Kratos didn't kill all the Greek Gods. While Aphrodite did get stuck, it wasn't with Kratos blades, she survived, or at least is never mentioned dying.. I would have thought someone with THE BIGGEST GOD OF WAR CHANNEL ON RUclips, would know that.
I love how little the Norse gods understand Kratos’ reasons for killing the Greek pantheon. Thor said that it was because they “hurt his feelings” and Odin says that he has no reason. They think Kratos was just a monster, killing the Greek gods because they taunted him or something, not because they physically and emotionally abused him for years. They even went so far as to kill him multiple times.
That's basically the perception 80% of people have about Kratos, sadly
@@brunowillich1837 And that’s ultimately what caused that 80%’s downfall.
@@brunowillich1837 And they only had to spend like... at least 8 years for them to understand?
Well think about it. The way the pantheons are separated, learning about them would be like trying to study another planet or galaxy. Ofc they’d know very little or would only know broad strokes of krato’s past. I think it makes perfect sense, and serves as an excellent tool for good storytelling
Kratos has some justification, but he has gone too, too far.
And well, he *has* killed a god for hurting his feelings. Think Hera.
He was killing and maiming so many people, that his rage was completely unjustified against. Gods who are shells of their former selves, gods who are undeserving, gods who did NOTHING against him but were understandably SCARED of him.
He killed, maimed, destroyed without second thought. Even before his journey, he didn't care about what villages he was razing. Before and After. The only village he gave a shit about was the one his wife and child were in, and he couldn't even be *arsed* to remember what it looked like.
The way Odin hesitates when Kratos threatens to go back to his old ways. He knows full well there is nothing anyone in the Norse lands can do to stop Kratos if ever he returns to form.
if something truly happened to Atreus then that would be another pantheon gone
@@maddog130 If that were happen he would have nothing left to live for which can end in 2 ways. Walking away, or going into wild rage, and burn Asgard to the ground.
Lol true. I felt like Kratos was holding back the whole time. He didnt even need an army for ragnarok. He could have solo clapped the Aesir pantheon in an afternoon 😂😂
@@linis331 like fr, weeve seen him take on titans larger than mountain's
@@maddog130 They were destined to be destroyed anyway
I really love how he breathes very deeply whenever he gets to that point of him going back to his old ways. Hes really trying to hold back as much as possible
HHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... No.
Then by the end he’s basically there, but still not quite because he doesn’t want to loose himself in a constant spartan rage.
He doesn't want to act that way because even he knows that there was many moments where he went way too far
He killed people who deserved it but he also left a lot of people dead who were innocent, his entire path of revenge became empty by the end as he had let the greek world fall into complete chaos
He doesn't see that as something to be proud of
Consider him in a batman stage. He definitely willing to kill for his friends, but if he stops holding back and goes all out he won't know who he will hurt or when he will stop
@@livinglegend9709 that's not it. he don't have mental issues that makes him killing someone is complicated like batman.
the only reason he murders the pantheon is for revenge. but now? now he has a son. a responsibility.
fighting gods 24/7?
that isn't living. he have no reason to do unnecessary kill and just wanted to live.
It still amazes how much kratos tightly holds back his past self. Literally during the first boss fight against thor, he was taunted by thor to lose himself and bring out the old kratos. He knows kratos is capable of killing monsters/titans larger than the jouthner giants but, he wants to see if those stories about kratos are true because kratos, after destroying the greek pantheon has become a boogeyman figure among other gods/pantheons.
It also shows how much his name has spread including if it spreads to a realm full of warriors who fear him such as the norse
@@thefatman8119 Well to be fair, Kratos had done everything in the book, including, but not exclusively: time travel, fighting alongside and against gods, titans, becoming a god from a mortal which was never seen before, straight up coming back from hell a couple times, falling off the edge of the world, but coming back and later literally ending all of greece.
@Levi Chicwown in Norse it’s considered honorable to kill or be killed by great warriors and since every single Norse god is a warrior they see to it that they can face him even though kratos literally killed the entire Greek pantheon
As if he is superman holding back every time.
