- WI v. MCCANDLESS (2019) - Defendant Ezra McCandless takes the stand in her own defense. On direct-examination, McCandless testified to stabbing her lover 24-year-old Alex Woodworth, and then lying to investigators.
Prosecutors claimed McCandless stabbed Woodworth sixteen times on March 22, 2018, to rid herself of the inner turmoil of having multiple affairs and an abortion. The defense argues McCandless acted in self-defense when Woodworth tried to rape her. She was found guilty of first-degree murder and is serving life in prison.

Repeating almost every question before answering is a sign of deception. 🤥
You're so clever.
I think you’re right about this.
I was annoyed with her repeating the question…..
You are watching too many bs RUclips videos. 😂😂😂
It's also a sign of her whole testimony being SCRIPTED! Thankfully the jury saw through her.
it’s also a proper way to answer questions-especially when interviewed or writing certain papers/answering prompts, etc.
she shows no signs of trauma while retelling what happened. she’s merely telling the story she wants the jury to hear
I 💯 percent agree! She’s not even a good liar 🤥
Yes, and she makes sure to turn towards the jury with an "innocent face" every time she answer any question. Also if having such a high level of anxiety from a car being stucked, how come she can sit in a court room, almost smiling, when accused of murder..I see no anxiety what so ever.
Emotionless. Blank. Enjoy the 30 yrs living w the feds I’m sure she’ll enjoy it in there 👹
Yep. Just noticed that.
Very Jodi Arias like 🤓
So a dude uses knife to cut your clothes off.. rapes you… you stab him… he gets out car bleeding… you get out car (without your glasses) , and he yells for you to HELP HIM, you walk towards him to help him but he grabs you again still trying to rape you while he’s dying?? So you stab him again, take his phone, cut some word into your arm with the same knife??! I mean this sounds sus AF!!!!
Also, why was he asking for help to "go to the bathroom"? She stabbed him in the head and in various other areas, then he's like, "I gotta take a big ol' dump." What????
😂😂😂
Right it's obvious she is a crazy lair
@@m00nk1nYeG, Yes, but you know how uncomfortable those King Kong turtleheads can be.
To make it worse she actually did stab him through his scrotal area and into his bladder so the bathroom thing is really bizarre. She wasnt “helping” anything.
She had to "lie down in the car" because she had anxiety from her car getting stuck in the mud but was cool as a cucumber on the stand for murder..... 😒
Don’t you love living in a world where everyone blames every small hiccup in their life on overwhelming anxiety?
Exactly my thoughts as well. I see no anxiety in her what so ever on that stand. In fact, she seems to like it, and the way she almost smilingly turns to the jury every time she answers a question. She's a snake.
I Feel for Her with Respect to Her Anxiety. It Can Come on All at Once and for No Reason.
What I Find is that She Absolutely Knew the difference Between Right and Wrong. She KNOWS what She did But doesn't want Her Life to Be effectively Over. So Sad. There are No Winners Here.

Fam I was just about to comment about this and mistakenly scrolled here I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thrown off by this
Very difficult to believe this woman. From my perspective, she is making this story up word by word!
It’s a well rehearsed story
And amazing story. So detailed but she never says she is afraid or terrified or panicked. Hmmmm. She is good.
Her attorney gave her very terrible advice, to tell this story the way she did. There's literally no hesitation as she tells the story and definitely NO TRAUMA on her part. She took him there to kill him. I'm so glad she'll be 80 y.o. before they consider letting her out. She's the most dangerous type of snake....pretty but deadly!
This girl is fundamentally wicked. She feels nothing for anyone but herself. She is incapable of hiding the delight she feels as the star witness in her own trial. It’s abundantly clear she believes she’s shining on that stand and will never consider the fact that she’s performing for a captive audience. How can someone possibly be so intoxicated and swept up in the glow of the spotlight to the point that they’re completely unaware that they are a defendant in a trial with the most bleak future awaiting them? She has no fear or awareness of consequences.
Yup. "DUPER'S DELIGHT"
She i s lying
She is the poster child of our culture today, "all about me & I could care less about anyone else around me". She's using pronouns excuse, cutting excuse. This behavior apparently has been going on since she was a teenager. Murder is murder, hopefully they can prove this was premeditated.
SO superficial ...and a horrible liar . Way too much delight in recounting this horrible murder.
"After I cut 'BOY' in my arm, I started to make my way down the dirt driveway." ...Sounds like a line from a Dean Koontz novel.

