I just got a Slinger ball machine and I have been hitting pretty good lately from the backhand side since I got the ball machine. This is a great video my friend. My problem is my foot work because of hip replacements. I have been doing better, I am 52 years old and I just started playing tennis again from a 24 year old hiatus. But since I started playing tennis 8 months ago, I lost 40 pounds and I am moving better. I also have been working hard to improve my technique and tennis game.
My problem is timing the backswing. I would love to have your timing so that I meet the ball squarely out in front when I swing forward and snap on the ball.
excellent presentation!!! - best description of the mechanics and what happens in the hitting zone that I have seen on RUclips - and I was a teaching pro and had instruction from one of the best tennis teachers in the country.
This is the best two-handed backhand video EVER!! I improved so much by just watching this video before my game. I think it comes from Steven's hurdles and struggles while developing his technique. Other people that might have learned this at a younger age and does it naturally, might not have all these IMPORTANT details. Great video.
very nice 2hbh. I’ve been migrating over from a natural one hander and this is a super helpful guide as i can’t generate as much 2hbh power as i’m used to with my one hander.
I think I finally understand how to hit a two-hand backhand. I can see it in my mind and can feel it in the practice swing. Will try it out tomorrow. Subscribed. Thanks!
This video is reallay great i have been working on my backhand for 2 years many tennis coaches ignorr the right hand factor i genuinely think this vixeo is a must see it should had much more views
Always look forward to your videos!! Great contact as per usual. You should have some of highest subs of all tennis instruction. Jmho from watching probably every instructor online
Great video I will start playing 2 hands backhand so I will watch this video again and again . Why The contact point should be so close to you? Why spin is not compatible with consistency?
Excellent breakdown of the mechanics of the two-hander. My dominant arm and elbow had been getting tucked in and jammed into my side and not rising with the non-dominant hand and elbow as you show it done correctly. Also, the "half finish" with the racquet head up and not going behind the body is really helpful.
I saw in one of your other videos you said it’s best to use your stopping muscles to create snap. Not only do I believe this is quite dangerous for someone’s health in terms of injury, but it also shows in your swings. You SEEM to be using a lot of forearm in your shot, which simply is not correct or at the very least not possible for most players. There’s a reason you load with your core and your shoulders, because those are the parts of your body you need to use in your swing. That “snap” comes from the racket lagging behind as you relax your wrists and let those muscles complete the shot. You don’t “stop” your arms, you let the racket follow through on its own while your arm carries it. Most of tennis shot is natural momentum and using the strings most efficiently. A lot of the stuff you’ve said, perhaps maybe I’m not understanding clearly enough, but it seems to be a misinterpretation of what you see in the pros and what you feel in your own strokes.
Perfect way of putting it... I 100% agree... I’m 17 and 6 foot 5 inches so you bet I have to have good mechanics... even as a one handed backhand player I don’t use muscles to stop a stroke... I use bug muscles like my legs and core to load my shot then go through by in loading... if I were to use stopping mechanics I would probably hurt myself
2HBH- Squeeze, paw, flow both hands. For Players 1-2/week: use short follow through-squeeze, pop and if playing regularly then go for long f/w thru like the pros. Absolutely the best 2hbh instruction as Alex (top tennis), Rq flex, feel, DTL, Essential TTD, time value, etc are all SHB coaches trying to teach 2HBH
Coach, you mentioned that the 2-handed backhand is like a left-handed forehand, but I am struggling to generate any power unless I play it like a right-handed backhand (using my left hand as a guide), especially if I do it with a stop-and-pop. Here's a video that suggests something similar: ruclips.net/video/ELEfNZrg-qw/видео.html
What a concept? You claim to have the invincible backhand. If you did, why am I not watching you on TV instead of RUclips? Incredible arrogance. The way you flip your racket head on the forehand in your demo swings gives a good indication that you don’t know technique. Popping the ball is so difficult to time, most people should even consider it. Squeeze-pop-finish is the worst concept I have ever heard. Pop makes the finish irrelevant because the pop releases the ball making the finish irrelevant. You are talking to folks who don’t have backhands that never break down. And your demo guy is wrapping his wrist around the ball; he is demonstrating a shot that will break down. The shot shape that an experienced player uses is based on what works best against a particular opponent. The two handed slice, fade backhand doesn’t exist in real tennis. I feel ill after watching this piece.
Hard to take technical advice from a coach that uses and advocates yo teaching people to use a 2 handed forehand. There is a reason no pro uses a 2HFH on tour.

Thanks for watching.. great to hear you're enjoying the game again and getting in shape!

Rewatched this many times. Love the pop on your strikes!

This is by far the best video on your channel about technique
This video is reallay great i have been working on my backhand for 2 years many tennis coaches ignorr the right hand factor i genuinely think this vixeo is a must see it should had much more views
Thank you. Good lesson on backhand.
so many nuggets in here, thx!
Yes, I do the too fast left hand thing sometimes. Nice to hear it explained.
Super helpful. Best instruction for the 2 handler that I’ve seen!
Always look forward to your videos!! Great contact as per usual. You should have some of highest subs of all tennis instruction. Jmho from watching probably every instructor online
Awesome Video on the two banded backhand Coach Steven. I always enjoy your videos, it gives me great insight to improve my teaching and playing!!
The Best Backhand Video i have Seen.
Great video I will start playing 2 hands backhand so I will watch this video again and again .
Why The contact point should be so close to you?
Why spin is not compatible with consistency?
Great stuff 👍
Half finish is used even by pros if they want to get extra control. Good advice. 👍
Great instructional video on the 2hbh. Thank you!
I tend to loop my 2hbh too high. Will work on the lessons from you. Thanks!
Great instructions. Thanks
Damn. So much here to fix my 2HBH. Thanks
How do you return really high balls with a two handed BH?
Take it early, step back or slice.
@@Vipa567 or jump up 4 feet in the air like Michael Chang
awesome 2hand backhand man!
Amazing video!
awesome video! thanks coach!!
Thanks man another great video 👍
Shoulder turn - hit inside back hand, use lowerbody. Squeeze with finger at contact to transfer the kinetic energy.

Coach Steven great video as always. What is the name of the artist and song during the intro? Thanks!
great share, excellent.
If you use the left wrist to set the racket back intentionally how are you still able to feel the weight of the racket?
I still want to know why you don't post videos anymore? Thanks

what racket are you using ?
What grips are you using?
pretty eastern for two hands on both sides to not much grip change

don't squeeze to hard, might get TE.
brilliant

Rick Messi would definitely disagree with you hitting the ball on the inside. Lol.

Monica Seles won 9 majors with a two handed forehand you jackal.
Servant of the Lord is a bit too judgmental! Repent!!
Spoiler alert, you will never make the tour
You're not watching the same pro games I have been watching then. Most pro players use a two hand back hand these days.
