Love it!🥰 Thanks for doing an updated version of how to do this!
I love your mini hydros. Tempted to add a tent. Then shelves. Then lights. Then a hundred of these guys lol
Nice job. I will have to try that this fall in my indoor garden. Thanks and take care
You are the best! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge
This is brilliant, thank you muchly for sharing the start to finish process. 👍
Take care KP, & everyone too. ❤🙂🐶
You rock Khang!!!
Love your videos !
You’re too good at this. I’m constantly doing hydro along with kratky method and soil. My hydroponics has to be in a bigger container to produce well. Always love the videos.
looking good!
Hi. I’m a New subscriber and so happy I found your channel. Thank you so much for all the info on how to grow vegetables indoors hydroponically. I would have never known. I ordered seeds and netting baskets. I can’t wait to try it out. Thank you so much
Such a cool little system. If there is a good way to grow in a small space I know your going to find it!
Thats awesome I use the red cuos with a bigger net cup 🥤 works the same....hood job 🎉
If you aren’t sure I’d always suggest pregerminating the seeds to ensure you only put the viable ones into a grow setup. Damp kitchen roll in a sandwich bag for a few days usually works well. As soon as see a shoot and know the seed is viable you put it in the hole as normal.
Starlight? Sounds like a cool variety 😎 😄
You always bring your joyful playfulness to your growing / experimenting planting ways Khang! Do you ever come across many ornamental varieties that are exceptional performers in small container hydro planting? Here in mid-February I am having mixed starting results this season. Just how a season begins sometimes I reckon. Hope you lose the rest of that cold that is lingering for you. You may have a cold snap down your way next week. Here the temps may warm up to 0 Wednesday and Thursday next week. Happy Growing! -Bob...
Thanks, Bob! I just created an ornamental variety that is exception in small spaces. You can see the plant at 6:01, the variety is called Sweet QueeNhi. This plant puts out hundreds of pods, no heat whatsoever.
@@KhangStarr That kind of reminds me of a traditional Super Chilly size wise, a close to the ground short height plant. Last season I had a couple of Super Chilly plants that grew upward, nearing 30"+. Have a couple started to try this season.
would love see more of these mini plant videos. i bought a small Chili variety in denmark 3 year ago and i got some seeds, only 1 seed was germinated this year but i´m exited too see was this little thing will produce beacause i think its a f1 hybrid. Salsa XP Yellow only 10cm high^^
This might be my method when crossing. For F2+
thats what i forgot to do lol. ive never had any trouble getting seeds to grow for years, but this year ive been having a lot of issues getting sprouts. I still managed to get some, but no where near a 100% germination rate like i usually always get.
I forgot to put them in an enclosed area with a bag or plastic container like i usually always do. I really want to do hydro but I just havnt made the switch yet. I absolutely hate the flies that come with plants in soil, so im hoping that hydro will fix the problem of those pesky flies indoors.
Yes! I was just looking for hydroponic videos yesterday and watched a few of your older videos. I'm happy to see you posted another video on this. Thank you and happy belated birthday!
Awesome! So without insects the flowers do produce fruits?
I'm thinking about trying this with my goldfish pond water. A kratky aquaponics sort of set.
Hello Khang Star. Loved this video. I want to try this method of growing peppers. Can you do this without the Grow Lights System, just natural light at the window? Thanks for your answer.
Natural light will work but it must be direct sun natural light for at least 6 hrs.
@@KhangStarr Thanks Khang Star. That’s definitely should work for me since I live in South Florida where there’s plenty of sunshine! Appreciate your kind response! Please continue sharing your vast knowledge with us! Stay safe!
Hi Khang, I appreciate your videos, thanks! Just letting you know all your affiliate links are out of date, the products are no longer available. I'm not in your country anyway, but thought I'd let you know. (If you have a recommendation for concentrate to buy for feeding them that's available in the UK that would be awesome!)
Love your videos, Khamg! Thanks for doing this, really helpful. The main question I have is on the subject of feeding after fruit starts to set. The video mentions feeding the plant both cal-mag and dyna-gro Bloom all the way up to the fruiting. Once fruit starts to set, do you use just dyna-gro Bloom on its own, or do you continue to use both?
Once the plant is flowering, I usually switch to Bloom and add calmag.
@@KhangStarr thanks for clearing that up!
