  • In the eleventh episode of our European Cruise as we make our first visit to Italy. First we dock in Livorno where we take the train to Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. We explore the city seeing all there is to see: The Florence Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace, numerous squares housing one of a kind statues & incredible architecture. Then, as we check off our list of "must-see" sites in Italy, we sail on the Norwegian Dawn to the port of Civitavecchia. A short train ride takes us to Rome where we embark on a walking tour of the ancient city. We see unmistakable beauty as we visit the Trevi Fountain, the Column of Marcus Aurelius, the Pantheon, the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II, and finally the Colosseum. It is there we take a private tour onto the arena floor and see the inner workings of this ancient amphitheatre.
