Pretty impressive thing about these videos in addition of seeing an immediate difference in the student is that you also witness how to be a great coach! 🙌
    Superb.

It’s stunning to me that this video has only so few views. This video shows so well how to use technology AND how to deliberately practice with small progressions. I can almost feel how new neural pathways are created in the player’s brain!

Super helpful tip that this guy improve a lot !! But it looks more something lossing the power of forward, it says hitting the ball thinner.. how to fix ?

As much as I hate standing around, your technical analysis and articulation is far superior than coaches that just have their students hitting balls, like especially if there’s significant fundamental flaws.
Repetition is good if the fundamentals are correct but most rec players aren’t… I wish you were based in the uk 😂

If you don't find videos of yourself too depressing and promptly quit (I've been tempted) I think for most adults with average talent they are almost the only way to make any significant improvement. Most people think they are doing something but they are really not. It baffles me as to why this isn't the norm rather than the exception, especially given how affordable and sophisticated the technology has become. Too many coaches just go through the motions and teacher and student delude themselves there is progress.

@@markscott6102 Same here. Also rarely see coaches use video. Happens more in figure skating, and I am told it happens more in golf. Why not tennis?

@@julianpenfold1638 absolutely no idea. I don’t have much confidence in coaches other than the online ones these days. I’ve never seen any coach use technology or have any kind of progressive method. They all just hit endlessly from the back of the court while the player repeats the same errors over and o ver again.

@@markscott6102 Laziness, fear of tech replacing them, lack of enthusiasm after years of teaching hopeless adults (and kids) some of whom probably like the idea of improving at tennis but are not prepared to do the hard work and employ the right focus. I share your lack of confidence and have had the same experience. Coaches often need to be really pushed into bringing the necessary focus onto fixing your basics. Figure skating is indoor so easier to film and jumps are absurdly hard so it's probably even more needed than in tennis. Golf I am told a lot of the tech is mounted in the driving range hutches and in indoor studios - maybe outdoor tennis is harder, in the wind, rain and cold, especially if you want to use a big screen like Ian has. But nothing stopping them using a phone or cheap gopro knockoff, and I am curious to know how much it would cost a club to install hawkeye style tech around the courts, maybe members could pay a premium to download the results to mitigate costs. Golf manages to make it pay.

@@julianpenfold1638 all good points Julian. As you say, a lot of adults probably don’t have the time or motivation to practice between lessons, they’d rather just play in club sessions or matches. Maybe the idea of going back to the basics and starting slowly with hand feeds etc does not appeal to most people who are not complete beginners so the coaches just avoid it? For me, I bought a ball machine, set it to an easy mode, got a tripod for my phone and used Coaches Eye for slo-mo frame by frame analysis. I also had the time during the week to practice which many probably don’t. I would mix it up between ball machine and partners until the past year when I only used the ball machine exclusively. Now after making big improvements and really getting the two handed backhand down I’m back to hitting with people (which is great!) with a variety of hitting styles plus playing club sessions. Before doing all of this the only coaching session I had was more like a fitness workout than actual learning and developing.

great content, but i got some questions. it turns out he can generate more spin but lost some penetration like before... why coach is always emphasize on the racquet face angel ? sometime flat shot can win more time and space, sometimes spin can help on hitting the ball safely passing net and more consistent rally. But from the last couple of footage , this guy's backhand seems like less power but some spins, and very very rigid on both arm muscles especially he was trying to close the racquet face. If this is in a real game, probably he will be in some tough moments when facing tall guy with big hitters. He should be taught about how to hit with power and spin with relax, not just blindly adding spin to his shot.

I’d argue regular folks would not be able to use Rafa’s swing path behind the baseline like he does. If one does most likely the ball will be short and inside service box. Rafa is very strong so he can do that

I think you can do it. It just requires more “work” . Because If you get a feeling for your shot, you can achieve a lot with better timing and weight transfer. It takes more practicing tho

The fact that you are showing him your lefty backhand is so strange - all those videos and study and then not to be able to show the right-handed BH.
