    I’ll be in the market for an family adventure/ overland rig in a couple years. The new Defender is growing on me, but I must say that originally I didn’t like it because it was so different to the old one, but in reality the new one is much more suited to modern life. I’m eagerly waiting to see how it does in terms of long term reliability.

    I'm going to order a replacement wind shield before it cracks. Just drove my 2020 Defender 110 P400 SE in Tasman Blue from Atlanta to Eureka, California via Wyoming and back with no issues. My second Land Rover and definitely my favorite for now. "Ganjier Defender"

    Seat latch broke? Folding down seats is very helpful/useful ,Ugh….hopefully they fix it for the 2022 model. Thank you for the thorough update. Electronics. I have faith in the Defender. cheers

      The stitching in the seat latch ripped. It’s still able to fold if you dig your hand between the seat cushion and backrest. Big inconvenience until it’s fixed.

    Tesla has the same amount of "minor" issues after costing 60 grand. I cannot enjoy how amazing either car looks without the bulletproof reliability of Lexus and Subaru.

      It sucks that in the auto industry you either get something appealing but unreliable or something reliable but has the appeal of a taxi cab (think Toyota). You can't have both. I want a Land Rover or a Jeep so bad but neither are reliability winners. The one silver lining with Jeep over the Land Rover is that here in the US Jeeps tend to have parts readily accessible and just about any mechanic will work on them.

    Did they ever get the speaker straight? There were reports of the speaker screws being stripped out and over torqued occasionally at the new factory. I still want a Defender, even though they still have the same quality control issues from years ago when I had my Range Rover. You learn overlook a lot because you love the car.

      I was considering the RS3 and the Golf R, but you couldn’t custom order those at the time. Very different to the Defender, but I know I went for the right choice.

      Unfortunately you have to press the button every time. Auto stop/start has to be one of the dumbest emissions regulations in the universe.

    6 months ownership requiring multiple visits to JLR to rectify (or attempt to) minor but annoying faults. That’s not okay with me and why I’ll never buy a LR again. My last LR was the same. Never any major mechanical issues but over two years ownership it was always something. I don’t enjoy spending days trailing back and forward to the dealership. The Defender looks cool but build quality and reliability (not just mechanical) are far more important to me. After my last LR I was so sick of it being in the dealership I traded it in for a Kia. Boring but after 18months ownership not a single fault.

      Idk about your location but my dealership picks my car up and drops it off when they’re done with it, leaving me with a loaner in the mean time- all complimentary. Makes maintenance a non issue even for things like oil changes.

      @cincyrovers  3 года назад +3

      It’s a brand new car; all new cars have issues. One stone chip and a software bug isn’t what I’d necessarily call a “major problem.” Mechanically it’s been flawless.

      Some people have had problems with their Defenders - again, not uncommon for a brand new car on a brand new platform. However, most people haven’t had any issues, or just software related problems. It’s ultimately up to you, but if it helps, I also have a 2017 Discovery that hasn’t had a single problem in the 4 years I’ve had it.
