The speculative shop keeper story was, in fact, a rumor spread around on 4chan at the time. However, it has since been debunked. The Gold and Silver Demo was apart of a larger Nintendo leak back in 2018-2020. Sorry for the slip up, that’s on me! I won’t let it happen again, promise. 🫡 Regardless, I still think this is a neat discovery with a lot of insight to what could’ve been.

It might be a pre-release build, but it’s so pre-release that it contains a totally different game. The development of Gold and Silver was a disaster, and all the game had to be made from the ground up at least one time.
What would've happened if GS was released sooner in 1997? But with everything already finalized. Including cool scrapped mons so we'd get 135 new Pokemon(286 in total). And only one Region(Johto, but bigger). While as a standalone title as Johto has its own stuff(League, Evil Team, Fossils, etc.).

If I feel like I can tell a story in an interesting way it’s a contender for a video! I also think I naturally enjoy telling stories so writing scripts isn’t challenging. This is an awesome video, absolutely fantastic editing and storytelling! I can't believe it doesn't have more views, and I hope you keep up the great work! I've been a big fan of the Spaceworld demos and it's always cool to see people covering them. There is one thing I'll add though. The story of the collector you told is confirmed to be completely made up. The truth is that the demo came from a breach of Nintendo of Europe's servers by the cybersecurity researcher Zammis Clark. This breach also included things such as the Spaceworld 99 demo, early versions of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl as well as Sword and Shield, and source code for most of the mainline Pokemon games up to that point. The Spaceworld demo was one of the first things to be leaked, but the files for it were found in later leaks, confirming that it came from the same source. The whole thing is just wild and honestly could be a video on its own!

I wish they can use some of this things, the deleted areas, the deleted species, the deleted plot (because it looks so good, even better than the things they gave us recently, particularly with the tr4shy Sword and shield)... To give us a Gold/Silver Legends with an alternate timeline, past or future, I dont know... But even they can use these deleted starters, they are SO well designed, for the grass timeline they can get rid of Chicorita, however they can use the evolution to create another line, that weird thing that looks so interesting. This deleted game has the mysterious ambiance that I used to love in Pokémon first games.
I agree that this is seemingly better than recent generations. However, I kinda like the idea of this being a lost relic to time. I think it’d be cool to see Nintendo reference it in some way though! Thank you for watching :)
The scrapped cat-like Pokemon look like they could maybe have been early designs for Eeveelutions - the one on the right definitely gives Umbreon vibes. Or maybe they were scrapped because they were a little to similar to Espeon and Umbreon, if those two had already been added (I haven't looked at the full list)
Potentially! Umbreon and Espeon are both in the beta Pokédex. This isn’t to say they weren’t connected at one point, to that we don’t have the information. The demo & its work just goes to show that Gen 2 changed almost everything about the franchise despite it having many glaring flaws that mostly stem from second installment weirdness
I do think the video is a little too quiet, however I think the actual quality of the audio is fine. I’m still new to this lol, definitely will adjust audio for the next upload!