There is probably no god in any pantheon that can defeat Kratos at this point.
Odin asks Kratos if he knows what it is like to be worshipped but he knows. He was the god of war of Ares for a while in the Greek pantheon and the other gods feared his power.
Isn’t that still belief technically?
Odin was just trying to manipulate Kratos.
he was feared as a god of war. Only loved by Spartan warriors. Odin was referring to be worshipped out of love and gratitude, a goal that Kratos saw that his wife saw for him.
Ye, It's a pity they didn't expand on the dialogue, Kratos could have put a few words there for Odin, and a slap maybe 😆
@@ZanarGaming I was hoping for a Spartan bitch slap.
“I paid back their blood a thousand times, and burned Olympus to the ground” holy fuck this is one of the best voice acting lines in the game
It’s cool because it’s true he burned Olympus to the ground
And he really does say it like he wears it as a badge of honor.
And it sounds like he doesnt regret it
@@xeox4280he doesn’t regret that. He regrets the innocents he killed, family and friends included.

Because most of the character's face are based on their VAs' face. It will fit quite perfectly.
still a little shakey about Odin. When thinking about Odin i picture someone with a deeper voice, a bit thicker bod, and more imposing. Not a skinny Steve Buscemi working as a traveling salesman.
@@Zoras88 The reason I like this Odin so much is for that exact reason. He feels imposing in a different way than what is expected. Through mystery and seemingly over-confidence rather than “I look strong and am strong”. I tend to enjoy dissonance in what is otherwise convention when it comes to video games though, so it may just be that.
@@Zoras88 but see that’s the thing though. The magic and power Odin practiced was considered womanly magic some also relied on deceit and such. He wasn’t the type to actually use hand to hand combat thus it makes sense why he looks how he does. Most depictions showing him as strong are wrong. The only reason he wasn’t labeled as a coward is bc he was also extremely strategic and good at conquest when it came to war. If you imagine Odin as someone muscular and physically strong you’re not thinking of him correctly.
@@Zoras88 skinny, old man Odin is cool. We already had the muscular, old man archetype in Zeus.
To anyone that didn't play the past games, Kratos was deeply loved by his soldiers when he was a general, and still deeply loved when he became the God of War (even tho he had little time to be revered before Zeus killed most of Sparta, and then Kratos killed the rest of Greece during his climb lol)
Yes, just one thing: Kratos was indeed worshipped and loved by the Spartans, but the rest of Greece most definitely did not love him, he was feared by everyone except the Spartans. That's why Kratos gets emotional when he sees the prophecy of him being universally truly worshipped by love and not fear

I love that Freya, ocne she learns what happened to his previous family and what made him what he is, she can't even imagine it because it is literally 10 or 100 times worse than what happened to her and the fact he understands her fully too, just made her grow as a person so much quicker than Kratos, because Kratos had no one to take them out of the path of vengeance, Freya literally had the ebodiment of what Vengeace does to a man right in front of her.
Yep Freya was quite lucky to have Kratos be an example for her. Because if not, she was ready to go on her own campaign of vengeance. Kratos, as we know, had no companions or party members to keep him company or be his morality chain. His journey was a lonely one. When you're in a dark place, friends are essential for keeping things in perspective. Kratos had no such luck. And even when he did, they were taken from him quickly.

Don't think Mimir, Atreus, or Freya would believe the Poseidon fight. Or Chronos, albeit for different reasons.

5:17 that line gave me chills
I really wished kratos answered Odin with “tell the gods of Olympus that”
hurr durr
What's funny about Norse gods is that they only know Kratos killed and destroyed Olympian and their gods but they don't know why Kratos destroyed Olympus or about his backstory.
That's because it's personal information; not the kind of thing that gets passed down through stories.
Does “the why” really need to be important? The Norse gods just know he’s capable of ending an entire pantheon if he’s so much as looked at funny.
