This line of questioning by the defense is absolutely bonkers. Like do they really believe that her gender identification means anything or matters to anyone other than HER. She’s the only one who cares and has ever cared…but this whole murder trial thing is getting in the way of her self expression
It's because her defense narrative was that he was so horribly abusive, and specifically - somehow - by misgendering her as "boy". Hence scratching boy into her own arm. It's demonstrably false and also bonkers, yes. It's clear he from his journals & messages he just went with what she wanted at the time. Also, that's not how anti trans hate crimes work... Changing your name is not exclusive to sociopaths or psychopaths. A lot, and I mean, A LOT change their names for safety reason or personal reasons which can include bullying of the name, sharing the name of someone you don’t want to, or just plain don’t liek your name. Anecdotal evidence is not factual evidence. My mother has changed her name 20 times in her 46 years and has finally landed on Elizabeth(Lizzie or Lizard). She’s always hated her name. It’s a rendition of Jennifer and how people would pronounce her name is just mind boggling. It really isn’t that hard to see that Genifer is Jennifer. But no. Every.Single.Phone call was “is this gen-high-fer?” “Is this geenifer?” “Is this....ms. Simms?” Some jsut wouldn’t even try to pronounce it. It gets tiring and old and you just want a normal ass name. Lmfao I also changed my first name cause I’m named after my father. I found out later in life, my father was a piece of shit woman beater who beat my mom and she almost lost me three times during her pregnancy. She tried to leave but was pressured to stay and was pressured to name me from my fathers side of my family. I want NOTHING to do with that so I changed it. Both my mother and I, are normal people. With the right amount of compassion, Empathy and a great bull shit detector. This woman, is just a sociopath. Her changing her name has nothing to do with her crime. It may hav something to do with her personality and yes, it can indicate a mental illness of sorts and her case, yes. I could safely assume she’s a sociopath.
I can't take anymore of her testimony....I don't understand what reading his private thoughts, and then her explaining them is all about.....totally sick.

I actually watched this in real time when it aired on Court TV. I think the defense move of putting her on the stand provided the Jury the absolute confirmation, removing ANY amount of Reasonable Doubt, of her guilt. She was a gift to the State’s case. She killed him because she slept with him, cheating on Jason, and getting caught. So after the whole sexual abuse allegations didn’t work out for her, she had to do something to eliminate the problem that SHE created. Her behavior on the stand was shallow, unsympathetic, arrogant, childish, very immature, attempted to be self-serving, and it screamed her guilt in this case. They way she smiles and Carrie’s on and literally basks in the attention she was getting, and seeing Jason on the stand, was mind blowing,…. If you were to tell someone about it, it was at a level you could not even make up…. The whole truth or reality being stranger than fiction thing was created for her situation from start to finish…. No and apologies, i often speak in a manner that has broad possibilities deliberately. I will try to clear it a little:- You asked a question. It was a very good question. I suspect the answer has both simple reason and ALSO very complicated reasons. It's clearly tragic whatever the reasons are. She appears lost, lost within herself. Struggles with her identity. Struggles with morality (thou shalt not kill) Appears indifferent to the crime and so self absorbed that it barely registers OR it's part of a defence /self preservation mechanism. Perhaps she is so unloved that the attention she is now receiving is worth committing the crime for. My response to you was to suggest, that contemplating for an answer is definitely worth while. Mainly HOW DID IT GET SO? Do elements of society promote this dysfunction/condition in order to benefit out of it? I have my own opinions about it . Raising awareness may help remedy these tragedies.

Lmfao
I also changed my first name cause I’m named after my father. I found out later in life, my father was a piece of shit woman beater who beat my mom and she almost lost me three times during her pregnancy. Both my mother and I, are normal people. With the right amount of compassion, Empathy and a great bull shit detector.

She tried to blame the victim, she tried to disparage Alex’s character after killing him, and she tried to make herself the real victim in this very sad story….
She simply has no place in society. None at all….
She fits in with the rest a narcissist wanna be victims in America.
The fact that she takes the stand smirking and laughing and smiling is repulsive.
Some people respond to nervousness and anxiety by smiling and laughing. Although it is inappropriate, it is not indicative of guilt, exactly.
@@beeslaughter7674 That's not true. People feel nervous and people feel anxiety, but smiling while speaking about murder is a strong indiction of guilt. It is a marker for sociopathy or narcissistic personality disorder. Look up "Sociopath's smirk". It's a well known phenomenon in criminal psychology.
@@beeslaughter7674 Oh and by the way-she is guilty. She murdered a man with her bare hands. Are you someone who smiles inappropriately? Is that why you identify with her? Have you ever harmed someone and then smiled while speaking about it later? If so, you're on a spectrum of sociopathy or narcissism. Some people might suggest that only someone else on the spectrum would make an excuse for a murderer smiling about it. In the same way only a pedophile would make an excuse for why a 40 year old man would be texting a 15 year old. Those are just two examples. Anyway, I'd be careful if I was you. Going around trying to make excuses for murderers isn't really a great advertisement for you as a person.

And it's okay for ezra to testify to details or takeaways from. conversations she had with the victim and jason and everybody else under the sun.. but not for everyone else to do the same???? Wild.
She reminds me of an ogre.
This woman has been self absorbed all her life. What I feel, what fits me best etc. She was never shown that it’s not all about her, she was allowed to believe her view & love of herself was somehow normal. Sickening.
In her police interview she even said that her daddy told her to keep on stabbing if she was ever attacked.

