Out of all 4 mad max movies, Road Warrior is my favorite.
Women greeting you with cross-bows in your face is a lot like being married, really.

Road Warrior is the ultimate post-apocalyptic adventure movie. The standard by which all others are measured.

@@thule666 A Boy and His Dog was first and it was definitely influential(Fallout borrows heavily from it), but Road Warrior is more of an action-adventure movie. ABAHD is more of a weirdo counterculture 70's road movie.
What a great discovery Mel Gibson was. He was just dropping off a friend at the Max Max auditions and ended up getting the lead role! Very cool.
an Epic master in many ways. all stunts were real NO cgi in this movie. the stunt guys made their own rides and they hauled azz - muscle car lovers indeed.
saw this in the theater upon release - the audience left quietly that night thinking about how this could really happen in the future. Nordstream anyone?

Not enough can be said about Dog. He was handled so well. Knowing to calm down in the arms of Mel at the end of this scene
Blue Heelers are highly trainable. Thirty minutes with a trainer and Mel Gibson and he'd be trained.
Reportedly, the dog was rescued from a kill shelter before the movie was shot. 🤔 Worked out well, if it's true.
@@LiamScanlanblue heelers are also a pain in the ass to raise and train as well. I had one long ago. I’ll never get one again. Very moody dogs and endless barkers, they cannot for the life of them settle down and just hang out. Even when I’m just trying to relax it still wants insane amounts of attention, almost to the point of over neediness. I couldn’t stand it personally. These dogs are made to be on wider environments and I had a small home at the time.
This is the one and only Mad Max film for me. It embodies everything this franchise was supposed to be - raw, brutal and harsh, with just a bit of humanity coming through from time to time so the story can be told.
You need to watch Fury Road. It's amazing.

@@MU-TH-UR Nonsense. They are both good in their own rights, and compliment each other perfectly. Fury Road is a masterpiece.
Their arrow-handling, though, is careless, could actually go wrong around all those people and is exactly what got that "arrow through the head" prank often found at novelty stores--a fluke that created an actual victim when someone's finger slipped off the bow, it also started a small business in humor.
Brian May is the man behind the sound track, it is despair and malevolence rolled into one. Its a masterpiece
The soundtrack for this movie is indeed special. Every moment is defined by an iconic piece of music. The timing, the notes, all part of a grand masterpiece.
Just to clarify for others, it's Brian May the composer, not Brian May from Queen, I've heard people thinking its the same guy.
They think Max is a crack-head because of his story about how he ran out of gas and if they could hook him up over his bringing back their half-dead buddy he'd be down with the cause.
This was the first mad Max movie I saw and I was completely blown away!!! Some things must have the right timing and this was definitely one! My life was never the same!

The road to Valhalla is closed to you until you've watched Fury Watch.
I love how later in the movie the female guard who insulted him later apologizes to Max, saying "I was wrong about you, I'm sorry" and he just turns his back on her, basically saying "I don't need your damn apology woman."
Honestly he was probably just playing with cool and smooth, if things had gone better with the tanker chase, who knows maybe ol Maxie would probably be balls deep in her later that very evening
Yeah, but honestly, I think they would've made a good pair.
But she wasn't wholly wrong about him. He was pretty ruthless and you don't need a backstory between this and the first to deduce that he'd probably had to do a lot of things that he was ashamed about in order to survive. This is a story of redemption, after all.

Is what I think every time the clerk tries to sell me a special offer of chocolate with coke or tries to convince me for new BS credit cards, after a long queue of people who use the gas station as a grocery store.

Well seeing even as in part 1 how bad Toecutter and his gang were. And how much worse Wez and the other dogs were. They knew nothing about Max. Or knew nothing about the gang that had arrived just a few weeks before Max. And.... Who wore almost exactly the same uniforms and rode around in simular cars. And who knows what else they had seen. Besides gasoline being the most valuable thing in their world at that time.
He was lucky they even let him go at all. They thought he was one of Humungus's guys sent as a ploy to see the inside of the compound.
I saw this film when it was released. I would have been 10 or 11.
One of my favourite films.
Also one that has disturbed me quite a bit.
If one of the crew looks like Sinead O' Connor with long hair and football equipment you need to get the fuck out of there.
'Dog' is my favorite character in a movie full of great characters.

It’s cool that so many people the world over get to see just a small slice of Syd Heylen’s fine work.
The guy on the table died of an oxygen overdose but we all know who'll get the blame.
So glad my dad had movies like this on for me when growing up in the early 2000s, I always love Mel, his movies, and his cute dog in this one 😅
The Old Man took us to see "Grizzly" and other edgy shit at the time Mother would have never allowed; we also got a ride in an ultra-light (that we can talk about now but were expected to be quiet about that one so we were).
Mad Max 2 is my favorite of the trilogy.
It's the only one featuring a guy with a unibrow.

I realize it's a nasty world there but I never liked the people in the compound. Remind me too much of people I know. One of the greatest movies ever though.

I agree. Fury Road was disappointing.
I actually enjoyed fury road. Now obviously I still love the original 3 better but fury road, if you try and give it a chance, definitely is a good watch. Also maybe give the black and chrome version a try, it’s a black and white version of the movie but it really does do something special for it.
Fury Road was way better than Thunderdome will ever be. I'd go so far as to say it's better than the first Mad Max movie. It goes Road Warrior, Fury Road, Mad Max, Thunderdome. It is known.

Mad Max was a modern spin on the story of Christ. A man of principal and ethics despite life taking a s*** in his hand, constantly facing persecution, and drawing bad karma on his foes. He was divinely protected.
No offense, but he also struck me as being more of a Moses or an Abraham.

After watching this movie a zillion tines it just occurred to me why would the leader even send women out on a suicide mission like that with all those able bodied men hanging around always. Even that simp boy that's all distraught that she died, well if she meant so much to him he should have gone out and let her stay in the compound.

It's nice to know that even after civilization falls, and despite having to live in barren deserts, we will still be able to wash and keep our scavenged clothes whiter than white! Just as those TV commercials from the distant past guaranteed they would!
Late reply, but the most common color in apocalypse will be white, if fabric crops are grown. Having dyed clothing will be a luxury, so could be that these are just brand new clothes, especially considering how out of date they look.

There is no way in well I'd leave that compound to scavenge for a transporter.

They would have just been better off giving him protection fuel and keeping their numbers and especially warriors at high levels.
The compound leader was a joke.
Humongous should have traded with them. His band of marauders couldn't have run the refinery. He could have had a never ending supply of fuel.
