S2:E14 Exploring the Fortified Cities of Corfu & Dubrovnik

Corfu, Greece & Dubrovnik, Croatia are amazing cities along the Adriatic coast. They both contain walled fortifications designed to repel attacks.
In the 14th episode of our European Cruise as we visit both of theese amazing towns and we see why these are two of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Europe. First we dock in Corfu, Greece where we load up into two rental cars for an island adventure. We drive across the island to the Byzantine castle of Angelokastro. We ascend a long staircase to this mountaintop fortress that was once the Capital of Corfu.. Then we return to Corfu and visit the old fortress. Built by the Byzantines in the 12th century AF & reinforced by the Venetian Empire in the 15th century AD. This waterfront fortification helped 8,000 Venetians hold off an entire Ottoman Empire army of 33,000. We take a walking tour of the walled castle and examine the bulwarks and defensive structures.
Our next stop as we check off another of our bucket list of "must-see" sites in Europe, is the city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. We travel to the walled city that was the filming location of the HBO series Game of Thrones. We have fun exploring the walled city, and attempt to locate many of the filming locations
of one of our favorite TV series of all time. We are able to locate the Red Keep, King's Landing, Blackwater Bay and many more iconic locations.
After that we return to the Norwegian Dawn Cruise Ship to continue our journey through the Adriatic Sea to Slovenia.