Why is this woman smug like she is smiling and literally loving the attention.
I think you should definitely and honestly explore that question. Potentially look at any beneficiaries of having increasing numbers of people like this?
Who would benefit and who would lose.
How did the situation arrive , has it been promoted?
@@jimladd2774 have you commented on the wrong comment? Because your comment is confusing to me.
No and apologies, i often speak in a manner that has broad possibilities deliberately.
I will try to clear it a little:-
You asked a question.
Raising awareness may help remedy these tragedies.
dana jenkins to recording of memories ...
She smirked at the abortion she talked about..2 times like she was struggling.
Wow absolutely NO remorse. Doesn’t she consider that they might be setting her up to illustrate her narcissism to the court?? Like, maybe don’t smile so much dude...she’s absolutely beaming, and loving talking about herself...ugh
Yes exactly my though on why they dialogue was more like an interview to get a sense of how extreme her narcissism is.
and like LETS SAY it was self-defense, a normal human being would still feel disgusted they killed another person and feel bad... right??? or at least angry or something. She seems too happy and confident sitting there, to be someone who escaped from being hurt by killing someone else by self-defensing.
She's in her element - the centre of attention. Interestingly, when she was asked to read aloud, she read very poorly, skipping and mispronouncing words.
The victim's family needs to file suit to insure she cannot profit from anything she writes while rotting in prison.
That's a natural given if she is convicted.
There's already a law for that. It's called Son of Sam law.
@@intothemystic5223 Wisconsin's Son of Sam law is different she can still profit from anything that does not directly describe or recreate the crime that she was convicted of. WIS. STAT. § 949.165 (1999)
So she can write poetry or a fictional novel or a cookbook and keep the profit.
JohnP538: Don’t worry, if her writings are as juvenile and monotonous as her victim’s “essays” there won’t be any profits.
@@JohnP538 wow that's shitty!!
I was a regular at a bar for 3 years in my late 20s and there were so many highs and lows and drama amongst the 20 or so daily regulars. And these were drunks...high functioning alcoholics many of whom were well over 35. And these people in this case are doing all this hoot-a-nanny....over coffee????
Lmbo. Yep. Coffee.
Wtf is a hoot a nanny
I am deeply disgusted that they are allowing her, the murderer, to dictate what his written works meant. But maybe that's just the writer in me.
I know! How dare they use his writings to analyse his thoughts and behaviours. These defence teams always make me feel sick.
Look over there, not over here 🤨🙄
I felt the same. How horrible for his family to hear his thoughts from her mouth. Then to have her to narrate and explain what he meant by things he wrote or what how he thought about cannibalism. Just disgusting it was allowed.
Same.
@Adriana The normal person in me wants this girl to go take a flying one, but the kid in me loves the the frosting side. Ya, everybody's a writer. Me too. 😜😂🤣😁😁👍
That's the only defense in high profile murder trials like these. Try to make the victim sound like the crazy one. Remember that the strategy with a case like this isn't necessarily to argue innocence but to argue for a lower sentence. It's a common tactic but the defense has to do their job and put up some kind of fight no matter how they feel about the case.
Something seems off about this girl. She seems so disconnected from her words.
Absolutely agree! Glad to see someone else picked up on her demeanor.
For sure
That's what she wants us to think. This is sociopathy.

Something off? Her rocker, possibly.

Why are they questioning her like this is some grand interview? “Are you an artist?” “How did you come up with your new name?” Also, what does “Are there times you were heavier?” Have to do with literally any of this?? Just throw the dummy is prison.
To lull her into a false sense of security so she's more inclined to say things she may otherwise withhold.
Behold! It Knits I feel like that should be more for the interrogation room tho
To let the jury get to know her background. Showing the possibility she is unstable or had identity issues or multiple personality. It basically gives the court context
Have you ever seen a court case? You have to calm them down and see what there like before you can read them properly, and you can’t just “throw them in prison” they have to state their case and be sentenced.
Katharine Allard I just mentioned the interrogation room also. Yes, I’ve seen court cases. But the attorney is out of whack, several others on this thread seem to agree.
she's the girl in a high school English class who has the highest grade based off of her ability to conform to the rubric despite having no skill or intellect
Wow.....somebody has a large axe to grind.....what’s your problem?? Did a girl in high school breeze through classes you struggled with, or did she beat you for the highest grade on everything despite your best efforts?? You’ve obviously rewritten the script in a way to make yourself the so-called “superior” and much more intelligent girl by describing her as vapid and stupid, but you’re wrong. There are many students with excellent brains who don’t need to work as nearly as hard as other students-meaning you-and many more who are eaten up by jealousy and feelings of futility. Your anger, jealousy, and feelings of malaise are going to stay until you work them out with a professional. And you’re a classic Mean Girl, no doubt about it, who probably, with your friends and at your instigation, bullied her every chance you got. High school is over, and taking very self-revealing potshots at girls who remind you of her isn’t working; you were too old for that crap at the time and are doubly so now. Time to find a good therapist who can help you flush all of this anger and jealousy and guilt out of you....keeping it bottled up will make you sick.
Don’t listen to voracious reader, you’re exactly right.
