I own both and they are legit turkey death sticks. I run the stock choke in the .410 with federal or apex 9's I run a Rectifier Diamond series .060 constriction in the 20ga and that thing loves about any tss #9 load. When I break out the Longbeard xr #6's that lil 20 is flat ridiculous throwing oldschool lead !
I agree with everything you said 100 percent,Those 301 20 gauge's are harder to find one that dont hammer to 40 with about any handload tss,But its all depnding on the shooter and expectations as you said the fur tens are just so smooth to swing and fun if you got time and money get em both😂 as we most all do!!give anything if theyd sell a 28 gauge id buy 2 the same day
I have both and they both hammer my 410 like burguss creek 10 shot and the 20 like apex gt20 and viper ammo 9 shot both have Indian creek chokes I carry the 410 when hunting the big woods because of it being so light but the 20 is my go to man keep up the great videos lots of great info guys greatly appreciated!!
I got the 20 guage after watching you guy’s patterning these guns last year and I’m glad I did,put a fastfire ii on her and it’s money shooting lead pheasant loads at 35 yards.I’m going to try a 1 5/8oz. #9 tss through the stock choke at a 4’x4’ target @ 40 yards in the near future and see how she does. Can’t find the tightwad choke in stock right now so depending on how it patterns at 40 with the stock choke i may get a comp n choke .555 for her.I believe you guy’s pattern tests and the comment section has sold a lot of tightwad chokes😁
I own both and have done extensive patterning with them, shooting both TSS and lead. I tend to agree with your observations, in the end I hunt with the 20 gauge!!
I have 3 of the Stevens. Mostly because of availability in my area. They're not perfect, but it doesn't take much to get them close. I'd like to try the Rossi at some point.
Ahhh the elusive TightWad. The hardest $25 I’ve ever tried to give away….🤦🏻♂️ I just ordered a .410 with the thumb hole stock to get set up for my 9 year old. He wasn’t a huge fan of the wallop that the 20g had with those 3” Apex shells 😆. Hope to test it out next week.
I own both, I like the heavier, longer pull of the Rossi trigger, Steven's has a lighter quicker trigger, afraid it might be possible to jump the trigger under pressure or with gloves on
Bud , you may know so I'm gonna ask. Savage doesn't seem interested in answering an email or the phone. I'm trying to find out what the choke constriction is on the choke that comes with the 301 .410 . You may be able to help.
@@davidkang6663 that doesn’t have that big of a demand for us to pattern plus the engine just went in my truck so anything I had planned on adding to the turkey pattern series is out the window I’m just hoping I can still try to get at least one trip in but I doubt it
So I bought the twelve and a twenty gauge a t I turkey foul. Found out that some of these Turkish made firearms do not have quality control. The 12 seem fine. But the twenty gauge gave me some problems with my safety. Could not get this problem solved through their warranty department. Traded both of them in and decided to bite the bullet and buy the henry. It seems to be a better quality gun which I need In the field. I did consider the 301. But found out that they are made in china. Still looking into some of the problems with 301. Overall, sometimes these budget guns aren't what they seem to be better off.Just saving up a little bit more money and buy a better quality firearm
I completely disagree with this statement every budget gun we’ve tested has absolutely hammered and only one had issues but was easily resolved We have so many hunts & pattern tests with the 301’s it’s absurd and they are rock solid , one cannot justify spending more when they perform for under $200
I had both when I was a kid a hunting in the Blue ridge mountain in the 60s but they were model 94 they both served their purpose of puttingmeat on a table screw and choke is definitely a game changer and today's shells I hunt with them both now I still have t😮hem
Everything on the stevens here:
Beartooth comb riser : amzn.to/3SGXGym
Holosun 507c x2 gr : amzn.to/3I9zShv
Holosun picatinny rail mount : amzn.to/3uswUSp

Love to hear that! They really do hammer!

We believe that as well! As it should!
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSAYes Sir they are a bargain and flat out work
Yessir!

I got real lucky with my 410 it’s an absolute beast as y’all know but it’s hard to argue how easy it is to get that 20 to hammer
"You gotta learn your gun." Well said! 👍
Yessir ! It’s the main thing to focus on you learn what true constriction range it likes for different shot and it’s all a piece of cake after that
I’ve got the 20gauge and it rocks. The factory choke shoots dang good.
Hell ya it does!
fac choke is modified, correct? I think that's a good all-round choke, probably the best for any typical range
It is not it’s the turkey choke in 20 gauge
I have 3 of the Stevens. Mostly because of availability in my area. They're not perfect, but it doesn't take much to get them close. I'd like to try the Rossi at some point.
I love my Rossi’s great guns just like my stevens!
Both my 410,and 20 gauge came with great chokes. My 410 likes apex ninja and my 20 likes the apex” mullet load”…👌💪
Love that name!
Ahhh the elusive TightWad. The hardest $25 I’ve ever tried to give away….🤦🏻♂️

Performance talked and they sold out asap ahahah
I like your style! I have a 301 thumbhole stock I have never even shot yet lol
How about a 16ga test. All the used gun shops and shows near me have tones of old 16s for cheap.
Can’t afford to add a 16 gauge to the channel currently or it would have happened this spring
I have both. I think the 20 is the better of the 2 from my experience. Both have sumtoy reflex mounts. Think they were $50 but not 100%.
I got a SB 28 gauge.. It's a blast
Hell ya! 28 gauge is king!
As always another AWESOME VIDEO. Here’s a question for you, can or will you tell us what company in your opinion loads the best TSS TURKEY 🦃 LOADS ?
My answer would be All of them that handload
just depends on what you determine to be the best for you but they all provide solid options
I own both, I like the heavier, longer pull of the Rossi trigger, Steven's has a lighter quicker trigger, afraid it might be possible to jump the trigger under pressure or with gloves on
Very possible !
Agree 100% got em both.
Can’t go wrong at all!
Hi Jake, I have a Stevens 301 in 20. Gauge. What type of primos 570 choke will fit this shotgun

They vary big time it’s a range we’ve seen .378-.395 so far
@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA thank you sir. Big time.
@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA not very consistent are they lol
@jamesclark5679 got you
Can you tell me why you are not going to try the stevens 12 ga?
I believe I have before, it’s just not in the budget to buy a gun we’d have to buy all new chokes for as we have none
Ok
@brownjohn721 maybe down the road we will! But I’m unsure Wel go that route
Can you do a Henry turkey review.
I wish I could afford to add that to the pattern series
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSAlol!! Yeah it's one expensive gun.

20ga 301
Sumtoy mount
Burris ff3
Apex ammo
Tightwad choke
Rigged up cheek riser
Stacking turkeys
Letsss gooo!
Good advice
Performance talks yessir
Very good thanks
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Sorry you mentioned Sumtoy right after I commented.
Yessir but I was way off on the price 🤣🤣
Yall should check out the ATI O/U turkey gun
We have!

Yes things have changed a lot over the years ahahah
20ga because my state doesn’t allow the .410
Simple call then! Ahaha
I have both and wish i had never bought either one of them... Spend a few more dollars and buy you a good gun...
Man you must have zero luck we can’t find a setup the 20 gauges don’t like!
If you’re near the upstate of SC we should chat. Why do you dislike them?
We like them they are amazing guns