I wouldn’t want him anywhere near my homeland either if that were the case. What’s worse is again, Kratos would be justified in his actions against them.
Baulder picked a fight with him. Hunted him and his son down.
Thors sons threatened and chased them down.
Odin wanted Atreus as a pawn/tool.
At least in Greece Kratos could take a little responsibility for the wrongs he committed in some situations. He was hot headed and bitter.
Here in the Nine realms he’s fighting to keep his child safe. So he doesn’t have to go through the pain of loosing another child. Imagine how he feels seeing Atreus grow up and wishing Caliope could’ve had that chance at life. The demons he still sleeps with knowing he’s the one who took her life.
@@johnnynunez1843 and he only took her life because he was essentially brainwashed into doing so. He only realized what he had done after it was too late
@@johnnynunez1843 not necessarily important. But, they need to know Kratos is nothing like Aesir gods and there is a proper reason he destroyed Olympus. Thor, Freya and Odin act like Kratos is just a random monster god who just killed entire pantheon for fun.
@@rohanbhai909 at least by this point, freya is the only one who knows why kratos destroyed Olympus, and mimir essentially said they must’ve had it coming, which is technically true
For me, this prove that Greek pantheon especially zeus is more powerful than odin and Nordic gods, Freya mentioned there's no such magic like that on Nordic or someone capable of doing that, plus mimir said if odin knew this magic they are gonna fked up even worse than before
Zeus is more powerful in power and strength. Odin is far more dangerous, as he is manipulative and smarter, not counting his magic far superior of Zeus, or any Greek God.
It's pretty evident just by reading a bit about the Greek Pantheon and the tales surrounding them that the Greek Gods are in fact stronger. The Greek Mythos after all is more "metal"
Greek civilization was more advanced in general compared to Norse so it fits
@@nickpesetsky1897 while the Greek gods live in a paradise of bountiful gardens, marble floors, golden statues of heroes and maiden, great white pillars while the Norse gods living in a glorify Ikea hut village.
How I understand it is;
The Greek Gods were far stronger, but the Norse ones are much, MUCH smarter. Because they have to be.
The Norse Gods KNOW they can be killed and actively avoid it.
But in mythology AND GOW: The Greek Gods don't believe that's possible until it's too late.
I love how Kratos was walking towards Thor after the first fight right when Thor was taking off. He was ready to keep going lol
As someone who’s never played any of the GoW games, when Mimir mentions “traveling to the past to win a battle once lost” sounded like he was talking about respawning
Edit: also I love how scared of Kratos and trepidatious odin is around him constantly
Its when he fight that giant creature that had portals in GOW PS2 i think, he really travelled to the past
It is from gow 2. I'd recommend watching the cutscenes from all the previous games. They go hard
It's from GoW2, where Kratos was betrayed and killed by Zeus. He then went back in time to fight against Zeus and defeat him.
In god of war 2 kratos gets killed, his soul attached to the realm of the living because he was too angry to die, he found the fates and used their power to time travel to the battle he was killed and avoided death, then he time travelled again to the first great war to take the Titans and time travel with them to the present , were he procceded to invade Olympus with an army of Titans, this is the betrayal he spoke about with freya, before that Ares the greek god of war tricked kratos into killing his family so he would become the perfect weapon, kratos swore revenge on Ares, this path made him the new god of war
guys it's a joke
Odin saying "I want peace as much as you do" while framed by two spears is pretty perfect.
You can see in odin's face and voices as kratos says "you may meet the god i once was" odin was a bit scared and worried for a second as he knows he can destroy everything odin has if he pushes kratos over the edge to become that.
The voice acting and facial from the designers worked wonders on this to make it look amazing and really put what they are saying in motion and fear in their faces is just brilliant this has to be game of the year for all that as not just a brilliant story all other like voices sound and graphics are top notch.
