thanks for that tip... push down on the racquet with my left arm before I swing up with a pull from the right arm/push from the left arm as the arms uncoil.. will have to view a couple of times and thanks for the drill suggestion also!
Thank you for the video 🙏 On of the hardest things in tennis for me to learn was the correct wrist movement. It was already hard to relax my wrist at the forhand swing. And even harder for the backhand. After watching this video and recreating the shadow swing in front of a mirror really helped. I can create so much more spin now
I watched this video again and it clicked!!! The wrist lag on back hand works. Thank you. My daughter and I enjoy your videos and there easy to understand.🙂
I like the approach. Aside from the usual take away fundamentals, it makes you think of push/pull, rather than a bunch of mechanical points that you can’t possibly think of in an actual swing.
great guys , you did it again !!!! Thanks after a woundelful forehand series , a benchmark from now on for the forehand videos Now you touch the topic of twohanded backhand with the same prospective . great job
I felt different sensation doing the flip of racquet. Watching novak slow motion, his motion is more like a nike swoosh, up-down-up+forward. Executing this on the court resulted a tame shot with no power. Then i tried to make the same nike swoosh, but this time forcefully flipping the racquet back and down then continue with up+forward motion. The result was great.
Another dope video. Just swung my racket a few times in my living room this way and it feels great. I can’t wait to try it out on the court in the next couple of days. I already know this is going to help me tons. Thanks a lot. May you win nearly all your matches!
Bro u need way more subs. This is a joke that you only have 25k subs you need at least 1 mil. So many other you tubers make videos that are way less detailed but have way more subs. Nice job on the editing too
Your explanation and analysis is awesome man!!! Way better and more complex and detailed than others that have ay more views... I don't understand why your vids dont grow more in views...TOP CLASS!
Great, amazing and informative video as usual butI have a quick question. i can only seem to flip well if i push down with my upper hand before i start pulling my lower and pushing my upper. will this still work?or is it going to be to slow
Good video! The primary engine is the hips and legs and the arms just transmit the power. After a player gets the correct arm movements, they have to go back to the hips and getting the arms to follow the hips. I see many upper-body 2HBH. Not pretty.
Should I be shifting my weight and loading my right leg (rightie) before pulling the racquet down or at the same time as pulling the racquet down? Thank you in advance.
Great video, just tried to shadow hit, what I am missing is what is the right grip on the racquet for this technique? The swing feels fine but as the racquet approaches the ball strike point it feels unruly as if there's zero control of the racquet face. That's what prevents me from being 'loose' with it. It gets even worse as the racquet head moves past the ball strike point. Unless I actively control the racquet face, it's all over the place. That requires more grip on the racquet handle and that kills all lag and snap.
Great question! Although you don't want to hit your actual shot like a left-handed forehand, it is very helpful to practice a "classic-style" left-handed forehand to practice the contact & extension.
i thin this is at parts ambigous. What is the top arm, when u say: Pro tip "Pull with the hitting arm, then push with the top arm" ? The non-hitting arm becomes the top arm after contact point. Thanx for clarification
The use of your legs in this video is likely more critical to proper backhand technique. The movement, transfer of weight from the back foot to the front foot and hitting off the front foot at contact point sets you up for success. Likely the most overlooked component of generating power and consistency in all shots regardless of technique.

You lost me at elastic energy. The human body doesn't store significant amounts of elastic energy. Especially not when you coil your body. During your stroke your tendons will store elastic energy and release it afterwords immediately.
so in the end you say "keep your top arm loose and pull with a bottom hand" and in the beggining you said "push with your top arm more, its not forehand from the backhand side". Really really difficult video even for a college level player to understand.
bla bla bla ...putting many unrelated stuff together doesn't mean anything. You successfully avoided what's the lag and how to do the lag. Sorry to say your video is the worst off all I watched about 2 hand backhand.
I’ve watched a ton of tennis video but these are the only videos that explains tennis from a biomechanistic logic standpoint. Thank you so much!
Thanks Chiwoo!
yes, but clearly this is "lag to drag" the racket and not "lag to snap" the racket...clickbait or something here

Yes, this tip literally transformed my backhand in one practice session. Was the missing piece and it clicked.
Thank you for the video 🙏

Hello dou initiate the wrist lag by using your left wrist talking from a right handed player’s perspective
You guys are the best. I learn the way you guys teach. Scientific, in depth and real-world application. Wish you guys well.
Very intuitive to follow. Can’t wait to hit the courts and practice. Thank you!

It will very quickly...a lot of others have annoying speech patterns & voices 😂
simply the best logical explanation of two handed BH ! Thank you guys!!
Love you’re backhand! How do you achieve a straight right arm (like Agassi)?
This video answers my question, best backhand video, thank you !
Great explanation. Well done
Great video, this is next level two handed backhand.
awesome video - thank you for the info!
Awesome, I have been waiting for this one. Great job guys!
Glad you enjoyed the video Tony! Much more to come 🏆

Maaaaan that technique!!! And that racquet! Haha
Top Pros, and what the Science says.
Love it!!!!!! Nishikori, Nadal, Berdych, guys, good choices!!!!
Thanks Jorge! Glad you like it
hey, can you make a video about the tennis one-handed backhand lag and snap technique?
Should I be shifting my weight and loading my right leg (rightie) before pulling the racquet down or at the same time as pulling the racquet down?
Thank you in advance.
Hey RF! I didnt understand the Nadal and kei backhand technique? They use both arm in sync??
Thanks and good luck!!

Does practicing left handed forehands help with backhand?

Great 2 hander
NADAL must definitely watch this video. ;)
awesome
But when the ball is high, I have to use the left hand mainly, using the right hand doesn’t work when the ball is high for me
My only problem is that my left hand tends to come under too much and therefore opens the racket face to the sky and my shots go long. Any tips?
I see you including my boy Nishikori, ey. :] Thanks for the informative video guys. Enjoying the physics and biomechanics as always.
What is your USTA level?
which grip ?
Many coaches say left hand does much work on BH?!?!

That's a great point, Shane. Thanks for the feedback!

great video, but it triggers me a bit, that the one guy is falling away after every shot
