I think that "fire" in Ezra's eyes was the desire to erase the mistakes that took her from Mengel; John Hansen was lucky to have been out of town. Mengel told that cop "everything was okay" because Mengel saw Ezra in the act of tricking Alex, pretending everything was okay, so she would be able to get him to drive where the "attack" can occur. The defense tried to come across as literary sounding because Ezra's defense was just that- fiction.

Guilt was never the problem here shes the killer. The defendant is only trying to lessen her punishment. But the fact that she killed her victim. Was never in question.
This is why it is difficult to have an impartial jury. In order to be an effective jury member, one must try to eliminate the emotional response, or biased judgment, and look only at the facts. It's natural to look at someone who is accused of murder in a suspicious way, so it's understandable. But that's why these kinds of cases can be so difficult because we know, yes, she killed him, but the question is why and under what circumstances.
Opened the same way Juan Martinez did for the Jodi Arias trial! “ This isn’t a case of whodunnit. Whodunnit sits before you today” and more (rough quote) but she said it just like how Juan did!
If she was scared of him or was unsure about him then why did she go for a drive in the middle of nowhere as she stated that she didn't have any idea where she was?
Remember to not allow complicated women/men to come back after breakup. It could be dangerous. Break ups hurt but move on and run away..love is not important than your life people!
It pisses me off how through out this trial everyone especially jasons weird ass still talks as if she was assaulted by either one of those men but ESPECIALLY the guy with the young child.
"Monica _(aka Ezra)_ meticulously crafted an image of herself as a well-read, edgy, and deeply philosophical individual. However, beneath this carefully curated persona lies a shallow, attention-seeking narcissist who struggles with basic literacy. Ezra’s outward sophistication is nothing more than a fragile façade, masking her insatiable need for attention and control. When Ezra is caught cheating on her boyfriend, Jason, with their close friend, Alex, she quickly scrambles to protect her reputation. After being dumped by Jason, Ezra concocts a twisted narrative in which she portrays herself as the blameless victim rather than the manipulative villain she truly is. She accuses Alex of taking advantage of her with his "unwanted advances." Hoping this lie will not only excuse her infidelity but also rekindle Jason’s sympathy and love. But when this plan fails to sway Jason, Ezra’s desperation drives her to a more final, chilling act. She brutally murders Alex- _stabbing him a total of seventeen times_ before claiming it to be an act of self-defense from another supposed "assault." Ezra believes Alex's murder will finally prove her earlier accusations and shift the narrative in her favor, transforming her status from villain to victim. In her twisted mind, she thinks that eliminating Alex will erase Jason’s sense of betrayal and ultimately win him back. Ezra’s story is a dark exploration of the lengths to which a person will go to maintain control and protect a fragile ego, even if its at the cost of another’s life."
This one takes the cake on crazy! It’s sad how they think all this fluid stuff is normal these days. I hate to tell you kids...but it’s a sign of needing a psychologist.
I’m no expert at all. But I get the feeling that Ezra is an actual psychopath, or at least somewhere on that scale. When you watch any interview with a diagnosed psychopath they often come off as very harmless, but charming (not always) and something is off about them. If they are also narcissistic (I used to think they always are but recently learnt that that’s not always true) they are often a little bit larger than life characters. They don’t act like anyone around them do, they are like cartoon characters or something, sort of unnatural. That’s probably also because when they try to act “normal” they’re wearing a mask. Trying to imitate people with empathy, but it rarely is believable. A lot of them smile a lot and often at inappropriate things or things you wouldn’t normally smile about. Ezra is incredibly calm and comfortable and seems to enjoy the attention she’s getting. You’d think she was somewhere other than in court being accused of first degree murder. Even when psychopaths are caught by the law, a normal person would be incredibly stressed and would panic. Psychopaths remain calm as if nothing serious has happened. Even when Ezra was sentenced she was incredibly calm and acted as if it was no big deal to go to prison for 50 year minimum, where as a normal person often faints or would be incredibly sad to know that they just ruined their entire life. Sure Ezra was crying, but that too looked like an act, like it wasn’t genuine at all. She didn’t actually look sad when she cried which was bizarre. To me everything about her seems to say that she might be a psychopath. Jodie Arias was also narcissistic I think, but in her case I’m not sure exactly what was going on. She didn’t seem quite like a classic psychopath. But Ezra to me is almost textbook. Of course there are also psychopaths who are just very dull personalities, like there’s just nobody home and they don’t seem to be narcissistic psychopaths but still very manipulative and harmful. I remember at least one psychopath who was diagnosed in an interview who didn’t come off as also being narcissistic, that guy was just incredibly dull and like he wasn’t there, he had those dead eyes. Ezra might not be like a full blown psychopath but I feel like she’s on that spectrum. Most psychopaths aren’t even violent, but obviously Ezra is. Again I’m just a normal stupid person, not an expert. So this is just my feeling based on what I’ve seen and read. I could easily be wrong. But that’s why I personally believe there’s no emotion, no real emotion. 🙏 sorry for such a long message
