    I always appreciate the detailed explanation that you give to your viewers. For example, your step by step explanation of measuring the ball distance was very nice.
    Honestly the hardest part of groundstroke mechanisms (in my part opinion) is creating that natural lag and releasing it naturally. Your videos are always great! Appreciate the great upload 😊

      The more I work with students the more I keep seeing the same thing over and over and it usually comes down to 2 basic things. Ask yourself how do I watch the ball? and How do I then proceed to move to it? These two things pretty much tell me all I need to know about a tennis player within a few short minutes. Most people don't realize all the acute awareness steps one must take to properly anticipate the ball, let alone hit a decent shot....A good player will be thinking about many things that are naturally moving through the mind connecting to anticipation: depth perception, height, the shot you have given to your opponent, where on the court your opponent receives ball, the stroke opponent hits the ball with(low-to-high vice versa) the sound the shot makes off opponents racquet. Great players are anticipating exactly where that ball will bounce as soon as it's contacted, and that's what separates good players from phenomenal ones.

      @@ldeue4837 I totally agree with your points. After taking a break from tennis for a year and half, i recently got back into it and have been uploading videos of myself playing. I feel like the toughest thing at the moment is moving the right way to the right place. My ability to judge the ball has become significantly worse than before.
      Since you sound like an active coach, do you mind taking a look at some of my videos? I am trying to become even better than before. My goal is to play in a 5.0 league

    Hi, great tips and love your backhand! My biggest problem is mini tennis backhand rallying where I just lose all control over my shot. Hitting a normal rally ball from the baseline tends to be much easier to control for me. Any tips for the mini tennis double backhand? Or maybe you could make a video about this? Thanks TENFITMEN!

  • @germanslice
    @germanslice 3 года назад

    Milan, I don't think like a club player so I think the Serve Return also goes along with the Serve. Because what good is the serve if you hit the serve into the box and the guy on the other end returns the serve back to you and you can't back up your serve with a good solid serve return if the serve you hit into the box is not good enough or not hit short and wide enough to stop the other guy from being able to capatalize to drive the serve back. Reason why I mention the serve return and why my former coach also emphasized the serve return when teaching me the serve is because the backhand (as well as the forehand) groundstroke return is also a part of the point in the serve. So I view the Serve and the Serve Return as part of the serve.. So being a good server to me also means having a good solid serve return. for its no good having a good solid serve without a solid return. It does not means just getting the serve down into the box. For that's only part of the shot. if you serve is not good enough to stop the ball from getting driven back then you have to back it up with the serve return.
    You want to put your serves away with either an unreturnable ace or a 1-2 combo if possible. or combination. At the higher levels of this game when I was under the former national coach, I focused on stringing together combos to break down tennis players Just
    like in video fighting games. .

    very interesting video, thanks. i am working very much on my backhand the last months and i found out that a straight left arm at contact and follow through gives me good power and control. also, it looks quite nice, i think. in your demos in this videos you have some examples with bend arms, but i have the impression that if you focus on other things to demonstrate, you tend to have nearly straight arms at contact and follow through, too. what i like! to see ;-) your advice to train "the left hand forehand" is key to success in my opinion.

I was just wondering from watching your videos in regards to your backhand that you use a slightly eastern backhand grip on your dominant hand (bottom) and an eastern forehand grip on your non dominant hand(top) ?
