      @@thule666 A Boy and His Dog was first and it was definitely influential(Fallout borrows heavily from it), but Road Warrior is more of an action-adventure movie. ABAHD is more of a weirdo counterculture 70's road movie.

    What a great discovery Mel Gibson was. He was just dropping off a friend at the Max Max auditions and ended up getting the lead role! Very cool.

      an Epic master in many ways. all stunts were real NO cgi in this movie. the stunt guys made their own rides and they hauled azz - muscle car lovers indeed.
      saw this in the theater upon release - the audience left quietly that night thinking about how this could really happen in the future. Nordstream anyone?

    Not enough can be said about Dog. He was handled so well. Knowing to calm down in the arms of Mel at the end of this scene

      Blue Heelers are highly trainable. Thirty minutes with a trainer and Mel Gibson and he'd be trained.
      Reportedly, the dog was rescued from a kill shelter before the movie was shot. 🤔 Worked out well, if it's true.

      @@LiamScanlanblue heelers are also a pain in the ass to raise and train as well. I had one long ago. I’ll never get one again. Very moody dogs and endless barkers, they cannot for the life of them settle down and just hang out. Even when I’m just trying to relax it still wants insane amounts of attention, almost to the point of over neediness. I couldn’t stand it personally. These dogs are made to be on wider environments and I had a small home at the time.

    This is the one and only Mad Max film for me. It embodies everything this franchise was supposed to be - raw, brutal and harsh, with just a bit of humanity coming through from time to time so the story can be told.

      Their arrow-handling, though, is careless, could actually go wrong around all those people and is exactly what got that "arrow through the head" prank often found at novelty stores--a fluke that created an actual victim when someone's finger slipped off the bow, it also started a small business in humor.

    I love how later in the movie the female guard who insulted him later apologizes to Max, saying "I was wrong about you, I'm sorry" and he just turns his back on her, basically saying "I don't need your damn apology woman."

      But she wasn't wholly wrong about him. He was pretty ruthless and you don't need a backstory between this and the first to deduce that he'd probably had to do a lot of things that he was ashamed about in order to survive. This is a story of redemption, after all.

      Well seeing even as in part 1 how bad Toecutter and his gang were. And how much worse Wez and the other dogs were. They knew nothing about Max. Or knew nothing about the gang that had arrived just a few weeks before Max. And.... Who wore almost exactly the same uniforms and rode around in simular cars. And who knows what else they had seen. Besides gasoline being the most valuable thing in their world at that time.

      I actually enjoyed fury road. Now obviously I still love the original 3 better but fury road, if you try and give it a chance, definitely is a good watch. Also maybe give the black and chrome version a try, it’s a black and white version of the movie but it really does do something special for it.

      Fury Road was way better than Thunderdome will ever be. I'd go so far as to say it's better than the first Mad Max movie. It goes Road Warrior, Fury Road, Mad Max, Thunderdome. It is known.

    Mad Max was a modern spin on the story of Christ. A man of principal and ethics despite life taking a s*** in his hand, constantly facing persecution, and drawing bad karma on his foes. He was divinely protected.

      After watching this movie a zillion tines it just occurred to me why would the leader even send women out on a suicide mission like that with all those able bodied men hanging around always. Even that simp boy that's all distraught that she died, well if she meant so much to him he should have gone out and let her stay in the compound.

      Late reply, but the most common color in apocalypse will be white, if fabric crops are grown. Having dyed clothing will be a luxury, so could be that these are just brand new clothes, especially considering how out of date they look.

    There is no way in well I'd leave that compound to scavenge for a transporter.
    The Humongous rules the Wasteland.
    He would know where one is.
    They would have just been better off giving him protection fuel and keeping their numbers and especially warriors at high levels.
    The compound leader was a joke.