I agree but it’s not facial designers it’s mocap. Meaning the emotion you see coming through Kratos’s face is Christopher Judge. They only voice certain parts of the game the rest is filmed in a stage building then they just put the game models over them
@@TrippyStefTV Yea i see the suit's and cameras on their heads looking at the face acting it out really cool how it comes together but sure some designers work on it in touchup to make it more alive as seen a pre build test and the characters are bare with no hair or skin tone just gray so the designers sure do a lot of extra work and need to be acknowledged for their good work they did.
As Well as the actors/voice actors as the first god of war it was Christopher Judge first time acting out in scenes like that in the whole suit mocap style same with the kid they both did great work acting as it is movie level work fit for a film really.
Did you saw the game Awards? It's ELDEN RING !
But for the two games were worthy.
GOW Ragnarok and ELDEN RING
Alot of the Gods were scared of Kratos, even Zeus was. But the Norse Gods weren't really. I don't get why people say Odin is scared even though he never cared about fighting Kratos.
@@jatman9556 because people like to overestimate Kratos. they'll make up all the excuses as to why Kratos doesn't just kill everyone and everything. truth is Kratos needed help to kill Odin and Odin frankly would prefer not to get his hands dirty. so they settle on Odin being scared. he's not. he just hates variables he can't control because he is a control freak and Kratos doesn't play to his tune.
4:57 gotta love how he makes fun of him for not having metaphor in his land when you know damn well he gets the reference (pandora was a literal key)
Metaphor is also a greek word that kratos would definitely understand
i also noticed that too
From the dialogues we can say that greek mythology was more powerful than Norse myth. The way mimir ask about greek god power that can manipulate anything and the way freya shock with the power of sisters of fate and the way when the Norse god dead there is no consequences, when Poseidon dead there is big flood when helios dead no more sunlight and when hades dead all soul was free
When Hermes died pestilence spread, plus to think that Kratos single-handedly killed a Titan far larger and more powerful than the giants of Norse, that's already different news
Well Baldurs death actually creates a similar affect. When he died it triggered fimbulwinter across all nine realms. But nothing happened to the realms when thor and Odin died. In fact the realms were better off. I guess they forgot about the whole “there are consequences to killing a god” thing
@@laningsmith9163 that minor thing I dissapointed about GoW Ragnarok, its like they forget the whole point kratos try to teach atreus about "there are Consequences to killing a god"
@@laningsmith9163 no the only consequence was from killing Buldur , and the reason for fumblewinter is because of the protection spells that Freya put on him. The spell was using magic tied to the nine realms and once it was broken, the balance was thrown off.
Baldur’s death caused Fimbulwinter and Atreus’ near death in GoW 2018 is confirmed to be what caused that crazy red storm. The GoW Norse Gods are similar in power they just can’t manually hone it to the extent that the GoW Olympians could
*Odin:* In your lifetimes, has anyone ever worshipped you? Ever prayed to you?
*All of the spartan army in GOW 2:* * Mike Wazowski Face *
Or that time a single spartan ran from destroyed sparta to being news to kratos

Actually he was worshiped when he became the god of war and he helped Sparta and the Spartans knew him as their lord

The greatest decision this franchise made is to not make Odin stronger than Zues
I mean theoretically
Odin is far more superior than Zeus.
Zeus needs Athena to strategize.
Odin has had years of conquering other realms
With no other god to help him decide what to do
@@AngelDiaz-px4kn in term of power zeus far stronger than odin
@@alkahfi8500 no doubt

@@AngelDiaz-px4kn In terms of strategizing maybe, Odin is more of a trickster and prefers no conflicts when he can just lie and manipulate his way around everything or use Thor for killing anything that can't be manipulated. The last fight shows he isn't that much of a threat if he doesn't rely on magic. Zeus is way more powerful and it kind of shows when you consider Kratos wasn't holding back then and couldn't defeat him multiple times. Both are greatly depcited but Zeus has the advantage.

Old Kratos is a watered down version of his previous self. Half because his Greek God powers were tied to the land of his realm. And half because he lost a lot of the weapons and his primary motivation -Rage.
