      As great as this final fight, I feel like Odin’s fight could have been more epic if it was doubled in length AND had Thor alive. First phase would have been Kratos saving Thor and the two fighting Odin, second phase would be Atreus and Thrud jumping in which would lead to the original cutscene of them being locked to the ground until Freya shows up, and then it would add another layer of fighting before or after they jump into the cave. Then the mask sequence would happen and it would be a whole 5v1 against Odin who would be showing off more power than he originally did because of 2 extra opponents
      Oh yeah “Don’t forget me All-Fucker”

    This scene fucks me up. It's almost like Thor represents every human's past, all our mistakes, our self hatred, our guilt, our inability to forgive ourselves, thinking we don't DESERVE to change, to be happy, to be better. "Don't you know what I've done?!" Encapsulates that perfectly. Pair that with his alcoholism and the picture is complete. But Kratos, Kratos is our potential. Who we CAN be, who we can become. Kratos has never forgotten his past, and in many ways never forgave himself, but he recognized that HE had to be better. He had to change. And the only way to do that was to let go of all of the things, to make a choice every single moment of his life to be better. To be who he can truly be. Who we all can truly be. "What will you do now?" Is perhaps the most poignant question we can ask ourselves. We can continue to hate ourselves, to live in our guilt, to never move past our mistakes. Or, we can change. We can choose to be better. We can become who we were all truly meant to be. That's the message of Kratos' and Thor's story in my opinion.

      Well put. The story of GOW 2018 and Ragnarok was never about redemption. Kratos knows better than anyone that what he did in his past is impossible to find redemption for (quite literally. Who exactly is there left to forgive him?)
      But through his love for Atreus, he came to understand that he can learn from his past. He can move forward, and he CAN be better, even if the past can't be changed.

    Thor had no choice but to accept what Kratos was saying here. The entire game, and probably for a long time before the game, he’s been lying to himself that he’s just a destroyer. He can’t possibly be anything more than what he always has been. But when he saw Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta, God of War, Destroyer of Greece, and quite possibly the most powerful god on earth tell him that they can be better. How could he disagree? If a man like Kratos can choose to be better, maybe he could as well.

    • @northstar_6585

      It because Thor chooses all the easy choices in life and doesn't fight because he has to but because Odin tricks him into thinking it is when his family tries to get him to stop drinking he relapses because tells him he liked him better when he was drunk thors father has been manipulating all the gods out of fear of his own death and it came at the sacrifice of their sanity

    This message is a lot deeper then we think it’s like Santa Monica is telling the world we must be better for our children for our future for us as people we must be better. It might be too deep too look into a game but it was a serious message that I believe was more then just some lines in a game

    I can't put into WORDS, JUST HOW BRILLIANT THIS ENTIRE SCENE IS!
    Guys... do you realize that Thor needed to hear this from KRATOS of all people to have the most effect. Even his wife, I don't think Thor's wife understands what he's been through AND know what it feels like, because his wife is not a destroyer, and thus does not have the conscience of a destroyer God.
    Even Thrud, Thrud doesn't know this.
    ONLY KRATOS knows this, and in watching KRatos, a destroyer like him, maybe worse than him, changing for the sake of his child, Thor finally heard what he needed to hear, from the ONE PERSON who understood Thor's pain, and as a result, Thor changed...
    I did an entire review highlighting so many character and psychological asp[ects of this game, which I call, THE GREATEST GAME STORY EVER TOLD that I have played.
    I invite you all to watch it and let me know what you think.

      Biggest difference is kratos had no one to talk to him. The only person that did was his wife and somewhat Athena

    • @TheBengalDragon
      @TheBengalDragon Год назад +5

      @@livinglegend9709 Athena didn't really. She had the interests of Olympus in mind, and then her interests in mind as well. That's why Kratos says she won't be Athena's monster anymore.
      His wife... she died before he came Chief Destroyer of the Gods. Back then, he only destroyed for Ares. After that, he destroyed for Athena, for the other gods, for himself, then for himself manipulated by Athena again (she enabled his vengeance for her means in GOW3).
      In this regard, Kratos has more trauma experience than Thor. At least Thor could drown his sorrow, Kratos, women an alcohol could not take away his nightmares.

    • @livinglegend9709
      @livinglegend9709 Год назад +4

      @@TheBengalDragon completely agree. that's why I said "somewhat" because Athena was hella manipulative, but at least kratos felt like she somewhat cared or at least felt she was a sister to him till he learned her motives in 3. What we need to talk about is where is she at now?😂

    This scene made me cry so hard I had to pause the game for a while. When Kratos said “no more. For the sake of our children, we must be better” I immediately called my dad and told him that I love him. He used to be a meth addict and I resented him a lot for the abuse and trauma he inflicted on me and my family. Ever since he got clean from drugs he became a whole new person and completely changed his life around and is my biggest inspiration when it comes to going through adversity and coming out stronger from it. I forgive him now for everything and I admire the man he’s become
