Hi Khang! I just wanted to let you know that I find your videos very inspiring. I am starting my own hydroponic setup and I am following many of your techniques. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
I love how simple you make it to make your own hydroponics system, using things most people have on-hand, instead of listing off a million expensive items and tools, lol. I started watching your channel last month after I watched your video on how to over-winter peppers-- before that, I had no idea that pepper plants can live past the summer!
Last year was my first time growing vegetables, and I lost all my pepper plants due to the weather at the end of the season, and never even thought to bring them indoors for next year! I am definitely going to do that for all my pepper plants this year, instead of having to buy/grow from seed next summer!
One thing I'm curious about though, I see you growing all of these varieties of small peppers that grow UP instead of DOWN; I know you love hot peppers, but have you ever grown any sweet varieties, or encountered sweet varieties that grow small and upright like that? I think they're really neat looking and I'm going to try to cross a few of the different varieties I have from seed this year to make my own varieties like all of your cool crosses!
Thank you for all of your videos, they are very informative and relaxing, I love opening one of your videos because your voice is always just calming and chill, especially with the havoc of cornoavirus and the stress of having to work retail full time during the pandemic, I really enjoy watching all of your videos and updates, even as someone who doesn't like spicy food, it's so cool seeing all of the varieties you grow and the ones you've crosspollinated!
You do a great job keep up the good work
This was great! Thanks for sharing.
Really awesome, will definitely try this out man
I really prefer long videos over short ones, so the length was no problem. It would be great if you would start with pepper grafting again - maybe try to make a new multi grafted plant - i find this so fascinating! Great video as always, thank you
Your creative inventiveness is simply awesome Khang! I believe I had obtained similar containers to yours at Lowe's. Current 5 gallon and 17 gallon are on hand. As you suggest, plant pretty much as one likes while being mindful of plant growth and lighting demands. Also I appreciate the Honesty that you extend to Brad and his Hidden Harvest Lights. Having lived quite a bit of my life in Brad's neck of the woods, yes he carries some of that Yankee ingenuity and integrity with him. Happy Gardening! -Bob...
Thanks Bob! Are you able to plant yet?
@@KhangStarr Surprisingly Khang, I have most every thing the ground. Most have begun to grow well with the warm spring this season. Have peppers setting flowers and tomatoes already set also. Trying to dodge hail storms as they bounce around this season too. Still a few months behind you tho.
@@KhangStarr PS: If you ever wanted to seem a nice late winter day go sideways, just watch: ruclips.net/video/1Fmpv8mt4ag/видео.html
Thanks for this video! trying to have an apt garden...
Always respect the friction cut (reverse drilling used for plastic)
Excellent video!
Hello just watch this video. Love all great information.
Please tell me how long do you keep lights on and off thank you .
Your channel is awesome! I am about to start some tiny bok choy, have you ever grown those? I am a pepper fanatic also so I am about to start some peppers. I just got my seeds and I look forward to growing them. I have habanada, thai red chili, lemon spice jalapeno, brazilian starfish, and serrano. I am. just waiting for my rockwool to arrive.
What light distance do u put your lights at buddy, love the videos, u got me to start some DWC plants
As usual Khang your videos rock! So simple and easy. Looking forward to your next ones!
I’ve just got my first KS white Thai starting to grow wee chillis
KS White Thai is my favorite, probably top 5 peppers.
Hey GTF....please email me!
You won the calendar!

Hidden Harvest Grow Lights awe cool will do, thanks brad!!
Khang Starr I haven’t tried them yet not fresh, can you recommend a nice recipe for them? I wanna try and jam them maybe. have tried them powdered and enjoyed so can’t wait. It’s the KSLS I’m most looking forward to! But it’s just got its first true leaves lol, it’s now living in the areogarden to give it a head start then it’ll get its own place lol
Hidden Harvest Grow Lights email sent mate
Hi there nice vdos do u hv any alternatives for rockwool as they r not biodegradable and they are expensive too. Thanks
Hi Khang, you've inspired me to grow my own chilli plant! It's starting to get slight leaf oedema despite holding off watering often and the small leaves at the top are curling in. I've read the soil PH level can affect how a plant absorbs calcium. I was wondering what is the right soil PH level for a hot pepper plant? Thanks for everything you've shown thus far... I've been watching & learning loads from you!
Have you solved the issue yet? I'm having the same issue with both soil and hydro.
Thanks Khang. You've just given me an idea to use my large empty protein powder containers as a Kratky system. 👍
wow very nice dude
Nice
Now that is summer can I do it out side on top of my table.
Every time I do Kratky, the roots of my plants eventually keep browning but they constantly would produce new roots. How do you get yours to stay healthy?
I can ask you what those containers are called and where to buy them x favor ?? thanks
Khang Starr is a rock starr!!!
Hello Khang , I just wrote a long comment and you are answering most of my questions ! I do need to know what is the purpose of the electric pump you used in other videos ? Thanks so much ! Real teacher .
The pump is used for circulation of the water and nutrients. Using an air pump changes it from Kratky to DWC
I see you added the clay balls what are the names of those
How many hours of light did you use?