His rage is what gave him such monstrous power in Greece. In the Norse world he still has that rage but he doesnt really give a fuck about the Gods here. He consistently does not want to fight and holds back against every single god.
Only two times did he get a little angry and one slip of his anger is what Killed Heimdall instantly. And Thor got hit harder than anything ever has and lost a tooth from just a single punch.
If Kratos completely let loose he would have murdered all of Asgard in less than the first 20 minutes of the game. Asgardian gods are not the Equal of the Olympians by far except for Thor and Odin.

I mean he killed nearly killed every Greek God (which are way stronger than the Norse) and even the Sisters of Fate which controlled time and space. The creators confirmed that Kratos grows even stronger with age. What makes them think they actually have a chance against him?
Norse gods are haunted by fate, they believe Ragnarok is the end of them and try every means to postpone it. They don’t underestimate Kratos. Instead, they are certain Kratos cannot kill them, but Kratos harness the power of destiney.
They think ragnarok protects them, they think just because they make it to ragnarok kraros would inevitably lose.
actually, considering that the Norse pantheon operates on a worldwide scale on a bad day while the Greek pantheon was confined to, well, Greece, I'd say the Aesir were significantly more powerful than the Olympians sans Kratos could ever hope to be.

This is false. The Greek and Norse Worlds are operating on different worlds- Kratos literally had to be dragged by Dimension-Hopping wolves to get pulled into the Norse Pantheon's territory.
What happened to Greece in the original God of War trilogy was happening world-wide in their Universe.
They never did tbh. The 2 games were literally GOW's version of take your son to work day 😂😂
0:51 i don't know why, but kratos' delivery of "exaggerated?" is hilarious to me
He sounds slightly offended haha
When he asked Kratos if anyone ever prayed to him they definitely did! Remember when Zeus destroyed Sparta? They all prayed for Kratos to say them.
Most people forget kratos didn’t just kill the Greek pantheon(Zeus, hades, Hera) he technically killed their predecessors (Gaia, Zeus’ father, etc) so he’s kill two entire Greek pantheons
1:37 had me laughing 🤣 😂
Imagine how easy it would be if Kratos could still use his old magic
The gods would kill themselves so they don't have to fight kratos
I love how Odin looks just like his VA. Sounds so damn modern but love it.
When Verdandi starts naming Kratos's titles, the Greek music tone came back. Brilliant.
"In your lifetime has anyone ever worshipped you?"- Odin
Literally all of mankind(humanity) not only inspired in wars and battles but worshipped Kratos. From ancient times to modern, as is in the first God of War lore.
Wasn’t he worshipped as a human to lmao
"I know your son's story"
*Was the one who killed her son
"Now you should know mine"
*Also was the one who killed his family
To further elaborate further on how strong Sisters of Fates are, unlike the norms, they're primordial beings that not only they can control fate itself but also time of ALL gods, titans, and mortals. They decide if you should die or not or when you should die
yes there were bound to no one even the skyfather, king of the gods zeus wouldn't dare to mess with them
@@justanaverageenjoyer8494 Kratos entered there temple and ended them.
Zeus could have done the same.
The Sisters of Fate are the most Powerful entities in Gow (Greek Mithology). Even more powerful than Zeus
Yet he Kratos just entered their temple and whiped the floor with their asses
@@ababilichowdhury337 No, because Zeus was bound to his thread, therefore would never reach them. Kratos broke free from his thread.
After Krato's threat, Odin's fearful rant at 5:50 is such a wonderful projection of the way he likely feels about himself. Every accusation is an admission. Love the writing in this game.
5:37 You've never been to Sparta, have you Odin?
the problem about norse god is how naive they were thinking they could look down on a guy who became god and destroyed his own realm of godhood and its full cast of pantheon cuz he was angy.
The problem with Norse gods is how stupid they think they could look down on a guy who massacred an entire pantheon of gods who are far more superior to them
Should've added that
Odin: **Killed Atreus**
Kratos: Ahh sh*t here we go again...
