1st year for any new model can be quirky. Seen that on many other cars. More gadgets equals greater potential for issues on any vehicle. Keep in mind supply issues worldwide!
Big mud flaps a must. I found the box obscures rear side vision on RHD. Snorkel and roof rack will increase wind noise but look good. My work computer laptop and i phone crash all the time just switch off and restart its same with PRIVI. My one not crashed yet.
All I know is that I knew someone who bought a brand new Range Rover. I remember everyone questioning why he hadn’t driven it in a while. Then someone mentioned it was in the shop. Something about something going on with the suspension. He got it back and before you knew it, the car was MIA again! It’s funny how the actual owners of the vehicle “keep quiet” about all their issues, until they get rid of it. But until then, they stay quiet as a mouse about the mayhem they’re going through 😂
Mud flaps are a must... I say some off-road lights upfront, that is all I plan for mine...still waiting on my 90. Thanks for the new video guys, keep it up!
Owned 2 LR convertibles & Discovery HSE…2017-2021…Computer/Navi was fun…sit down, get out, lock, unlock, touch your toes…wouldn’t work for 1+hrs. Thank God for smart phones. I still love the look of 90…Tempted 1st world problems!!!!
I forgot about the convertibles!! Those were...something. There is something special enough about them that keep people coming back. Even with the headaches.
Like your videos! Not too fancy but always sharing your true feelings!👍🏻 I’ve owned a Discovery Sport 2020, honestly, reliability is not that bad, yet it’s a really comfortable car with some off-road ability.👍🏻
The Nav issue on any car at any price point would classify it as a reliability issue. I would think about modifying the plates fro better access to the oil pan.I have seen many vehicles, to include bikes, that have an access panel to the drain plug. Mud flaps and Proud Rhino rock sliders would be my first consideration. Maybe wheel arch protectors.
As far as mods definitely put bigger bfg all terrains when the lift gets installed! Something cheap you could do is black lug nuts to fully black out the wheels. Also, any accents that you could paint black to complete the storm trooper look. Perhaps smoking out the real tail lights if you’re into that kind of thing.
If you're using the navigation to go somewhere you've never been before and it cuts out halfway through your drive you might not know how to get to your destination without the navigation. That makes it unreliable. You have to stop and do the whole shutdown and restart to get it to work again which delays your journey and makes you late. This is meant to be a vehicle not a Microsoft Windows operating system or office product. If it didn't have those issues that you mentioned it would be great.
@@PerformanceOnWheels yeah there have been several that have mentioned it or reported it in the New Defender Owners group on Facebook, I've luckily not had to deal with this issue yet in my 110 though. But it seems to be a common problem. Right now I'm dealing with disappearing coolant 😬. No sign of leaking, no smells in vents, etc. Just keeps getting low on me. I've had to put more in twice now. And this year I've noticed my passenger side vents blowing cold air when I have the heat set to 78. Guess I'll be making an appointment here soon for them to take a look.
Weird! I had the same thing on the 2011 Rover I had. They do a pressure test? I believe JLR has always used some plastic components for junctions on cooling system I have read that those tend to be fail points.

I will buy one when the Brit’s make them again. The quality of these vehicles for the price point is absolutely horrendous. This is why you can find plenty of these with very low mileage used. NO ONE wants a $90,000 vehicle with leaks, rattles and inferior parts, you can get that with any Chevrolet.
Sticker on this one was $57k. Same as a loaded Wrangler, Bronco or your common explorer. I agree being a luxury brand you would anticipate perfection. There is something special about the experience regardless. I don't regret the purchase.
10:40 Considering that you can spec this thing to like $150k, yes I would consider that this is not a reliable vehicle, specially if it something electronic.
Issues don't really prevent me from buying a vehicle that I really like. That said, I wish Land Rover could find a way to build vehicles that have less issues. I decided to take a chance on a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and after nearly four years, it has been 100% free of issues. I'd like to buy a Defender in the future, but I might just stick with Jeep again.

Toyota gives only yearly oil changes as well using "Toyota Genuine Full Synthetic" which is actually Mobil 1 Annual Protection as part of their maintenance plan. I don't trust that once a year BS and still do my oil changes every 6 months (roughly every 5K miles). I would especially be stringent on doing this once every 5k miles on a Land Rover.
Change the oil. Or see some YY videos of people's cars who did not. There is no such thing as long life oil. The oil gets dirty in time, it doesn't matter that it doesn't degregste in time.
@@PerformanceOnWheels A Polish mechanic took a BMW 2.0 l turbo gasoline after some prolonged milage without initial oil change. The oil was full of metal shavings from braking in the engine. The dash noise you are referring to could be windshield pillars. I would have someone check them, I believe there is a service bulletin for it.
I was thinking the same thing. Where I hear the noise it does not make sense. I guess there is the possibility that is the wind entry point however.
