I miss the 2000s, no one makes awesome games like this anymore.

@Dauntless Warrior now shareholders run companies. Games outside the norm are a risk and therefore could lead to a loss, and thus new IPs are few and far between, and anything different and outside the norm get axed. PS2 was the golden era and we didn't even know it. Corporations fucked it for us all
Beat em up games like this don't allow companies to make too much money with microtransactions, that's why this genre died. Same for local co-op games in general. PS2 was the last "pure" platform... Pick Rockstar as an example. They were releasing new games yearly pretty much, but now they just focus on GTA Online and release a game per decade pretty much.

On "Test Your Might" you can press all the four buttons (square, tri, X and O). It helps on boss fighting
Its awesome how the Mortal Kombat Armageddon main menu theme was a level theme instead of the actual theme

Damn my child hood aged well😄 me and my brother ATE SLEPT and BREATHED this game for like 3 year's off and on we beat it so many times we heat warped 2 disks from playin em too much lol

I just wish vs mode had a tower version tbh. It sucks you can't play as Cage, Kitana, Baraka and Reptile by yourself. I loved playing as Reptile vs my friends and cousins.

Fun fact: at the test your might you could mash all 4 buttons on your controller and the bar would go up like crazy 😜 all the way to the top so u could pass virtually everytime.
I remember as a kid complaining how there was only 4 playable characters in single player mode. Don't get me wrong I love playing as all 4 of them and this game was always fun to play out of all the Mortal Kombat games. Kung Lao was always my favorite in single player. Liu Kang, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero were really fun too, but I wished they added more playable single player characters, cause my favorite Mortal Kombat character in general is Raiden. Kitana is my favorite female character. She's available in Versus mode when you unlock her, but it would've been more sweeter to have more playable characters in single player mode.
I always find Sub-Zero as the hardest character to use in the story mission.
I miss this game, I passed it more than 20 times! 😭😭💜

Bad thing about this game is that you get waaaaaay too much EXP during the game, especially when you're playing as Sub-Zero and Scorpion. I remember grinding combos to increase the amount of EXP gained but by the middle of the game you can already max out Liu Kang and Kung Lao (they have more combos and specials than Sub-Zero and Scorpion).

imagine this with the main cast as playable characters.
Cheat engines let you play as the Vs Mode characters already. But other characters break the game since they don't have fatalities, so I don't think you can bypass the first fatality stage...

Did you know that during the test your might phases you can mash cross, circle, square, and triangle?
That really saved my ass back then. An older friend of mine would watch me struggling with these mingames so eventually he just approached and tried pressing X and O simultaneously. Things got much easier, I tell you that.
I had a magazine on this game and they didn't even mention this. They also never mentioned Ermac and Mileena as secret bosses, nor the location for all coins. Hell, the cheat code to unlock Sub-Zero, Scorpion and MK2 would have been great but nah, didn't have that either.
At least it had Smoke Missions and where to find Vs Mode characters, but damn, it had so many typing mistakes lol some of the fatalities were wrong/missing buttons.
Overall, great stuff. Magazines really made you appreciate the games much more. Now you can easily search on RUclips so your struggles usually don't last too long. And saying this really makes me feel like a boomer lmao
Really, how can people beat the late game Test Your Might minigames without the other buttons? RIP 'X' button.
I always liked how character switches stances after each attack. Way ahead of its time.

tekken tag is awesome. the graphics on PS2 still holds up today for being 18 yrs old released in 2000. I still have my copy and play it. Law, Eddy are my go to characters. Haha.

To bad sub zero and scorpion doesn’t have that many moves, upgrades, and their own move sets, also lots of fatalities. Well🤷🏾♂️...... Mabye in the remake or Shaolin Monks 2 that WILL be out.

OK, it's been about a year. I'm retracting what I said, alright? Probably don't care, but I'm still doing it. I haven't played the game in about 10 years, now, and I barely remember the OST.
This soundtrack was used in Shaolin Monks first because Shaolin Monks came out before Armageddon.