I do not buy this defense. This woman, who is able to carve the word "boy" into her own arm, she is afraid? Doesn't sound like fear to me. Alex was able to walk around after being stabbed in the head, so brutally the knife sent through his brain? Come on. Those are all superficial marks that SHE made to herself.
I think this is a rerun of the previous trial. Either that or she got a new trial through appeal. I commented on this case a few of the various days of the trial. I told people that Ezra was a good example of why you always need to be extremely careful about who you hang with and have relationships with because people can turn on you if you don't know the WHOLE person. I think about 500 people added comments to my comment. Ezra really stirred the old emotions in a lot of people. She is definitely whacko but she knew the difference between right and wrong.
I can only say after I had a stalker break in my house and assault me while I was pregnant and my 2 young boys were there, after it happened I ran to my sisters house next door, I have no memory. She said I hid in her closet, I don’t remember, I talked to the police, I don’t remember anything I said at all. I went to the hospital and I don’t remember to this day (30yrs ago) going there. I have only pieces of memory of that. I lost all sense of time also. After this one would think I would go through and lock all my doors and windows when in reality I opened all doors and windows (because I knew locked doors and windows would not keep someone out if they were determined to get in, as it was in this case) but for me I had to have multiple exits so if “he” came back to get me as he said he would. Nobody understood this, neither did I until many yrs of therapy later because I was trapped and couldn’t get away when I woke up to a stranger standing in the doorway of my room. I was a mess. I was diagnosed with complex PTSD which destroyed my life, my marriage later on and many jobs. I was a broken person who could never feel safe again. My behaviors were at times absurd to others. This consumed my whole life. I died that day. Because I thought I was going to die, my soul did. I know this is against popular opinion but I am not so sure she is guilty. Had I not lived through trauma myself, I would not believe it either.
Killing somebody for real can be traumatic for the fantasy driven killer as well. I would think especially for a chronic liar and someone who lived in fantasy lala land most of thier life. Real life is not the romantic killing fantasy she had in her head. Probably did give her a ptsd in a different way...
The difference between her story and yours, as far as we know, is that her story is fiction. The defendant in this case is a manipulative liar, so your comparison here isn't applicable.
Very sorry for what happened to you, but there is proof in this instance. Listen to her story. It’s ridiculous. She stabbed him through the brain, she cut his throat, and then said she was going to help him go to the bathroom? Come on now.
Geez everyone’s intuition was blaring but nothing could be done it seems. Honestly with the cops being called before hand I’m surprised she had the guts to do it. I guess that’s passion.
I am embarrassed listening to that defense attorney. I can't even stand to listen to his dramatics. How absurd! How humiliating! And all for the liar, Monica. She must have loved every second of that show....
I think you should rethink your statement. What if hypothetically, he didn't do the theatrics or put in the effort. she gets a mistrial and can't be tried again, then walks free. It's better to be theatrical and look like you care, than it is to put in no effort and someone walks free. Being a defence attorney isn't always about getting the person off. Sometimes it's about burying them, just not in an overt way. happens more often than you think. Like in the case of Dalia Dippolito, no attorney worth their salt would try the excuses they tried.
@@mealsome1571 It all comes down to delivery. I could easily make a passionate plea for my client without sounding like a buffoon. I find it comical that you feel a lack of theatrics should result in a mistrial. As far as the Dalia Dippolito case, there are attorneys who will do ANYTHING for (a) money and (b) publicity. I stand by my statements: Monica's defense attorneys were an embarrassment -- BOTH of them. You need to rethink your spelling.
@@Truth17John17 you need to rethink your grammar. I am glad we can resort to petty insults instead of productive discussion. I find it comical that you think I was referring to the theatrics. When my cat is making biscuits on my stomach his claws do more damage than that cut on her stomach!
It's so true. My cat would laugh at those puny leg scratches. Ezra clearly couldn't take the pain when she self inflicted them.
He Has A KNIFE!!!, you forgot that she brought it.

