I get the feeling that Brok disliked ‘Tyr’ because his extreme fear of violence reminded him of his brother’s germophobia and scaredy-cat behaviour. So when Tyr suddenly decides to lead them to war against Asgard, Brok immediately suspected him.

It could also be because Brok is more perceptive than he comes off as but never brought it up until now as it would create friction within the group. "Tyr" gives signals throughout the story that he isn't being upfront about stuff but everyone sort of handwaves it away as his trauma making him act unusual. Plus, just like the consensus amongst most in the Nine Realms is to not trust Odin, who would ever question the integrity of the god known for brokering peace, pacifism, and diplomacy?

He clearly is good at this stuff, but Tyr thing was different for one big reason - Kratos wanted him to be right. Tyr being a guy who didn't want war or Ragnarok was exactly what Kratos needed, so he fell for the deception. He so desperately wanted to avoid fighting that Odin used that to his advantage.

Odin acted like he knew he’d come back, (he was right, but he still didn’t know for certain), and he didn’t allow the sword Atreus had become attached with to come with him as a way to MAKE HIM come back. (Holy Hel! 3500 likes! )The Odin reveal makes a second playthrough so satisfying. So many clues given well ahead of time. Odin was a great actor but could not hide his emotions. You can see his fear when he first finds out about the actual prophecy and how he even bumps into Loki while he goes to take a closer look. He gets so mad when he found out he was lied to about the prophecy. Then how he immediately shows contempt to Loki shortly after. The way "Tyr" and Odin keep talking about peace. How he purposely turned Loki against his father by calling him Champion with a capital C. The cinematography of Tyr walking in from the dark when Freya first suggest raising an army to Kratos when Loki first goes to Valhalla and he even tries to buy time by telling Kratos to give Loki some time. He gets mad when he finds out the gnomes stole Draupmir. Tries to dissuade Kratos from killing his valuable Heimdall. Only Tyr knew of the mask just like Odin.

the valkaries, draugr from musphelheim,Ragnarok itself,The entire army of hell,Elfs (and probably ancients since they seem to be with the elfs) just to go and face down Odin. Some of the hints we were given about his identity:
    - Kratos cutting Tyr's rope when they saved him. The way the rope is held, it looks like Tyr is being hanged. A reference to the nine days Odin spent hanging.
    - His surprise and later contempt at Loki after revealing the true prophecy.
    - He greets Freya as "Frigg". Odin's name for Freya, an attempt to bury her accomplishments and a reminder of her mistakes.
-Calling Atreus the "Champion" knowing that this is a point of contention between father and son.
    - After Atreus returns home from his first trip to Asgard, Tyr is the first one to accuse Atreus of being the one who led the Hel-Walkers back home. He didn't even bother fighting, taking up a shield to protect himself first instead.
    - Finally, his last mistake. He was too keen to agree with everyone to suddenly lead the charge to Ragnarok after an entire game of advocating for peace. His greed and impatience caused him to slack with his words: Offering a fishy miracle solution to Asgard, calling Atreus "Loki" and never releasing the mask. Brok picked up on his squirrelly bullshit and confronted him.

4:56 - "I am in control here!" I think that line is so fascinating, because of the situation as a whole. Odin has lost control of the situation by killing Brok. To be fair, the jig is pretty much up with his Tyr disguise. Brok sussing him out pretty much would probably lead to a snowball effect of him being revealed in the end anyway, so he tried to salvage it by getting the mask and killing Brok is just the cherry at the top. Being in that situation is probably a nightmare for a control freak like Odin, so him saying he's in control sounds more like a self-reassurance rather than a threat. Seeing the real prophecy probably what ticks him the most, and made him sloppy calling Atreus Loki and all that.

Will say Brok being the only one to figure out is oddly plausible given the circumstances:
    - He didn’t know Tyr was Odin, just that something was odd, and he’s always been this direct; he insults and calls-out gods on the regular
    - Everyone else greatly looked up to Tyr, that and his imprisonment explained some of his changes, basically they respected him too much to question as much.
    - Tyr’s location was given/hinted by the giants, not Odin, so the group had a non-Odin source to trust
    - The only real dramatic shift in Tyr’s character was when the mask was complete. Given Odin had just lost his chances at the mask thanks to Thor’s intruding, he’s already on edge and his excitement exceeds his patience and he breaks character for this moment to all of a sudden want to storm Asgard.
    - Again Odin is pissed he lost the mask thanks to Thor. Brok, a dwarf, smacking it out of his hands pisses him off more.
    - Odin attacks Brok out of anger and even says it wasn’t supposed to be that way, showing it was just Odin losing it.
Overall Odin’s magical and mental manipulation ensured his disguise was full-proof, but he couldn’t hide his own ego and eagerness

After all the stories Mimir has told us about Odin, this moment really shows how accurate Mimir's description of Odins traits are. "Even if you've never posed a threat before he may think that someday you might" this is exactly how Odin responds to Brok. Out of all the main characters, Brok was the one who was the most sceptical about "Tyr", so Odin took no chances and killed him immediately.

