    If you aren’t sure I’d always suggest pregerminating the seeds to ensure you only put the viable ones into a grow setup. Damp kitchen roll in a sandwich bag for a few days usually works well. As soon as see a shoot and know the seed is viable you put it in the hole as normal.

    You always bring your joyful playfulness to your growing / experimenting planting ways Khang! Do you ever come across many ornamental varieties that are exceptional performers in small container hydro planting? Here in mid-February I am having mixed starting results this season. Just how a season begins sometimes I reckon. Hope you lose the rest of that cold that is lingering for you. You may have a cold snap down your way next week. Here the temps may warm up to 0 Wednesday and Thursday next week. Happy Growing! -Bob...

      Thanks, Bob! I just created an ornamental variety that is exception in small spaces. You can see the plant at 6:01, the variety is called Sweet QueeNhi. This plant puts out hundreds of pods, no heat whatsoever.

      @@KhangStarr That kind of reminds me of a traditional Super Chilly size wise, a close to the ground short height plant. Last season I had a couple of Super Chilly plants that grew upward, nearing 30"+. Have a couple started to try this season.

    thats what i forgot to do lol. ive never had any trouble getting seeds to grow for years, but this year ive been having a lot of issues getting sprouts. I still managed to get some, but no where near a 100% germination rate like i usually always get.
    I forgot to put them in an enclosed area with a bag or plastic container like i usually always do. I really want to do hydro but I just havnt made the switch yet. I absolutely hate the flies that come with plants in soil, so im hoping that hydro will fix the problem of those pesky flies indoors.

    Love your videos, Khamg! Thanks for doing this, really helpful. The main question I have is on the subject of feeding after fruit starts to set. The video mentions feeding the plant both cal-mag and dyna-gro Bloom all the way up to the fruiting. Once fruit starts to set, do you use just dyna-gro Bloom on its own, or do you continue to use both?

    • @KhangStarr

      @@KhangStarr one more question on nutrients if I may? So I'm having a go at doing this for my grows this year and the first of my seedlings has grown to the point where the roots are now sticking out of the bottom of the rock wool. Now that it's time to start feeding it from the bottom, do you use the 5ml per gallon of grow from the very start or should it be half strength until the plant transitions from seedling to young plant?

    Great videos. Serious question. Regarding the Kratky method refill-changing the water. Refill after a few weeks to the bottom of netcup, maybe once OK. The roots in Kratky grow like an umbrella, upper part for air and lower for the solution nudriens. When changing the water must also be filled to the bottom of the netcup OR can be covered a bit of umbrella but still leave room for air, or what? Simple, you fill with the same amount of water as what you replaced??? Thanks for the reply.

    • @dnw75
      @dnw75 Год назад

      From what I've seen, do the refill, but do not cover the air roots with water. Covering the air roots will drown the plant.

    Would you be able to make a video or at least include in your next video the importance (or unimportance) of what water to use for Aerogardens and other hydroponic set ups? My area has very hard water and I do not have an in-home RO water filter to use. What types of water are okay to use and what water is best to use for hydroponics, specifically Aerogardens?

    • @jeanettehaygood4154
      @jeanettehaygood4154 2 года назад +1

      In case Khang doesn’t answer 🥰. I would recommend just buying distilled or RO water by the gallon from your local grocery or Walmart. I have very hard water in my area of Texas and I have used bottled distilled water with success on my plants that don’t like hard water. Hope this helps!

    • @mattstalford4032
      @mattstalford4032 2 года назад +1

      @@jeanettehaygood4154 it does, thank you. I was mostly wondering if I could just tweak tap water with some pH up or down liquid to make it suitable for growing. I don’t filter any of the water I use on my plants in soil and they seem to be just fine.

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  2 года назад +3

      Texas water is also very hard, and that's what I use. If you use RO water, your nutrients ratio must be adjusted to match, but there is no need to use RO.

    • @mattstalford4032
      @mattstalford4032 2 года назад

    Hi Khang. Would this work outdoors (California Central Coast) or do the plants need to be indoors under grow lights 24/7?

    • @RyukyuStyle
      @RyukyuStyle 2 года назад +1

      You can grow it outdoors fine. the only reason why its recommended to have them undergrow lights is if you are growing indoors because peppers need a lot of light and winter days are shorter. temps are lower. etc. but if you are just wondering if you can grow in hydro without grow lights yes you can.