THIS WHOLE CASE sounds like ‘Jodi Arias 2.0’ with many of the same lame excuses and convenient losses of memory as seems to suit the defence case.
She sounds SO REHEARSED
it is. She knew exactly what questions were going to be asked
I think any woman who has had a man on top of her knows kneeing him in the groin is not an option. It’s just not physically possible to get the force and have enough space between bodies to make contact. You wind up weakly bringing your knee up to the air. The only way you could knee him is if he is suspending himself in the air three feet above you (or if you are the one on top of him). PS: When you are lying down, you can’t “pull back” from a kiss. Your head is already against something. It’s as though she hasn’t ever been in a situation similar to this-it’s all imagination, zero lived experience.
She repeats her attorney's question before answering so that she can think of what to say. She's psycho.
She keeps saying "yes" before the attorney can finish asking her question. Very odd person.
They prepare them they don’t randomly come up with something
She has never experienced anything like it. Just like Amber Heard. She too couldn't describe a situation which made any sense, because she was trying to imagine what it would be like, rather than speaking from memory.
She reminded me of Jody Arias with her detailed story, point by point.
Why does she say “yes” almost every time during the questioning?
That’s a tell. It’s her trying to be agreeable and come across honest and open And she doesn’t realize it’s making her seem more like she’s making it up
Thanks Court tv,
Also, Rottweiler Investigation channel has this Whole trial in one place for those interested 💜🌞
No remorse. Lights are on but nobody is home. She's just enjoying recounting the experience...and saying "yes..."
she is a big liar. Every time she is asked a question, she repeats the question and then answers. she is a psychopath!!
She's not regretful at all😢
Yes your ritht here 😢
She started texting him AFTER telling him not to contact her again! I'd say it was pre-meditated and she brought a knife, for God's sake..
Duh.. it was easy for the jury to find this evil narcissist guilty! 😢 RIP Alex 😢💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭
"evil" doesn't exist, reality is much more complex than this simplistic word.
She is absolutely so completely comfortable being in this courtroom situation. She is guilty AF. An innocent person would show emotion knowing the gravity of this situation. She doesn’t seem like she’s fighting for her life. More like she’s being interviewed on a talk show.
When one recalls trauma that really happened one can't help but be dragged into the emotions of the situation, often as if it is happening in the present, and that can leave one very emotional, either frozen and numb or close to tears.
Yeeaaaah riiiight.... when someone that tries to kill you asks for help to go to the bathroom, the first thought that comes to your mind is to help him. Riiiigggghhhttt...
So, they're still in the car and she starts stabbing him and his reaction is to stay in the car while being stabbed and attempt to get closer to her to strangle her instead of getting away?
she's a narcissist

