thanks for your video. I was wondering if I could do a 3 tier cake with the middle one being real cake and the other 2 dummies.
Hi! I'll be making my first 2-tiered cake!! Is it possible to use chiffon cakes for tier cakes? Or what is the best type of cake to use? I love chiffon cakes but just afraid it will fall apart in tier cakes! Thanks!!
Nice video. We explained! That's the technique I use for my cakes. I have a bit of difficulty putting my gumpaste flowers and the cake has to be slid back.
Hi, thanks You for this tutorial. Do You wait until the frosting of the first level gets hard to mark with the cardboard the second tier? It is the hard part for me because the frosting sticks to the cardboard and it is hard to get the cake in the center. Thanks for your help.
Love you!!
😍😍😍😍

Laurie, thank you for the easy way of explaining "how to" in this vid. I love your presentation and teaching method. I have just done a single layered cake, with two levels... so I've never used dowels etc. But now I know how. :)

For the four layers on the bottom, do you need to use dowels? And do you put a board between each of them?
Hi, may i know what king of frosting did you used? It looks very stable.. and do you have a video of it?? Thank you from Philippines ❤️

hi...are you using 3inch deep pans? 2 pans for each tier? please let me know thank you
Do you use a cake board for the bottom tier or do you just put the layers straight on the make board?
super
Cool love CAKES
Hello, can you share the video of how to make the vanilla cake please. For Spain, which is 1 box white cake mix ?? wheat flour??
Hi! Do you stack a two tier cake like this prior to delivery or on site after you deliver it?
You can refrigerate your layers at home and then put it together on site or you can put it together, freeze it, and then transport it to the site.Either one works and I would recommend putting it together at home because it’s easier and faster but they work equally amazingly.Hope I helped in any way!
I will try this ,thank u for this tutorial. I hope i can do this. I will make 2 tier cake and im only a hobby baker
so helpful
