    Cant imagine the effort required to eliminate such a pretty pepper plant Khang! Yet the patience you always offer to your plants and the great attention to detail as you explain your method and process are really the reason I so look forward to your videos. Plus you have come up with some very interesting crosses as your videos show. Still about 3 months up this way for warm weather plants. Ahh, but inside life anew is doubled cupped already. -Bob...

    Very well made! Perfect crossing technique. :O) Yes, the babies (seed) are the ones that show the combination of the two plants F1. If both parents are OP (8th generations +), the hybrid will be consistent. F2s are where the diversity is and the fun generation!

    good idea on the ziplock bag in the aerogarden. Didn't think of doing that. Would like to try a pepper in the aerogarden but need to wait for temps to get higher cuz it gets too cold at night in the house. I could move it to my grow room where it stays in low 60s. Not sure if that would be warm enough though. Maybe it's warm enough for Rocoto?

    • @iwant.a.pepper
      @iwant.a.pepper 5 лет назад +1

      Gapeys Grub Hola my friend, I’m growing Manzanos and have two plants doing well out here and it’s been in the low 50’s the last two weeks. They are not producing flower buds but they are nice and green and have survived a good trim already. I specifically started them late fall because I’ve read they do well in lower temps and I wanted to test that theory... so I’m sure they would do great in temps in the low 60’s

    • @gapey
      @gapey 5 лет назад +2

      @@iwant.a.pepper but what temp did they germinate at? I may give some a try and see what happens. Did you scar the seed or soak it in anything before planting?

    • @iwant.a.pepper
      @iwant.a.pepper 5 лет назад

      Gapeys Grub I would say they were germinated in temps around 70F or lower. I’m not exactly sure because I did them in the ziplock baggie method and warped the baggie in a towel that I left in my growbox with a light bulb (32w=100w). I soaked them in water for 24hrs before putting them in the baggie. Once they sprouted, which took 11 days, I grew them in 12oz cups until they had about six true leaves, 3 sets... then started leaving them outside to harden off. By this time the outside temps were about 70 during the day and low 60’s at night. So they were about 8 weeks old before the temps started to drop to the low 50’s at night and the mid 60’s in the day. Sorry if I can’t tell you more exactly but I hope this kind of gives you an idea

  • @slimepig

    ok. so was getting some pollen from a pepper flower knocking it onto some black plastic. thought i was getting alot until it started to move. lil bitty tiny white things popped out of the flower. the plant is very healthy lookin and even has a few pods. looked all over the leaves and saw nothing, but lots of lil white crawly thingys come out of the flowers. what are these and how to get rid of them? dont have a macro lens, so they wouldnt show up in any photo i could take, they that small. btw, i did have some fungus gnat trouble a week er so ago but i remedied that with h2o2.

  • @ISeeFurther
    @ISeeFurther 5 лет назад

    Awesome video as always. Just a couple question. Once you're successful and you have F1 seeds, is there any guarantee/way of knowing what traits you'll get or is it just a matter of trying several crosses until one has what you want?
    Also if you manage to get one with the traits you want, do you simply get the seeds from the new fruit or will the traits be "lost" in the next generation? I read that commercial F1 seeds grow for one generation only and the next generation usually lose the traits of the parent f1 plants. I was wondering if it's the same in your case..

    On the plants with 3 or 4 duplicate crosses, did you grow out seeds from all 4 fruits, and did the F1 plants all look the same and their resulting fruit have the same phenotypes? You mentioned in this video at 22:24 that that larger particular fruit "is a good specimen to get seeds from" was there a reason you mentioned that as I'm guessing all seeds from all fruit as an F0 will be the same and it would be too early to try to get certain phenotypes. Just not sure what you meant by that being an ideal specimen.