It’s funny, I noticed a few hours in that “Tyr” and Odin had eerily similar voices, but thought little of it. @Jake38nine Год назад +3

@Hunter Thompson Sindri was also the one facing getting hurt more than Brok. He was resentful that he kept giving and they wouldn't even listen to him. Even Kratos preferred Brok over him, even though Sindri gave and gave and gave. Kratos didn't really feel bad until after Brok died and he finally came to reason that not just one, but both of the two people who helped him the most were gone. He's lucky Lunda is horny for him, or else he wouldn't have anybody to use and craft for him. You notice his change. He says thank you more. He tells Lunda it's okay for her to compliment him, when before he was uncomfortable by it. And this really only began either a little before Brok died or soon after. It's the first time he's shown a great deal of emotion other than rage and contempt. That's why using a charming, conniving Odin as a mirror was so good because It's really hard not to trust Odin if nobody else is telling you how much harm he's caused. Odin was charismatic evil. Kratos is chaotic good.
I understand Sindri because it's really hard to ever come out of that grief when you lose someone who meant the world to you. You will burn bridges. Sindri is just lucky that he can cause more chaos for Kratos, and Kratos would understand why. But Kratos was also in that situation. Most people so easily see your loss and tell you to move on and let go, but when your heart is eating you from the inside out, those words only eat your brain from inside out, and all you can think of is revenge, resentment, and/or death. It's why I hold such a strong thick skull because I've put up with a lot of abuse, and my only question is, "Why?" I want to understand the other person and why they act that way. And try to explain how they hurt me and how I see it from my perspective. I've been just as hostile as Sindri before. But knowing who will accept your pain and forgive you are the real GOOD people in life. But these undertones will go over most people's heads, guaranteed because most people don't want to recognize their own wrongs, but also understand why some people are chaotic mentally. There's very few things a person could do to make me absolutely despise you and want you gone. Otherwise, I'll be trying to understand the intent behind them as a way to show a respect for reciprocation. I haven't played the post game, but I really hope they make subtle details about Kratos and Freya keeping Sindri's home tidy. Doing something for him that he could respect. It's his home that he brought them into. The least they could do is keep it clean for him.

I can imagine only about 1 in 1000 players notice this (I certainly didn't), but there's a brilliant little clue they leave you to notice Odin's falseness before the reveal. Whenever Odin is talking, the subtitles say that "Tyr" is speaking, but whenever the other characters who think it's Týr say his name, and when you meet the real Týr post game, the subtitles read "Týr". The lack of the accent on the y denotes that it isn't the real Týr.

This scene was such a rollercoaster. The way that Brok forgives Sindri is spoken as a person who doesn't want to leave without any regrets and deeply loves his brother. The way Sindri pleadingly says his name one last time and whispers "I love you..." under his breath. I missed it the first time but on subsequent watches, but it really adds another layer to how they care for each other. The musical motif that was added really slams home the tragedy and pain that is felt, and the reprise of it when they visit Sindri in the temple reinforces it. He wears the blood of his brother on his armor as a way to remember him, and a memento of the vengeance he now seeks for his death. Overall one of the two most emotional scenes in the entire game, and an absolute masterclass in storytelling and execution.

The use of music in this scene is great. First, when “Tyr” finally decides to step up and join the fight the music sounds inspirational like you’d expect from a hero’s motivational speech, but it all goes silent when Brok questions this convenient way into Asgard he never mentioned till now. After that, the music has this air of tension that “Tyr” brushes off and steers the conversation back to the plan of sneaking into Asgard, using the mask and defeating Odin. The music here sounds adventurous as everyone is getting pumped for what could be their final mission to putting an end to all this. Then, Brok interrupts again, causing the music to stop again and the tense music returns as he isn’t satisfied with “Tyr’s” excuse about the way into Asgard. This time the tense music grows as he starts questioning everything “Tyr” says and forces him into a corner and it reaches that high point with the stab and the twist and the music continues to be powerful and suspenseful throughout the hostage situation.

And it more or less crescendos when they drive off Odin and recover the mask only to go silent again before Brok's last moments then the music enters a mournful tone as Brok forgives Sindri for what he did and tells him to let go. Finally the music is this semi low tone to indicate that the hero's want to take the fight to Odin, but Kratos just feels defeated at this moment that storming Asgard is the furthest thought from his mind, only Atreus matters to him now.

Great voice acting from Judge. I love how Kratos forces himself to (kinda) stay calm while growling, "Release my son!!"

Man the delivery on the line leading up and including "release my son" is great. Chris Judge rules.

you can really see it when he tells atreas they're leaving. he isn't mad at anyone or trying to show he was right to hide in midgard all that time. he just lost his best friend and was basically saying "fuck this, I'm out.

4:55 the voice acting here is spot on! Boiling with anger and the urge to tear that god away but also wants to protect his son. If Odin laid a hand on him here, man, I can only imagine.
