Saw your work a little while ago, your style is one of the most - if not the most - eye catching film style that I've seen on youtube. To me that's saying a lot!
Read your color grading E-Book and I know I don't want to miss another video you make! Your talent inspires me to learn more and do more. And hopefully some day I will be able to grade as well as you do.
I have only respect for you man - as an artist, as well as for your knowledge and your philosophy. A breath of fresh air and hope for a time I can only describe as insane.
finally someone who appreciates the little blackmagic thingy like i do without complaining about battery life and stuff. Unfortunately iam doing a lot of events and sports at the moment (which i dont really like) so my two bmpcc stay in the cupboard most of the time (together with two speedboosters). I dont use them anymore but i just cant sell them, because they are so unique in producing nice skin tones and detail in such a tiny package. Damn it, you made be getting sentimental here, but i guess thats why i subscribed your channel (which i do like ... never :D). That being said: Good job!
so happy the internet landed me on your channel! I'm on my way to make an independent film of my own (trying anyway), and your giving me exactly the answers I'm looking for. thanx! ill continue watching!
You really inspire me man. This is a great review. I'm a filmmaker and I watch your videos, hoping that one day I can touch and motivate people like you do.
+Cinematography Database been using the cinema gamut and canon log now but haven't done any substantial testing. Don't have anything to complain about but I've tried some with the log 2 & 3 also. Don't have a preference. But I've read that the 2 & 3 is supposed to be noisy. Prefer to underexpose so that would be an issue. Any thoughts? Love your channel btw
This is awesome! I have a C100 and I recently shot an online commercial for a home builder. I was able to push the log footage quite far and get a super nice image. I'm quite new to colour grading, can you suggest how best to learn it other than just doing it?
Good to hear that you like your new camera. I loved my old C100mk2 but my new Ursa Mini even more, haven't found a single negative thing about it :) might get the BMPCC cause the ursa is still a bit to big for certain things!
Cool camera bro. I am just shooting from a little Sony Vario Sonnar (cyber shot) with a Carl Zeiss lense has a stereo microphone that gets great sound. But, really it's just for amateurs,,,one day I look forward to a more high end camera like yours. I just need to learn how to use them first,,hahaha, but I am studying that at college now! Love the video and the honesty. Warm Regards Marty Ware
Hi Jonny, I've been following you for a while and really like your video's and the look of it. As most of your followers I am too surprised you don't have even more subscribers / views (although 20k+ subscribers is pretty decent IMO). I think it would be nice (and generate a lot of views) if you made some more in depth reviews of the gear you are shooting with and e.g. which settings you use (in know you already did a few short ones). If i remember correctly I found you on youtube because I was looking for more info / reviews about the BMPCC. Just a thought. Keep up the good work and good luck!
I actually really like a lot of the grades I've seen in your work. That milky look is the opposite of what I usually do but I'd love to learn how you do it. Do you have a tutorial up? Also it seems like you do a lot of color grading, if you can do a tutorial on how to properly calibrate your monitor that would be incredible. I spent a good amount of money on a dell monitor, looks like it might be the same as yours, but calibrating it has been a complete nightmare, I basically gave up.
Subscribed. You have mad skills bro. I am inspired. Just got two of the pocket cameras and a GX85 coming from two AF-100's. For some reason I could never get sking tone right in the AF-100 even recording to an Atomos box. I need more practice obviosuly. I love how you grade. Awesome.
Love your videos dude. You're literally my biggest inspiration right now, we have the same styles. I had the BMPCC for a little while. I LOVED the flat RAW, but I found it way too soft. It also skipped frames so I sent it back!
I use the GH4 Cine D custom, and a 70D for b roll. I find the internal 4k on the Lumix good enough, but I guess next step is an external recorder so I can push the grading even further! Keep it up dude, I'll be here.. Watching... lol
