POV: it’s 2075, your grandson is visiting and you and your friend open the shed, pull off the cover. It’s all dusty and a b series presents itself. the grandkids start whispering about the story’s they have heard, about how these motors where legends. you put in some new gas, prime it and slowly hear the car turn over. then it starts. b series idling like a absolute unit. so you decide to do one last pull and show them what it’s about. pull in 3rd gear. The engine is screaming they feel VTEC for the first time. Screaming 9k rpm 4 cylinder. And they fall in love with hondas

I’m old-school, I love the sound of the B series VTEC. The K series is excellent too and I’ve never owned a car with a K series, but I’ve driven in a couple many times. I still prefer the B series. I love the originality of the design. That was during the time when Soichiro Honda was still alive, even though he was retired before he passed Aug 5, 1991. He still oversaw the creation of a legendary quality engine, that was housed by The NSX, the Prelude, the Integra Type R, the Legend, & Civic Type R.

also C30A that was in NSX was pretty much a frank from other C series engine then C32B came with its biggest modification being special cylinder sleeves so they cound have really thin cylinder walls to fit bigger pistons it was essentially a bored out C30A and it worked out great in my opinion
      also
as u mentioned B series do you know about B21? that was quite interesting variant and probably most of us will never see this engine in person heh thats a shame because it looks nothing like B series

B engines are legendary, but K series just improved on that formula, big-time. You can't really argue that K series engines aren't superior. Honda surely spent many millions of dollars to research the improvements going into the K series from the B series.

It's important to mention that the VAST vast majority of K-series engines feature economy car cylinder heads and economy i-VTEC, which are fundamentally different from their performance counterparts. Not all K engines are made equal. All variants of the B16A are fully ready for performance tuning, but tuning an economy K series is more difficult and expensive. Very few K engines made are actually worth tinkering with, especially here in the US.

The B series is getting more expensive due to mutliple factors:
    1) stocks are decreasing
    2) inflation we are all experiencing and
    3) Strength of its economy being near 25% smaller that a K20 and near 50% smaller than a K24
    4) When it comes to Hp per Litre, only theType R K20 has a better HP/Litre ratio and that is only by a small margin when compared to comparable Type R B16B or Type R B18C
    5) With dwindling stocks enthusiast customers are the only ones more prepared to pay higher prices to keep their cars genuine or period correct keeping/boosting prices high.
This period is separating the casual owners (novelty owners, image, speed motivated owner) and the genuine enthusiasts.

K-series has the advantage of being a clockwise spinning engine. This makes it usable in non-Honda platforms such as Miatas, 240SX’s, old VW’s, and many, many more. Trying to swap a B-series (or H-series) engine into one of these platforms would result in either a single forward gear and multiple reverse gears, or would require costly modifications (such as custom differential cases allowing the diff to be flipped) to rectify this problem. This is why you never saw B or H series engines in anything but Hondas back in the day (despite any advantages these engines had over other manufacturer’s four cylinder engines).
On the other hand, B-series just fits better into older Hondas. Try dropping a K-series into a CRX and see how well it fits. B-series is a much more natural fit, and doesn’t require such things as cutting and welding mounts or holes in the hood. Electronics are also much simpler. If you want a swap that is an easier and better fit in your old Honda, B-series is the way to go.

B series. You mentioned prices not coming down but really that's for the Type R engines. The common engines are still very cheap and plentiful. I don't know about where you live but here in Puerto Rico those cars sold like hot cakes. The K series is much more expensive here because it's generally considered the "better engine" even though the B series can get you what you want and thensome. The allure that having a K swapped car means you're cool and gives you street cred has lead many to believe the B series isn't as good. But I assure you that for the age of the engine in question, it is just as good. Most people want somewhere around 500HP and would swap a K in just because it can take it with stock internals, but if you built your B you wouldn't need to buy a new engine/transmission combo with all the supporting accessories and items to do the swap. Could've just built your B. And even if your Civic doesn't have a B and it has a D series in it, the aftermarket support is still there for it and the internet has proved you can build a D series to a reliable 500HP and some more. I'd argue for street use just stick to your D series, it gives you more street cred in my eyes than doing another K swap.

K24A2 + replica of a good header + VTC gear + Hondata Kpro + 6 speed transmission = 240whp easy and good for road racing.
Don't get me wrong, B-series engines are good and potent but the cam phasing on the K-series helps a lot. The weakness of the K24 is just the rod-stroke ratio and cast pistons, not bad if you keep the revs at 7200rpm for endurance racing, but it's a cost effective turnkey solution for someone who has no extra budget for a custom ported head, camshaft and piston upgrade that will yield better power and torque per dollar spent.

No idea how far the tune went, though it was done by a respectable workshop who hold a few lap records around the state. I've heard all the stories of simple 240whp k24 setups and don't know if I'm missing something or they're inflated figures. I'm happy with it but 25hp for another tune would be awesome

Granted the B series is a lot easier to swap but in 2023 the prices are getting ridiculous and not to mention that parts are only going to get harder to come by. And from my understanding of the K series engines are just B series engines but upgraded. And K series are getting a lot easier to swap while keeping ac and power steering thanks to K tuned and various other companies making B/K series swaps so much easier and affordable while retaining ac and power steering. The main reason why I haven't went K series is because I want to keep my ac because our summers here in the southeastern US is almost insufferable lol. And I don't really want to swap my EJ subframe for a EG subframe just to keep my ac and power steering. But at the same time K series is going to be the only affordable way to go with an abundance of parts and the amount of K series engines that were produced outnumber the B series. I guess it goes back to what you prefer and if money isn't a problem then I say go B series or even J series.