@@KhangStarr one more question on nutrients if I may? So I'm having a go at doing this for my grows this year and the first of my seedlings has grown to the point where the roots are now sticking out of the bottom of the rock wool. Now that it's time to start feeding it from the bottom, do you use the 5ml per gallon of grow from the very start or should it be half strength until the plant transitions from seedling to young plant?
Any suggestions on a cheap light setup for this?
Hi I like your videos and as a beginner I want to try to go hydro to soil self water container is that possible? I am in Wales, UK and trying to do the gardening in my apartment any advice? thanx 😊
Love the mini system but aphids are an issue only for my chilli plants lost 8 flowering plants over winter any tips please.
Khang, how often are you moistening the rockwool cube with seedling to make the roots come out the bottom? I'm having difficulty getting the roots to come out of the bottom of my rockwool cubes. Thank you.
Great question, I'd like some clarification on that too! I'm totally new to this method, looking forward to trying it though!
i 've done this for years. but i use black battery energy drink bottles to block the light from roots.
Great videos. Serious question. Regarding the Kratky method refill-changing the water. Refill after a few weeks to the bottom of netcup, maybe once OK. The roots in Kratky grow like an umbrella, upper part for air and lower for the solution nudriens. When changing the water must also be filled to the bottom of the netcup OR can be covered a bit of umbrella but still leave room for air, or what? Simple, you fill with the same amount of water as what you replaced??? Thanks for the reply.
From what I've seen, do the refill, but do not cover the air roots with water. Covering the air roots will drown the plant.
So to keep it small you just cut the top off? How do you keep from killing the plant when you do that? Thanks.
Would you be able to make a video or at least include in your next video the importance (or unimportance) of what water to use for Aerogardens and other hydroponic set ups? My area has very hard water and I do not have an in-home RO water filter to use. What types of water are okay to use and what water is best to use for hydroponics, specifically Aerogardens?
In case Khang doesn’t answer 🥰. I would recommend just buying distilled or RO water by the gallon from your local grocery or Walmart. I have very hard water in my area of Texas and I have used bottled distilled water with success on my plants that don’t like hard water. Hope this helps!
@@jeanettehaygood4154 it does, thank you. I was mostly wondering if I could just tweak tap water with some pH up or down liquid to make it suitable for growing. I don’t filter any of the water I use on my plants in soil and they seem to be just fine.
Texas water is also very hard, and that's what I use. If you use RO water, your nutrients ratio must be adjusted to match, but there is no need to use RO.
@@KhangStarr awesome, thank you. So I will just use tap water and adjust pH accordingly with the pH up and pH down that you use. Thank you.
What ph meter do you use? Or does ph not matter as much with mini hydroponics?
Can I do Jalapeños with this method?
holy shit... beer cozies, thats genius... lool
Hey Khang, are there any particular varieties that work better with this style of hydroponic? Would Aji Charapita be a good choice?
Aji Charapita will work, I've done it for this variety.
I bought that same rockwool because it was on sale. Never again. It is garbage.
Thanks for sharing @khang starr
Total garbage! I want to return this but I used a few already LOL
@KhangStarr have you found a place to buy koozies cheaply?
Using them is a great idea!
I don't know, but often when I attend shows, people always give them out. I collected a bunch to use for these projects =)
Hi Khang. Would this work outdoors (California Central Coast) or do the plants need to be indoors under grow lights 24/7?
You can grow it outdoors fine. the only reason why its recommended to have them undergrow lights is if you are growing indoors because peppers need a lot of light and winter days are shorter. temps are lower. etc. but if you are just wondering if you can grow in hydro without grow lights yes you can.
what is the light that you use?
Is it a Dwarf variety or are you growing them in small sizes? can we really grow that short size always ?
What is Rockwool Cube? What is the alternative, please?
what type of peppers are they?
Is tap water ok for this system?
Salts from fertilizer do drop your pH, no?
Hi Khang. Is your lightning on 24/7?
No, max it run is 11 on and the rest off.
@@KhangStarr thank you!
Okay RANDOM IDEA
rock wool cube used as normal in a water bottle rite?
Then here’s where it gets funky…
No water at bottom… not exactly
A rockwool cube on the bottom
with a gravity fed drip line stuck into the cube
To keep it water logged.
If NFT
Drip
And standing water system had a freaky Friday and made a system
was recorded in December and it’s now February
That goes to show how much work was put into making this video. The recording was done over the span of 10 weeks.
@@KhangStarr holy hell. 100% most respect. No cap. You got me into hydo