Im a baffled Pocket Rocket Shooter - and ... im still baffled - i shot Arriflex, back in the 80és and 90es - and just the fact that i NEVER EVER have to ASK - my boss - or ANYONE - if i can use the cam´s , or WHY,WHEN, HOW, and why NOT ! - i really feel empowered - to have my own gear - (BMPCC-Minolta and Nikon MB-Speedbooster´s- a forest of vintage Minolta and Nikon Glass-Anamorphot w´diopters, gimbals and Zoom soundgear-- light and starpower ! ) and all this - is M I N E - a Bankrupt progrock bassplayer , and filmmaker auteur ! Whats not to like , about THIS day and age ???? - cheer up,- ;) What killed youre Pocket cams? let me guess - you jammed a micro HDMI cable into the (1.5 mm too short) female plug on the Pocket Rocket - and it went into the housing ,- ? - but what about the second time ?
i don't have enough money to buy a full frame camera, is it worth to buy in 2017 the canon 5d m 2 for photo and video? i'm moving from a entry level, i try canon 80d, but i want a full frame, for do landscape and portrait photography, also some video or little movies :)
+fleur maudit if it's mainly stills I think it's a great camera, but depending on price. Even the mk3 should be a good price. Mk2 feels old though when you look at the video features. But also think about how long it will live, I guess an unserviced mk2 can be likely to die because it's getting old too, just worth looking into how much usage the camera has
ok thank you so much, i'm an amateur, so for now I want something that cost not too much, but you're right for this. I don't if is better to invest money on lens or not. Thanks and keep it doing! amazing Q&A today
Great vlog you did on both Canon and BM camera, I have the Pocket and I know what happens when you place it near a laser. I'm always intrigued by others take on camera for indy filmmaking. Thanks for making it. I Subscribed for support.
will watch it again with sound but from what I can see this is exactly what happened to my camera when filming a rave documentary - 2 cameras destroyed from a laser beam in 2 days. Won't be filming in venues with lasers again.
the black magic looks amazing but it turns a 50mm lens into a 150mm because of the crop..that's a no go for me personally but I know people have made some really good things on it.
Great Channel! I cant seem to download the E-Book. I filled in the details but got nothing except the 'Thank You' page. Didn't get anything in the mail either. A reply would be appreciated. Thank you.
I loved your rant on color grading opinion. Was it directed at some pseudo"pro" color grader who complained on your grading video? Hahah. I am starting to get some video contracts and I shoot my videos with DSLR but... they just don't cut it. I've been dreaming of a C300 for a little while now but I can't justify the investment just yet. Nice video by the way! -Julien
Creative North no honestly, your channel made me realize how hard it is to get noticed these days. You're work is amazing and it deserves to be known all across RUclips. I hope you one day get as successful as possible since you deserve it.
I had no idea. There's no way to set the bm micro cinema camera to automatic mode, where the fan only turns on when the camera is not recording? or turn it off all together? wasn't overheating an issue on the pocket cinema camera? I love the DNG RAW footage from Black Magic and amazing you can get that for 1000.00.
+R A usually by trying to avoid recording into the camera. Often I just sound design instead and use a small sennheiser into the camera to get some sync audio to play with in the sound design. But if I'd use it as a main camera I'd use it with a separate recorder.
You are one of my favorite youtubers! Thank you for commenting on my comment at a Jon Olsson video so I was able to find your channel. But I found one mistake on your cover photo on your channel. It should be "an international" and not "a international". :) Keep up your great work!!!
why did u not compare the equivalent Black Magic ursa, a 12,000 camera vs a 500 camera not a fair comparison, please compare cameras that are in the same class
great channel...allways people complain cameras...this camera is good but...blaa blaa blaa. instead they can go and shoot some great videos and practise how to use camera :)
One of the best no non-sense channel I've ever found here in youtube!
I am in awe of all the videos that you produce on your channel. The content is outstanding and your creativity is utterly unique.
Thank you Colin! It makes me so happy to hear that! +Colin Lakeman