🤔 two totally different stories. This is the first I have heard of this trial. I really don't look at trials but this is crazy! thank you, RUclips for this recommendation. 💙🐝💙
Stay tuned, it's gonna be a wild one

That chapter called her out awhile ago. Seeing these court tapes is crazy! I feel like I see crazy in her eyes
I love Mike! I just got a notification an hour ago and I'm waiting until I get to sit down and watch it 🙂
Anyone else just laughing their ass off at the defense attorney's opening statement?.., she is running.., the finds a farm.., a house.., and she is running.., she finds a door..., dude thinks he is writing a horror movie ffs.., she stabbed him in the head ffs.., in the head and into the brain.., best of luck defending that nut case.
She's got them Manson lamps. Crazy eyes.
Sociopaths tend to have a narcissistic smirk.
I don't see the crazy. I see unbridled rage and insolence at being forced to do a trial.
I don't see any stab wounds on her. He keeps staying he jabbed her with the knife. A jab is a stab. Didn't happen.
Is Ezra transgender? Why was boy carved into her arm?

Ezra is hypocritical😦... she runs ...she runs...she’s fallen...she sees a...house... a farm...she rings the doorbell...a farmer... she had blood on her cloths... she had cuts and bruises... cut. cut. cut... she asks for a doctor... she doesn’t know her name.... 😓

its called "pure cringe" lol
Like why did her and her attorneys even bother with this defense? Did they actually think it was going to even maybe work? Come on. Just plead guilty.
I wondered why her lawyer didn't tell her to plea out.
Such a hair style! I guess, she was thinking, that everyone will look on her like "she is such a pretty small thing"
It serves to make her look abnormal and sinister. Great choice.
? She’s horrible, but it’s just a bun, she probably has curly hair. It would have taken me five minutes to make a similar style when I had enough hair.

@@undederayda2073 haha good one
Why is the defense talking like he's narrating a spooky campfire story.... So annoying.

Ezra was the one who said let’s go for a drive . It was HER that coaxed him in her car and went down that road . She plotted this
No way she fought this dude off her and he has 16 stab wounds and shes got a scratch... I call BS.
This is a weak argument. If she wanted to confront him about past sexual experiences they had why go to the middle of no where?
If she was scared of him or was unsure about him then why did she go for a drive in the middle of nowhere as she stated that she didn't have any idea where she was?
“This is not a case of ‘who dun it?’”
This...and the fact the victim’s name is Alexander. So much deja vu
Not to mention, the defendant’s use of the phrases, “he began to,” and “I began to.” This is certainly uncanny, to say the least.
Also, the forgetting.
Remember to not allow complicated women/men to come back after breakup. It could be dangerous. Break ups hurt but move on and run away..love is not important than your life people!
Makes sense she never paid for anything narcissists are entitled and think people owe them everything. 😂 Loved how she said she's never tipped 😂😂

@@Iceis_Phoenix It is comic relief. That is all.
But when this plan fails to sway Jason,
Ezra’s desperation drives her to a more final, chilling act. She brutally murders Alex- _stabbing him a total of seventeen times_ before claiming it to be an act of self-defense from another supposed "assault."
Ezra believes Alex's murder will finally prove her earlier accusations and shift the narrative in her favor, transforming her status from villain to victim.
In her twisted mind, she thinks that eliminating Alex will erase Jason’s sense of betrayal and ultimately win him back.
Ezra’s story is a dark exploration of the lengths to which a person will go to maintain control and protect a fragile ego, even if its at the cost of another’s life."

Guy was killed, shirt was cut. Not equal. Ezra is a damn killer.
This case was lost in the opening statements, the defense makes zero sense.
If this attack on Ezra, really happened, as the defence is trying to say, you’d think she’d show a little emotion?? 🤷🏻♀️
@@lassesuurmunne8340 Great, very interesting. And I can understand that so many men fell for her.
I’m guessing she is sitting in a prison cell, yelling out loud: “OKAY YOU GUYS jokes over, you can let me out now. Ha ha”

But apparently no remorse 🤪
16:55 Her weird reaction to the picture of Alex hanging out of the car.
🎯🎯🎯
She is worried about prounouns when she took Alex’s life. Disgusting!
EXACTLY
I think this is a rerun of the previous trial. Either that or she got a new trial through appeal. I commented on this case a few of the various days of the trial. I told people that Ezra was a good example of why you always need to be extremely careful about who you hang with and have relationships with because people can turn on you if you don't know the WHOLE person. I think about 500 people added comments to my comment. Ezra really stirred the old emotions in a lot of people. She is definitely whacko but she knew the difference between right and wrong.
It’s on a different video!!!
No only 2 people sorry
Incredibly guilty. She planned this.
She drove him out there to kill him
This isn’t about YOU
Killing somebody for real can be traumatic for the fantasy driven killer as well.
