  • In episode 8 of our 2023 European Cruise, we travel back to Spain, this time on the southern coast. We make two stops in Cadiz and Motril, and we explore the cities of Arcos de la Frontera, Jerez de la Frontera, and Nerja. We take a walking tour of Arcos de la Frontera and visit the Iglesia de San Pedro, and the Basilica of Santa Maria de la Asuncion. Afterward, we travel to Jerez de la Frontera to the Gonzalez Byass Bodega where we experience a sherry wine tasting with Tio Pepe. We also see the world's largest operational wind vane according to the Guinness Book of World Records. The next day we travel to Motril and take a shore excursion to the Cueva de Nerja or Cave of Nerja. We do some spelunking on the long underground trail taking amazing video. Then we drive over to the Balcony of Europe which has panoramic views of the Alboran Sea which lies between the Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea. These towns are a "must-see" when paying a visit to Southern Spain. We feel we have visited the best places to see in Southern Spain.