KaganTech no doubt about that. You'll be great someday, i'm sure. I'm so glad to have inspired another motivated soul... 👊
Where can I get that CG ebook man? cheers!
I have only respect for you man - as an artist, as well as for your knowledge and your philosophy. A breath of fresh air and hope for a time I can only describe as insane.
botanyboy1 wow I was so flattered man. I really appreciate your feedback. I'll do my best not to disappoint you in my future vids. Thanks a lot!
I'm working with a 5D mark ii... It's all I got but you definitely inspire me to create!! Thanks for the great work!!

Is in your opinion a good choise to buy this camera (or a micro cinema camera) for commercials and reportage low-budget solution today in 2019?
so happy the internet landed me on your channel!
I'm on my way to make an independent film of my own (trying anyway), and your giving me exactly the answers I'm looking for.
thanx!
ill continue watching!
Glad you did as well :) Looking forward to hear your thoughts on the upcoming episodes as well!
You really inspire me man. This is a great review. I'm a filmmaker and I watch your videos, hoping that one day I can touch and motivate people like you do.
Your channel, is really good. Your chill way of expressing yourself, and your films are amazing!
What gamut and gamma are you using with the C300MKII?
+Cinematography Database been using the cinema gamut and canon log now but haven't done any substantial testing. Don't have anything to complain about but I've tried some with the log 2 & 3 also. Don't have a preference. But I've read that the 2 & 3 is supposed to be noisy. Prefer to underexpose so that would be an issue. Any thoughts? Love your channel btw
Absolutely love this channel. Been considering both of these, so excited to watch the review!
Yey! Looking forward to hear your thoughts! Love both of them.
You're a wonderfully creative man!! Wish you more success and able to give us joy through your posts!!
Great comparison - been looking at both of these for a while....What Picture Profile are you using on C300? Just curious....
I hope this isnt too late to ask. What kind of camera did you use for your nextflix project?
Ya i have to say this is a very good straight talking channel glad I found it.
Thanks for the update & taking us along with your journey
Ross Adams It's my pleasure... thanks for riding along! 👍👍👍

What lens was the beach shot with the baby shot on?
Great creative video , I really enjoyed watching , great choice of music too and what a good looking family too .
Good to hear that you like your new camera. I loved my old C100mk2 but my new Ursa Mini even more, haven't found a single negative thing about it :) might get the BMPCC cause the ursa is still a bit to big for certain things!
yeyy! but Ursa mini is nice, but as the c300 not as easy as the BMPCC to run around with :)

That's great Marty! You've an awesome channel!
Thanks matey, I look forward to getting the content into a better production format over time.

Hey Michel, thank you for all the nice words! and yes, I'd be happy to! It seems like many people enjoy the reviews.

Inka Saraswati same
big upps to the man behind this channel, more power to you!
Temitope Ajileye Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it! 👌👌👌
I'm with you on the looks man. like you said, there's no one way of grading it. I love that faded look tho!
Caleb Sardar thanks bro!
U ARE AN INSPIRATION! DUDE I LOVE YOUR WORK!!
Thanks Antonio! :)
Love your videos dude. You're literally my biggest inspiration right now, we have the same styles.
I had the BMPCC for a little while. I LOVED the flat RAW, but I found it way too soft. It also skipped frames so I sent it back!

Have you considered the Gh5? Thats what I'm planning on upgrading to
no, not really! But I've never used it. Let me know your thoughts on the Gh5 when you get it!
Great review tho! And about the color gradings: i think it makes you stand out! Thanks for the upload!
Thanks! glad you enjoyed it:)

Creative North are all blackmagic cameras sensitive to lasers?
like your vlogging style so much...
I admire you bro! Thank you for being an inspiration!!

He is shit actually, what kinda inspiration in this video
Haha stay happy! +Kamel Labiad
I love the silky look.

just randomly watching a review when I see footage from my town
DOPE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎥🎥🎥
Wft man, is this all you got to say in comparison video?
Yee it was Kamel! +Kamel Labiad
isn't Dangerous that laser beam at 1:59 for Bmpcc's sensor ?
It broke it
fuc**g laser
Guys, i am late to the party, but can a c300m2 record 1080p 444 without external recorder?
Hmm it records 444 12-bit up to 25 or 30. Then 10-bit I think at slow mo.
thanks
Better than a6500?
is it ok if I can have the title of the music you use around 1:57?
If you get a new black magic, why not get the micro cinema instead for the same price?
+Photographic Elements have it but the fan noise is too loud

how do you get the audio to work on the BMPCC??

So how about a7s II?
I suscribed! A fellow filmmaker here! :)
You rock bro
Loving these reviews lately nice work 👏🏼 just upload one of my short quick flip edits from New York really open to your feedback 👌🏼
Thanks Will! of course! :)
Brilliant - thank you!
Also, autofocus 👍
Thanks Joseph! Love autofocus!
why did u not compare the equivalent Black Magic ursa, a 12,000 camera vs a 500 camera not a fair comparison, please compare cameras that are in the same class
Because those are the cameras that I use? +Daryl Baugh
+Daryl Baugh cause I don't think it matters. I have both, I use both. I love both. It's not an either or...
Creative North alright. greetings from Jamaica. will take your advice for my herbal documentary
Looks like your children like when you take shots. it's good to see )
Yeehh!

Trollbest2 Plays! thanks dude!
Dope!
Thanks mate!
great channel...allways people complain cameras...this camera is good but...blaa blaa blaa. instead they can go and shoot some great videos and practise how to use camera :)
But battery and audio in Black Magic sucks so baaaaaaaaaaaaad.
Yee, don't use it for audio so often. Agree with battery!
Nice, simple and poignant.
Thanks Dale!
like for autofocus
love your videos!
Makes me so happy to hear that :)
