I understand what you're saying, but I found assertive uncompromising refusal to engage with them is better, because otherwise they can actually really get off on the sense that you fear them, and hence they'll tend to continue to hound you for longer.
These are overt narcissists. It’s the covert ones you really have to look out for. They are very insidious and passive aggressive. That last one is a maniac.
Don't forget Communal Narcissists. The worst kind imo. They love to find a group consensus so they can hide behind "strength in numbers". Any criticism is neysayed usually by other members of the group. It's literal cult stuff to deal with these types!

Overt, covert narc. is nothing compared to a Malignant Narcissist. In other words "The Dark Triad." Those types of narcissists are a bleep on the radar compared to Malignant narc. A malignant narcissist is a psychopath and they are very sadistic. A covert or overt or any other type of narc. would be in way over their head attempting to manage a malignant narcissist.

I had 5 miscarriages. The way she talks so glibly about 7 abortions is very, very sad and disturbing. Because of a medication called DES given to my mother for all 4 pregnancies in the 1960s simply because she was over 30, we all had varying degrees of malformations of our plumbing so to speak. It was later found that the drug did nothing to prevent miscarriage so we were basically human guinea pigs. my wonderful gynecologist explained to me when I was 16 that I might have trouble getting pregnant and carrying full term and that's exactly what happened. So I was somewhat prepared when the doctor would get a heartbeat at around 4 to 6 weeks and we would be elated, but the next appointment there would be nothing. It was still emotionally painful. Ironically, the 2 pregnancies I had following a course of Clomid that was derived from DES the month before conception I carried full term after 18 weeks of bed rest. We were blessed with a healthy boy and 3 years later, a healthy girl. 🙏🏻 Thank you Lord!! ✨🙏🏻✨

Narcissism awareness has blown up so much over the last decade that very prideful/self centered people are calling themselves narcissists when they're not. NPD is soooooo much more than that.

Will they never take blame for the repercussions of their own actions? If you answered yes to these questions, you might just have a narcissist in your life.
Yep!! And I might add, any time I tried to ever bring up anything, I couldn’t even get 3 words in and I’d hear “chop chop, pitter patter, get in with it”.. drove me mad!! It got so bad that I’d start to stutter cuz I couldn’t even form a thought.. if I shut down, I got “why you being weird”.. if I snapped out and got mad, I got “see you just love drama”..

I found myself ALWAYS apologizing for my reaction and never ever ever got to say anything about what bothered me.. I only got ridiculed for feeling how I did about his actions..
It really does suck.. cuz now, after 5 years of that, I trust no one and barely leave the house cuz I always feel like nothing I ever do or say is gonna be good enough, so I’d rather just be alone.. very depressing

This is my husbands sister! She insults me, tells me I’m too sensitive, talks about her pretty her feet were her hair….they used to call her the body! I t gets very old! I never noticed it much when she was younger but now that she is old she thinks she is beautiful, so smart etc. She is not very intelligent! She s mean and has really screwed up her daughter. She blames her ex husband (who maybe saw her daughter twice) for the genes he gave her,not her poor parenting! She is a mean woman yet will tell anyone what a nice person she is! Btw, she is 72!

We are not at fault here and have to learn to respect ourselves. I completely understand what you have experienced.

God that is so true, 10yrs and I've just see him for what he is, only now. I'm a shell of myself and so isolated, I do struggle to stay away for good. It's taken me to the point of s*icide last month, I'm now slowly seeing things for how they are, it's scary how people say they love someone yet some sick pleasure out of mentally torturing that person.
When Facebook first came out, I said, “nothing good with come of this. Bad humans will become worse”. My friends, my family thought I was nuts. Here we are. Never had a social media account, never will.

What I’ve found that is the root of narcissism is THEY CAN’T HANDLE SHAME! So they often harmlessly hide away, or harmfully turn it back on the other person / partner
In my experience with my family members who are Narcissists they become to toxic to be around and end up being incredibly lonely because of their behaviour.

I really needed to see this now. I’m in the middle of separating from my partner who I believe has narcissistic traits & I can relate so much of what I’m hearing here to him. That guy saying he sees the damage his caused in the home as trophies! Wow.. I’m honestly not even mad at that- I’m appreciative of his honesty. This makes a lot of sense now why there’s been a fist sized hole in my kids door for over a year that’s never even been considered to be fixed by who did it. It’s a possibility he likes seeing it there I guess. Just blows my mind; but also makes me feel like I’m doing the right thing by leaving. Wish me luck Dr Phil community. ✌🏽💗🇦🇺

Narcissists have been damaged by a parent at an early age. The are severely damaged emotionally to the point they should not create families. We should give them AI companions, non senient robots that look just like people but no harm done to them.

Then I wondered why someone would take pleasure in behaving this way to someone they claim to love. I then thought about his childhood, it's not an excuse but it helps me understand.

Love it. Narcissists are not ashamed of being narcissist. They look at all their traits as strengths. Narcissists need others to provide self esteem. They need it like oxygen. The aware partner or host is really in control if they know what's going on. These ppl aren't evil. As Prof Sam Vaknin points out, a narcissist is also a victim... they have chosen a solution but they are still a victim and they turn others into victims because they like company and their comfort zone is OTHER VICTIMS. These ppl are afflicted and have no core identity... their existence is divided on me me me, not living or any kind of life about passion love and understanding. They are true modern day vampires and no matter what they say, they are miserable and frightened little children at their core whose false personality is slowly and continously absorbing all their potential and memories.
What do you mean " they aren't evil"? .. they will suck the life out of their victim forever without ever feeling remorse, when you see the damage they can inflict you couldn't possibly see it as anything else
@@tsreiki "aren't evil"... maybe he means they are possessed with an affliction they have no control over- childhood upbringing, past life experiences may have something to do with it. without proper intervention an unhealthy mindset can take over thoughts, feelings and perceptions, manifesting in destructive patterns of behaviour later in life. many don't like themselves and feel the need to be validated, often seeking attention to find comfort but are deeply tormented from within, never knowing genuine peace. in this sense they are "victims" trapped in a cycle of self-loathing. sometimes all we can do is love them from a distance, pray for their healing and move on.
@@Gracie-777 you may be right, I don't know a definitive definition of evil, I just see the effects they create in others lives and they just don't care whatsoever.. I think that is evil..I have watched a woman I know literally suck the life out of her husband and children and she has no capacity for love, only self-love with an unquenchable thirst for energy from other people.. not to mention my own experiences with my own family..which I won't go into here.. I cannot think of any other way to think of it but evil.. I admire your ability to see the drivers underneath and see it with compassion but you can never let them know that or you will be sucked into their manipulation and find your energy being tapped and you won't even realise until you're almost dead and it will all be your fault..

I was raised by someone like the third mother. The husband needs to RUN. My father has dedicated his life to my mother and you know what it's gotten him? A heart attack at 55, of which he was only allowed to take five days off because he needed to go back to his very physical job to make the money to maintain my mother. Anytime we say that my father had a massive heart attack, she'll always correct you, according to her, it was "only" a major one, not massive. My father has already buried one of children, whom almost died without my parents at his side since my mother had to be convinced to see him in the hospital as it cut into "her" time. It's also earned him total estrangement from one child and very low contact from his remaining two kids, as we're not allowed to spend time with just him because everything must be about her. This same "mother" informed me that the wrong kid died just days after my brother's funeral, hence one of the many reasons I'm no contact. You can never make people like this happy, and you'll be left a shell of who you were. RUN AWAY.
