That kit should have an o ring included. Reusing the old one is silly.
Especially considering the price of this kit. 👍🏽
They could have used the money they saved on the plastic "skid plate" and put a real dipstick in......it seems the engineer and the dipstick got their names confused
RIDICULOUS for that price and NO O-ring. LOKAR & summit sell one for less $$ & it comes with O-rings PLUS the LOKAR stick has actual markings on the end, not a stupid saw blade cut that YOU had to make. & the LOKAR or Summit does NOT have a company logo on the end, for that high price B&M why would i want to give them free advertising on my truck.
I don't see a LOKAR dip stick for the 6r80 transmission.?
Thought it was pretty cool! Then I saw the price...
For real! $200 for some tubing, and plastic fittings? I understand design cost, but damn.
Add a Dorman trans pan with drain plug and you can do drain and fills in no time. Worth it if you plan on keeping your truck for a long time like me.
About double what I ws willing to pay
@@ottallman Ford recommends the filter be changed everytime you drain and fill the transmission, so the pan has to come down anyways.
@@DapimpBDSD I did exactly that.
$185 and doesn't include an o-ring
saved Ford 3 cents.
That is crazy that the o-ring was not included!
Thanks for the thought but $210.00 Cmon guys that thing didn't cost the company $25 to build . The same parts other then the dipstick can be purchased at lowes or home depot
$356.45 in Canada.
You know its a shit company when they don't include the O-ring. They make you drill through your firewall AND you have to cut into the dipstick to make your on fluid level mark LMAO 🤣 WHAT A JOKE
I don't like the drilling into the firewall, but, Mine just came with an O-Ring, and while it is annoying not having marks on the dipstick already, there are several different level fills depending on the transmission and options of the vehicle. I think Ford is the one that makes this more frustrating than B&M.
IDK- what could possibly go wrong? I swear- Ford engineers must have a F*** with 'em Fridays on their calendar.
I understand that mechanical devices fail. I don't understand why FORD deliberately went out of its way to make sure the home mechanic will have a miserable time servicing his own vehicle. I don't like the misery and I am a millwright. One more thing FORD; when I buy a vehicle from you it belongs to me. SO FU!
I got a second degree burn on the back of my hand checking my f150 tranny fluid. Its BS they deleted the dipstick.
Lol but you still buy a ford
$185 I'll pass
Get a job
It should already be in the engine bay or digitally on the dashboard. So many feature and the truck can't tell you the level of transmission fluid.
I'm not buying this MOD but sure am glad you showed me where my Transmission Dipstick is located... thanks!
(2019 Ford F250 Gas Super Duty)
Glad to help
What I dont like are two things: Drilling holes into the firewall and gouging the dipstick to mark the full level. Another company that does make a dipstick for the Ford uses a mounting bracket and the dipstick is already marked.
I agree it's bad thinking, drilling through any sheet metal without solid knowledge of what's on the other side. There could be a wiring harness behind that or any number of other things. Not saying there is, but the dude didn't mention anything about it.
Fredrick Mendoza who makes that one?
@@himni1 Performance Automatic. Summit sells both brands.
Jegs sells a much better one (includes add/full line) for a fraction of the price $54
@@Todjcam does the jegs dipstick thread into the tranny. The pictures I have seen show for a friction fit with orings. I want a dipstick that threads into tranny fill port.
Can you add oil though the dip stick or dose it puke all that all over !
Yes you can, it will be slow though
Great video guys at least your Channel shows where and how to check the transmission fluid unlike those other d****** channel that you show you how to buy parts from their warehouse and part where you check if you go under the car and will cover the next time
Why on earth does it cost $210?? :'(
The lowest price I've found for this dipstick in Canada is $356.45 Absolutely ridiculous!
$$$226.00 !!!! And....you can't even fill the trans through the narrow tube??? Come on people...get real!
Over priced!!!
but its helpful
@@CJBroncoF150 Can you say Atkins Diet?
Holy crap over $200 hard pass
Does that include a full transmission fluid change and installing the dipstick? If so it might be worth $200
@@Tony-hr4bl since my comment was two years ago you're probably right 200 was probably pretty cheap then compared to now
At $250 b&m can shove it ! I'll make my own...
That should of come from the factory with that!
Make sure it’s a operating temp BEFORE removing cap! I just spilled over a quart of trans fluid in my driveway! Lol
So you have to go under your truck to check the transmission fluid .. WTF .. no wounded I couldn’t find my dipstick 🤦♂️
Just to confirm from the video.. When the fluid is "Hot" the fluid should reach the "A" designation...?? Where on the dipstick is the maximum reading..?? Anyone..?
2024 used the o ring supplied, laying on the ground trying to start tread that was fun, because of this video I had it in but oh he changed it unscrewed it, it took me 30 times to get it started again with the motor running I have burns many many burns cant turn off the motor oil will run out. 1/2 way on the stick is the middle of A and B... reading A is hot running check and B is cold over flow mark if opened... 265$ for the B&M and they are the only company who makes it for the 2014 Ford 6R80 sealed dipstick?
hi there just installed one of these dipstick setups today on my 18 f150 with the 10r80. i also installed a PPE deep pan.so im curious how do you figure out where the full level is on this dipstick in the deep pan with 9 qts instead of 7qts for the plastic pan.? this dipstick is inside the transmission a tad where the stock one sticks out of the hole? i need some help from someone who has done same swap i did.. thanks guys..