Exactly.
Ezra’s main concern was Ezra’s well being and her anxiety. She has to be the most bizarre person I’ve ever seen. You know when she’s lying is when she’s talking. She was concerned about not using her tent to give her car traction but stabbing a person to death was her result of having freedom to be with the love of her life. It’s too bad Jason didn’t pursue his uneasiness about the way Ezra’s was acting. Listening to her testimony about what happened it’s hard to believe she hadn’t been diagnosed with Some kind of mental disorder.
The saddest moment was when she said he took off his coat and layed down on his coat. In this moment he knew he was going to die.
Pretty sure he & jacket were found in car & her version was a lie
Did she understand that she doesn't have to testify or even speak? What sort of defense attorney would put this lying menace on the stand?? Unfathomable. - j q t -
My thoughts exactly 🤔
I guess these narcissistic types think they are outsmarting everyone with their acting and their bullshit. She probably thought this was a great idea and would get everyone on her side…. 🤷🏻♀️
You said menace lol
Because narcissists insist on it and love the attention
Riiiiight! I am just gobsmacked that the defense allowed this testimony.
Super cringe and super fake storytelling in my personal opinion! Firstly, makes no sense a man would not help when it comes to car trouble...And secondly, if she was afraid for her life from being stabbed to death, why walk straight into the "killers" arms again? It's so difficult for me to continue to watch such blatant lies!
So she brought a knife with her? She was sitting on the center console with her back to the driver's side, but then suddenly was pressed against the back of the driver's seat? He got out of the car, then layed down on his coat, then got back in the car, only to end up hanging out of the car dead? If he got out of the car and was standing by the trailer, why the HELL would she go to him? Why wouldn't she run her ass off to get away? Why the hell did she cut the word BOY in her arm, that's so bizarre? None of this makes any sense. You can tell her attorney is beyond annoyed with her testimony and hates having to do this.
I thought her and her attorney were both annoying. I couldn't get through it because it wasn't making sense. I'm here reading the comments as cliff notes. It seems no one else could follow the nonsense either.
Sooooo rehearsed!! And completely unremorseful! 🤬 LIAR!
Being stabbed multiple times and Alex saying: "I've been waiting for this so long".
Mmmm, Ezra doesn't have her facts in order. Chronologically. At 39 minutes in her story....
When she said he ask for help!!! and she went to him ... how did she find her way over to him without her glasses 😮
Jinkies Velma lost her glasses! 😆
The poor family of the victim Alex....to have to sit through this bs. Talk about adding insult to injury.
Why does she repeat the last words of the question being asked? Really strange, it sounds like storytelling. And it's so irritating.
It's a technique to buy time to think for example to come up with a lie.
It is so rehearsed. "at that point...", also a thousand times.
It is sad, but I don't believe her. As fake as Amber Heard.
Definitely sounds like a freestyle!! I seen like a “body language expert” or somebody say that’s how you know somebody is making up the story as they go.
Cause she's basically a moron who got coached like hell beforehand and simply lets you know that unwittingly by reciting her very well learned lesson at school while the teacher interrogates her.
It gives her time to think what she’s gonna say in answer. She’s such a liar
As she keeps talking to and looking at the jury. Pleading her innocence. 🤦🏻♀️
Like Amber Heard did..
Wow she could really keep herself busy while she’s incarcerated writing cheap paper backs with her ability to make up these stories. I can’t see one bit of remorse for what she’s done.
She is so unwell. 100% responsible, but not normal. She’s a monster. They don’t all look scary, but you can tell there is no sense of morality or feeling, remorse…she’s not human like you or I.

Yes! She also claims he needed to "pee" so she helped him pee then stabbed him in the side? Her story was just absolutely insane
@@hannam4014 yeah it was so crazy that it was almost comical. No body who’s just been stabbed/attacked has ever had to suddenly pee esp since the man was also stabbed in his genitals! Also when the police found the car, wasn’t the man hanging half out of the car? I could’ve sworn I heard that somewhere yet she stated he laid down on his jacket on the ground. I also can’t fathom anyone who’s just been stabbed like this thinking “oh let me put my jacket down first to lay on so I don’t get dirty” 🤦🏽♀️
@@sheslikethewind8999 Her story was insane! She is insane! I think Ezra was trying to get away and couldn't get Alex out of the car so she ran. Her art is also horrible and she needs to just stop trying to be in the limelight.
For her to sit there and tell a supposedly traumatic story and not one tear or any emotion shows the callousness of this person
The way she answers questions is very bizarre
Yes, not nervous one bit.
All the pictures I’ve seen of Ezra her look changes from picture to picture. She’s very bizarre. I feel sorry for Alex’s family. I can never understand how someone can murder another person. She is eerily similar to Jodie Arias. They both didn’t seem they had any remorse and they both lie so easily and they would speak in the third person.
That must be the sharpest knife in the history of knifes. I mean cutting through fabric which is on a person and who didn't notice until the sweater is cut completly open? You must pull the fabric so tight to cut it that I can't imagine she just noticed it once the sweater came loose...
Of course he brought a knife 😉 and she just by pure luck, was able to take it from him and stab him in a frenzy. I mean she only attacked him twice 🫣
I’m sorry. She’s cute and all that. But when she said this guy who attacked her got out the car after she stabbed him to get him off her. Then she stands around and waits for him to say something. He says he needs help going to the bathroom. So she goes and helps him for him to grab her and it starts all over again. I’m like guilty. If a woman is attacked and is about to be rapped. Once she gets free she’s running until she finds help. She went to him because he said he needed help going to the bathroom. And she just wanted to help him because she likes helping people. WTF. That’s the best she could come up with. She’s crazy.

As a European human being I‘m confused what questions they ask in a murder case in the US.
Right now she’s testifying. The defense asks questions to lead her. On cross the prosecution gets to ask questions that would prove inconsistencies. Usually the defense gets a rebuttal and then onto the next witness.
I can't stand listening to her. It's like she's memorized parts of a thriller novel in describing her "attack". Sorry, I don't believe her imaginary story.