What temperature did you grow them in?
Thanks for the video!
Any recommendations for cutting the holes without a drill? What about homemade netcups or alternatives to rockwool?
Thanks again!
ive used plastic dixie cups that i cut with an x-acto knife, its not pretty, but it works
I don't see why food safe dish washing sponges cut up wouldn't work. Dollar store or pound shops. Once the roots drop out the bottom the sponge only helps to support it.
Pebbles or round stones from the beach, boiled for a short while to clean and sterilize is good to place on top for extra support. Marbles or ornamental stones work two.
You can also purchase locally, 2" round plant pots, just cut out or drill out carefully lots of holes around the bottom and bottom sides.
Hope this helps. I also like looking for easy to find alternatives rather than relying on specialized equipment 🙂👍 especially when hard to find or overpriced.
Oh, mulsh or peat moss works to, especially if there's no circulation pump.
Us Nams love their henny !!
Henny by the case, that's how I roll LOL
Have you ever made any video on strawberries?
Thank you for sharing! Is it necessary to use the tent and artificial light if there’s sunlight and space outside?
Nope, completely up to you!
Hi Khang, what do you think about an aquarium pump to bubble the water in the container?
It works it’s called Dwc
Do you sell your pepper seeds?
Hey Khang, can i send you pictures of a pepper plant to help with ID? Where can i send them? I give details about the plant when i send the pics. Thanks, Kelly Do you have an email or website?
hallo Khang, i love your video and inspired me to grow hot pepper. i lived in jakarta indonesia. all my plants using hydroponics system. 1st month till 2nd month all plants looks very great. but in the 3rd month suddenly I lost 80 % of my hot pepper. the plant lost all the leaves and finnaly die. do you have any video about hot pepper desease? thanks
It's hard to say because I don't know the details of your grown. Is it non-circulation, or DWC?
@@KhangStarr hi thanks for the reply. I.m using DWC. today i have to let go half of my plants before they infect to another plants. So sad
Did I miss the temperature of the room in which you keep these plants? I live in Texas and it's a struggle to keep any room below 75F
We have had great weather these past few months. My garage is around 80-87F. I will get over 90s soon.
Wasn't expecting a hole-saw how-to
Hi there,
I am using masterblend fertiliser..but after mixing i am having residue in the bottom of my tank..
Can you please advise me o what i am doing wrong?
Thank u
You have to shake it and make every particle is fully dissolved and you should be good to go
Do you have to treat or prepare the rockwool prior planting the seeds?
They’re PH neutral. Soak em and plant
If I understand, the rock wood stayed covered until the seeds spouted, correct? Also, how long did you leave the grow light on for the germination process? Thanks for creating this video without soil.
I left the light on 10 hrs per day because I have other plants in there. Seeds need very little light to sprout, but they need light as soon as they sprouted, so it's a good idea to just leave them under light to prevent them from being leggy.
Thanks Khang!
Hey khang star. Those lights look a little bit weak. Would you like to try one of our spectre phaser veg lights?
If you think this is weak, I'd love to see your light. Could you provide links?
Khang Starr www.spectreled.com
Email me from the web. I’ll send you a free light.
Alright Guyz~!!
Do you ever use masterblend?
Yes, I used it many times and still have some.
What did you use to stir the nutes in the big container, Khang? I need to find something longer and stronger than chopsticks in my 5 gallon pail. LOL
That's a pvc pipe pre-cut at Home Depot =)
@@KhangStarr Good to know. BTW, you might want to tell people to like and subscribe to your channel so the youtube algorithm will bring more viewers. :)
You didnt add anymore nutrients ? Just 1 bucket all the way ?
do u ever upload any videos of your plants bigger than tiny little plants in tiny containers? seems like you don't give your plants any space for roots or much vegetative space on top of the totes so I'd like to see how they actually turn out if they ever have turned out before. does hydro food even taste good with only feeding with chemicals since nobody really grows with organic matter with hydro. have you ate anything you have grown?
Dang wish I would’ve watch this before I did my ghetto setup
Can you show the cost to power the grow lights during the entire process?
Led bulbs have practically no cost to run.
There are calculators online.
They add very very little to your bill, you won’t even notice them
Can you write the web page, software or link,please...thancks
Agree with all the above response. Running these lights 10 hrs a day will not add much to your electric bill. I don't have the exact cost, but I don't notice a big jump and I've been doing it for over 6 yrs.
Those hidden harvest lights are the truth!!! I gotta figure a way to get away from these T5s for sure
Please sir, these hydroponic crops, are they organic or not?
Not organic.
Khang Starr Do you think that hydroponic crops are good to the body? I mean health-wise!
meng sengheang I think you’ll be good.
Why do you grow in soil if hydroponic is easier and yields faster results?
If you want to try one of our lights contact me on IG @spectreled
If Khang sees this he will like it
hey khang your videos are ace keep up all your hard work ....i was wondering if you could check my videos out on my grow on my chanel and let me no if i can do any think diffrent any help would be appricated many thanks