For the price of this kit reusing the oring and self tapping screws are hack. Should have a bracket that reuses existing hole(s).
Not a very good product in my opinion as a licensed tech of over 30 years. How are you going to pour the transmission fluid down that tiny little dipstick tube? It needs to be much larger diameter. JMO
If it was a $100.oo , I'd buy one in a second...not at $254.oo .. geez
How much is it? And also can you add transmission fluid through there
Need a $185 mod to check your tranny fluid like a normal vehicle... f'ing christ.
It's sad when you have to get a dipstick as an accessory 😅😅
Good quick video of the procedure, thanks. The ANS special fittings bottom and top likely add to the price. I think with the exhaust so close I would have slipped a heat shield tube over the dipstick.
Glad it was helpful!
Some jackass got rid of my dipstick so I did all the taking the plug out for no reason
would this work for my Mustang 5.0? -- or is there a specific one for my Mustang? -- also, is it normal for the trans pump to whine like bearings going bad? ffs... not even 500 miles on my 2019 and it sounds like it's fuc king low on fluid...
Really sucks for the owner of the vehicle, because when you take it in to get something done, you’re trusting the mechanic to do it right. I’ve heard stories, and witnessed, that the trained technician failed to do their job. For example, my mom had her oil changed, went to drive it around after and the engine was overheating a few miles down the road. Come to find out, they drained the oil, but never put any back in. My dad had similar, but also had a multi point inspection. Somehow they decided to drain the coolant, but managed to break the plug. Their fix was to wrap plumbing tape around the broken piece and stuff it back in the hole. He found this out when he and my mom went to the store after the inspection and there was steam coming from the engine. Parked it and the rest of the fluid poured on the ground after they shut it off. 2 shops, 2 different technicians. And another was when my mom got an oil change at a different shop, they left the oil bottle upside down over the fill hole, the cap now missing. And these people are supposed to be “Specialists”. As my dad says, if I wanted to screw it up, I’d do it myself. I bring it in to you, paying lots of money to have it done right by your mechanics, and they manage to break something else.
Dipstick tube looks pretty narrow compared to the ones in earlier models that came with tubes. Anyone have success refilling the trans from this tube after doing a service?
There’s no coolant in that truck
Have you discovered yet that it will fit a 2019 F250, 6R100 trans?
I had the dipstick already mounted and fed down before starting. Seemed to make job easier
$238.95 ????? You must be joking right?
Can a full dipstick tube from a 2009 be used on a 2010?
hey i had a quick question about that fluid level, did u guys check that with the transmission hot? I have this same transmission and I'm not sure where the fuild level should be on the dipstick. Any help would be appreciated
Yes.. engine has to be at normal operating Temps to get an accurate level reading. Hope this helps.
Too costly
Good idea. I will check if they make one for a s197 6r80! 🤙🏽
Cap head broke off how can I get threads out
Where can I find the dipstick on Amazon or where
we have it on our website
What's the name of your website? @@CJBroncoF150
I ordered one delivered for $230.00 now I have to install and mark it ! 67 yrs old, this sucks! Hopefully I can do this ! 2014 f150 5.0 XLT with 230K on it.
Quit complaining. Im 78 and I did it by crawling under the same veh as you. "Git'R Done"!
@@ronaldrogers4119 how did you attach it to firewall so it doesn't transfer noise inside the cab??
looks like it's a little to close to the exhaust
How many days would it take to pour 9 + qts of transmission fluid thru that small tube?
Dont do the mod. Its only once in awhile. Pick a day when you have a lot of time.
Why would you change the location of the transmission dip stick. I'm short and fat. Hard enough to check the fluids in these trucks as it is. To make things harder, you put in in the middle of the firewall so it's harder to reach. Yall didn't think this through.
Christaphor,
it looks like it could go closer towards the passenger side , I thought the same thing, Why put it towards the middle . I don't like the idea of just running self tapping screws through the fire wall either, use an existing screw
Put it where you want it. This example was just his preference.
Get a tall stool or lose weight. Probably lose weight.
Q: does adding this dipstick qualify as "altering the engine" and void the warranty?
Call your local dealership and ask them to be sure.
Maybe if it fails and causes you to lose your fluid.
should not but OEMs are known to blame everything but the root cause. So simple to install simple to uninstall before you return the truck.
@@CJBroncoF150 what a bs reply! Why don't you clear it with Ford so that your customers don't have to gamble with their "local dealer"?
@@Fabes002 Get it in writing.
Where can you get this done at
Stupidest design ever
Why would you be "heading off road" after doing this?

Could have easily said "now it's installed, time to get out there and run over the homeless!" Wtf.
Nice product
Great idea. Love the video.
From where can i get it ?
Summit Racing or American Trucks
Will this work for a 2015 Ford F150 5.0 thanks
Tony,
He said it works on 2010 through 2019 Ford F150 so I would guess it will work .
Yes
That is Genius!
Compatible with the 10 speeds?
Yup! Here's the list of capatbility AODEW/4R75E, 4R75E, AODEW/4R70E, 6R80, 10R80
will this work with the stock pan? I see you have an aftermarket pan??
It works with any pan
How about showing us where the dipstick is located can't just zoom in super close no one sees anything
It's on the passenger side of the transmission, above the very front of the oil pan.
Next to the passenger cat
