    What do you love and hate about the new defender?

    The strut on the rear door locks anywhere along its 90° arc

    Simply squeeze the inside door grip on the rear door and it will lock in place.

    I have this P300 90 up against a fully decked 2.7L 4 Door Bronco Badlands… I’ve driven the Badlands and a P400 90 - if it was the same money I’d go P400 90 all day… but there’s a $15-$20,000 gap. Dialing back to the P300 90 you can configure it with decent options for $60k… I just don’t know if I can bring myself to sacrifice on that much power with a heavier vehicle.

      That is a dilemma
      What about getting the P300 Defender 90, and getting a tune done on the motor for more power ?

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  2 года назад +1

      I am the first person that says more power all the time. The purposes we use the Defender for and what I intend to use the Defender for I do not see the p300 to be underpowered at all. Adequate power for daily driving and light off road use. I personally will keep my focus on more power for my fun cars that are made to go fast.

    • @billfrigo7602

      @@StephenFogarty2023 not sure how much more power a tune will result in; and/or if that will void the warranty. After thinking about the issue more, I am leaning towards a P300 90. I drove another Bronco with Sasquatch this time and another Defender 90 with the P300. The Defender is much more luxurious and quiet. Unquestionably better stereo (I’m an audio guy + I live in LA with long commute times daily so that matters a lot). Panoramic roof is excellent; Ford’s hardtop had so much wind noise it was comical, but they are addressing via recall right now. The Denfender P300 (4 cyl turbo) in 2 door felt slower than even the 35” tire Sasquatch Bronco with the 2.3L 4 cyl turbo. Engine noise was louder but much more than the engine noise / character of the P300 in the Defender.

      @@billfrigo7602 the Defender is definitely a much more refined and classy vehicle v the Ford.
      Go ahead and get the 90 in the model & spec u want, and add on mods to suit u.
      U will be very happy with it.
      The 90 looks sensational
      Always puts a smile on your face
      Enjoy. 👍

    In UK I think you get a recover eye in the box beside the jack. My D300 is returning 39mpg on long runs
    at 70mph using the speed limiter. Cruise control drops it to 36ish. You talk about the V8 Defender 150mph
    and still a very safe car. Check out the wrangler something on You tube doing the NCAP crash test at 30mph.
    Do they do crash tests on cars in the US?

    Very appreciative of your reviews of the D90.
    Was wondering if you could help me understand one thing (haven't had a chance to ask a dealer yet); when building out a D90 on the LR website, which towing/hitch option actually gives you the option to have a receiver? The goal is to be able to insert a bike rack hitch, or platform storage for long trips. On the LR website there seems to be 2-3 different options (for coil) and I'm not sure which one gives me the option.
    Flies are more satisfying to smack out of the air. Mosquitoes are the more annoying & dangerous pest.

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for checking in. I believe the $675 is just the tow receiver. The $1875 tow package gives all the technology associated with towing in addition to the tow receiver. #teamfly

    Hey Guys. Hope you guys are well. Great video. Ive always liked the LR Defender but now you guys have one and reviewing it, I like it even more though its not perfect. But what vehicle is? Thanks for bringing this vehicle to the channel and explaining the details.
    Both flies was mosquitos are annoying. I give the nod to Austin's side. Mosquitos are worse since they tend to bit you more and are more stealthy. Plus mosquitos spread more diseases.

    It is Misleading about what you said about adding on a tow hitch (It also makes me suspect most everything else after that). If your Defender did not come with the Tow Package or at least the Tow Hitch… it is a PITA to add it afterwards. Very invasive and costly. $3,000 plus. 3 tips. 1) If you are ordering a new Defender, just tick the box for the Tow Hitch. I don’t care if you think you will use it or not. It’s only $700 approx. It will go a long ways towards resale/trade-in value, plus a hitch is used for way more than towing (bike rack, rear cargo rack, etc). If yours doesn’t have it you are loosing 50% of your resale market when you go to sell. 2) Dealers: when advising your clients…see #1. 3) Land Rover Company: How about you just include the basic Tow Hitch as standard. I mean, you brag that the towing capacity is 8,100lbs but you don’t include a tow hitch?!?
    I have been hunting used/certified Defenders that would be perfect…except they don’t have a tow hitch…instant pass

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  6 месяцев назад

      I would not be afraid to tackle putting Hitch on. It's not that bad. I would not want to deal with the wiring side.

    Such a great car.
    As u said, the breadth of capability offered by Defender is immense & awesome.
    Regarding speaker crackles and seat clicking etc, make a list of things, Book it in at your LR Dealer, and get them to go over the car and rectify.
    Many of these dislike items would be known to LR and subject to “service action” campaigns...
    These minor quality issues will be sorted by LR at the factory in due course.
    It’s a totally new vehicle from the ground up.
    Every manufacturer has these minor quality issues with an all new model vehicle... 👍
    Your suggestion to manufacture Defender 90 with rear seat on sliding rails is brilliant, and I’m very surprised that it was not developed and manufactured with this feature. Other LR product has the rear seat on a sliding rail. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    P400 uses less fuel then a P300 ? coz the P300 motor is working (very) hard to move the weight of the vehicle etc etc..

    I've heard you can remove the rear seat to allow the back seat part to fold flat? can you test this?

    • @PerformanceOnWheels

    Let me check. You have the reliability of coils, but does that spec come with the ‘advanced off-road’ option?

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  3 года назад

      Is the advanced off road option, no more then automatically selected the terrain response mode for you? If that is correct this one does not.

    • @D-WFR
      @D-WFR 3 года назад +1

      The advanced off road pack with the automatic and configurable terrain response I believe requires the air suspension option as standard. The coil option has the electronic active differential only. It would be interesting to really see the difference in each of those.

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  3 года назад

      I could be wrong. My interpretation of the feature is more of a luxury/convivence then actually more capable.

    The D200 is a perfect engine for the defender and still has enough power for this big off-Roader. The fuel consumption is low…

    • @StephenFogarty2023
      @StephenFogarty2023 3 года назад +2

      These guys r in USA
      They only get P300 or
      P400 in USA.
      No diesel offered in USA.
      D200 ??
      R u meaning new Ingenium
      3.0 litre 6 cylinder engine ?
      147 kw / 500 nm
      is a great engine, and will be ok if u don’t load it up too much.
      110 model is about 2.3 tonne before adding people and luggage etc, but, a Defender at GVM / GCM
      Would struggle with D200.
      IMO, the minimum engine would be D250 -
      183 kw / 570 nm for using at
      GVM / GCM...
      Not much fuel usage difference across all of the 6 cylinder Ingenium Diesel engines...
      P400 is a great engine
      Better fuel consumption then a
      P300, coz the P300 works very hard to haul the vehicle around.
      P400 uses more fuel v a diesel, and a lot more fuel once u load up the P400 to
      GVM / GCM...