Kratos: **Proceeds on destroying the Norse Gods like what he did before with the Greeks**
Then we get another game with Egyptian Gods and older Kratos lmao
Can't wait for that one in the future.
So 0 damage speed run basically 😂😂😂
As much as tthey would have liked to egg him on to what he was to show them the GOD of WAR Kratos kinda held it together pretty well Like a True father that gave his word to be better
Love these series so much, makes me want to buy all the GOW games and replay from beginning to end.
0:51 it’s not often you hear Kratos in that sort of curious tone, but this made me laugh considering his story is nothing short of amazing in that it would be “exaggerated”
Now they should make a game showing how Thor becoming a destroyer like the younger Kratos.
I love how whenever kratos tells a story about what he did in the past he could end them all with “so I killed them-“
Odin: "what do you even know of godhood, in your lifetimes has anyone EVER WORSHIPPED you"
The Spartans: 😮
I love the time in Vanaheim with Freya, you can slowly see Freya understand and even relate to Kratos
Let’s face it, Kratos is the OG John Wick never to be underestimated
5:44 the people of Sparta prayed to Kratos to save them when Zeus attacked
0:22 Ahh Good times...
0:52 I love how Kratos said "Exaggerated"? Like he is just offended by Mimir saying that XD
Mimir: “the stories were a bit exaggerated”
Kratos: “Exaggerated?”
I wonder if we'll see any of the Greek gods he didn't kill in the next games.
A few of them survived, I don't think we ever saw Hestia, for example.
6:42
Kratos: you know my past?!?
Thor: The "Ghost of Sparta" thing? yeah.
Kratos: then you know what I'm capable of?!?
Thor: Show me! 🥶
Why does mimir just saying fuck feel so visceral and hilarious?
Yo my man Kratos gonna clap Freyr cheeks
Lol should be a mini game like in the old GoW games
Freya*
People will be making it on pHub for sure lol
@@SinfulofSauce no matter
@@SinfulofSauce *Jay did not stutter.*
I like Freya’s reaction to what happened to Kratos’ family. This whole time she’s been pissed off at him for what happened to her son, which definitely was tragic… but Kratos’ story was just on another level of tragic
05:10 Odin: I know you're not the God you once were.
Me
*If he was, you wouldn't be able to have this conversation for much longer without getting killed in one of the most creative brutal ways you could imagine!*
Basically "kratos explains that he's been through enough"😂
"Return my son or you will see the god i once was." sheesh 🥶
7:48 Kratos's Rage coming back even for a minute brought back so many memories of the first 3 games deadass chilling
Mimir: We've got no way to kill Heimdall!
Kratos: I've killed god's greater than him...
*Kratos sure is flamboyant af*
Awesome titles Kratos has:
Ghost Of Sparta
Bane Of The Gods
Bringer Of War
God Of War
Cursed Mortal
Falllen God
Godkiller
Ares' Lapdog, and one title I made up myself: Beast Of Veangence
Notice how odin is always to the side of kratos. Never standing face to face with him for a long period of time.
The Norsk gods are cunning, clever and careful. Probably reflective of the hardy mortals that worship them.
The Greek gods are strong, imposing and arrogant. The people of Greece had bountiful harvests and were drunk on frivolity.
Love the contrasts.
2:38 that's what obi wan said when yoda asked if he'd kill anakin
Kratos is a lot more than just a God of War he's a God of Death, Wisdom, Change, Peace, Strength and Rage.
"Ive killed gods greater then him"fuck ya you tell em kratos
whats dope in this game is kratos is willing to die and it’s transparent he is due to his guilt, but once atreus gets mentioned it gives him reason to live and fight and brings out his full potential, the game has consistently shown if kratos has purpose for any such reason he is literally unstoppable . game is the definition of its not about the size of the dog its the size of fight in the dog
Kratos quotes Obi wan Kenobi- I will do what I must.
“He cannot change” is something Kratos always hears. Even from Greece
I love how trickery Odin is. 😂
3:15 ohhh mimir only if you see him killing gods
